That there will be a new Mass Effect game has been known ever since Mass Effect 3 released more than two years ago. Bioware hasn’t been shy in talking about it, and what all the new game will entail. We already know that the main narrative arc of the trilogy is closed, and that this will initiate a new story arc, for instance, but we haven’t actually gotten to see the game in action yet, which I guess makes sense considering that all hands on Bioware are probably working on Dragon Age: Inquisition right now.

But Bioware did debut some footage of te game at their Mass Effect panel for Comic Con. That footage, alongside the entire panel itself, is now available to view online. We have posted it up there for you.

Ironically enough, Bioware chose to debut the game with the footage of what is probably the most hated aspect of the Mass Effect games- Mako. Yes. It is back. Shudder in fear, my friends. Shudder in fear.

Thomas Tull says the film will focus on its cast and surprise its fair share of viewers.

The upcoming Warcraft film, based on Blizzard’s award-winning franchise, will be wrapping up shooting in the next few weeks, though post-production is expected to go on till the film’s release in 2016. Despite the money poured into the project though, Warcraft film producer Thomas Tull believes you just can’t make a video game movie as a simple cash-in.

Speaking to IGN, Tull stated that, “Doing a videogame movie has not really been done well, and I think part of the reason for that is it’s been done for the wrong reasons. If you simply say ‘How many people have played the game? How much money can we make?’ You’re doomed. You’re doomed right off the start.

“Bringing a filmmaker like Duncan [Jones] onboard to distill that and bring the incredible cast onboard that he was able to get… we hope that when you see the first trailer for it, you’re going to say ‘OK, this is not what I was expecting.’ He’s an incredibly exciting filmmaker.”

As for what the Warcraft film will seek to focus on, Tull said “With a great cast, there’s a lot of folks to follow, so I’d look more in that direction because there’s so many talented people working on it…We’re very aware of the fact that in the mythology of Warcraft, there are two tribes – two big things to follow. We think you’re going to get a chance to look at both.”

The Warcraft film is slated to release in March 2016 with footage to be shown at this year’s Comic Con. Stay tuned for more details.

Sonic is one of the defining characters of platforming, and his induction into the 3D realm via the Sonic Adventure series was a strong contender to Nintendo’s Mario titles.

Sonic Adventure 2 was one such title, and arguably one of the most controversial. Besides introducing Shadow, which spawned off the horrendous Shadow the Hedgehog video game, the game was infamous for pushing side-characters ahead of the mainstay Sonic.

Nonetheless, it was a solid effort. And Sega is looking to bring it back in full force for the new generation of gamers.

At the 2012 Sonic Boom community fan-fest during Comic-Con, Sega announced an HD remake for Sonic Adventure 2. It will be available for Playstation 3’s Playstation Network and XBox 360’s XBox Live Arcade.

No word yet on a release date or the cost, but it’s definitely an interesting update. The HD graphics will warrant a look alone, and hopefully it’ll look more 2012 than 2001.

This was meant to be posted on Halloween but never the less here is a video highlighting some of the best moments of New York City Comic-Con and BlizzCon 2011. There is also the best costumes and Cosplay captured which were some very impressive displays of characters from numerous games as well as comics among others. You can see some of the craziest costumes that must have taken much time and effect to make, along with the Starcraft II Finals too. Foo Fighters ended the BlizzCon night and there will be coverage of that posted soon enough.

Comic-Con hosts some of the most satisfying surprises of the year for pop culture. Whether you like comic books, movies, video games or other forms of entertainment you are sure to find something you love at Comic-Con. This public event features some of the biggest stars, most popular movies, great collectables but most importantly some of the biggest video games. Getting a hold of a ticket to the substantial event might prove to be a challenge but none the less you can still get a sneak peek at some of the things revealed at Comic-Con 2011.

Genki from Saints Row The Third

If you’re not interested in the return of Bevis and Butthead to MTV, or mass advertisements of a new Spiderman movie you might want to stop by the outdoor Mass Effect 3 setup. That’s right Mass Effect was set up outside the Sand Diego Convention Center; which means no ticket was required to see what they had to offer. To celebrate the first hands on preview to the public the game was giving out blow up Omni blades to anyone who stopped by. Mass Effect 3 showcased higher power weapons, better agility over commander Sheppard, and the ability to lob grenades. The demo expresses more control over the commander’s team which makes a strategic way to kill off some of the tougher enemies. Fans of the series will be excited to know that in Mass Effect 3 players will be able to upgrade their abilities the way they like; you will have more control over which area you would like to excel in. Mass Effect 3 was a show stopper at Comic-Con. When this game is released on March 6th of 2012 those of you who didn’t get a hands on preview will be more than pleased with what Mass Effect 3 has to offer.
Just down the street from the Mass Effect 3 set up you will find yourself in a completely different realm; standing in front of Professor Genki life size replica of the Super Ballistic Manapult vehicle. Saints Row: The Third took over Comic-Con this year, with a 3D light show on the side of a building, penthouse pets along with other stars signing posters, and you can’t forget the Saints Row bikini babes handing out postcard to advertise the next installment to the Saints Row series. Not only did the Saints show who they were with taking over outside but inside Volition inc. provided fans with an exhilarating demo of one of the story missions. In this mission your player finds himself falling out of an airplane shooting everything in his path but also managing to save his female companion, Shaundi. The demo was nothing less than exciting! The day with the Saints wasn’t quite over yet. After all the Saints festivities they partied afterward at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Just around the corner from the Hard Rock sat one of the most interesting parts of Comic-Con, a Sega arcade. Sega had an idea similar to Mass Effect 3 and treated the public who weren’t able to get a ticket with some gaming fun. They had their games set up outside for all to enjoy, pass or not. The line was long making Sega one of the most popular stations at Comic-Con. Posters were hung displaying all the playable games such as Captain America: Super Soldier, Rise of Nightmares and many more. Sega wasn’t going to let the show end without announcing a new game based around aliens.
Sega wasn’t the only company with major announcements. Microsoft kicked off their time at Comic-Con by announcing a video walkthrough of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary straight out of E3 and for all the Comic-Con attendees to enjoy. Capcom delighted fighting fans with the announcement of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. This new game will not only have all the characters return from previous games but also introduces 12 new characters, including one Frank West and Doctor Octopus. These new announcements leave players breathless; everyone loves a classic and a good fight.

With more than 125,000 attendees a day it’s no wonder why comic con turns so many heads each year. Comic-Con marks one of the most exciting experiences of pop culture fans lives. If there is one thing you should do in your life its check out this massive four day event; you won’t be left disappointed.

Today Deep Silver announced it will host a panel at Comic Con 2011 that promises to blend the pop culture fascination with zombies with realities of medical science titled, “The Science of Zombies.” The panel will take place in room 8 of the San Diego Convention Center on July 22 at 7:30 p.m. and will explore society’s fascination with the Zombie genre as a whole, and demonstrate how creative talent are harnessing medical science to define and explore horror entertainment in more realistic (and therefore more frightening and engaging) ways.

The panel features the creative talent behind the acclaimed and highly anticipated Dead Island game, the world’s foremost zombie enthusiasts, esteemed interactive entertainment industry journalists and the nation’s leading medical professionals in the field of brain research and brain disease. Scheduled particpants include:

· Max Brooks, universal zombie expert and author of The Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks

· Haris Orkin, writer of the anticipated video game, Dead Island

· Steve Schlozman, M.D., author of The Zombie Autopsies and assistant professor of psychiatry, Harvard Medical School

· Bradley Voytek, Ph.D., Post-doctoral Fellow: Neuroscience, University of California, San Francisco

· Andrew Groen, freelance journalist and editor of GamePro Magazine’s “Real Science” column

· Bruce Geryk, M.D., Resident Physician, Department of Neurosurgery, University of North Carolina Hospitals

“We’re excited to bring some of the world’s great medical minds together for what promises to be an intriguing discussion about the human body and its capabilities,” said Deep Silver Chief Operating Officer Geoff Mulligan, quickly hiding a plastic bin filled with suspiciously grey and squishy looking unidentified objects under his desk . “I have an ongoing belief that brains are a vastly underrated source of vitamin B12 and thus will base my potential intake of human brains on this panel’s ultimate decision on whether or not this is a solid nutritional strategy. I look forward to this discussion at Comic Con 2011.”

Dead Island is the upcoming gruesome zombie action game with RPG elements developed by renowned developer Techland and combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to four players in co-op mode.

The Dead Island Special Edition is now available as an automatic upgrade to early preorder customers at GameStop stores nationwide for a limited time, while supplies last.

Dead Island launches on September 6, 2011 at retailers across North America.
