The Execution Force DLC brings four new Assassin classes to the game, with each new unit having its own unique style of play and loadout. The DLC also brings with it new Tentarus Hive missions, as well as new boarding action missions that allow players to pursue and dispose of Death Guard cruisers.

The four new Assassin classes are the Vindicare Assassin, the Eversor Assassin, the Culexus Assassin, and the Callidus Assassin. Where the Vindicare Assassin focuses on long-range combat with snipers, the Eversor Assassin focuses on attacking multiple targets. The Culexus Asssassin, on the other hand, focuses on disabling Nurgle’s psychic energies, and the Callidus Assassin focuses on using stealth to slip behind enemy lines.

Alongside the DLC, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters has also gotten a free update that brings new Warp Surge events to the game, as well as three new enemy types: the Plague Surgeon, the Nurgling Swarm, and the Beast of Nurgle.

The Execution Force expansion brings four new unique Assassin classes to Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, as well as new Death Guard cruiser boarding missions in a bid to take on a deadly new Tentarus Hive threat.

The new Assassin units hail from the highly-secretive Officio Assassinorum. Players will be able to pick from assassins from four major temples, each specialised in taking out their targets in different ways. For example, the Vindicare Assassin can pick off enemies from a distance, while the Eversor Assassin specialises in taking out multiple targets at once in close range.

With the release of the DLC also comes a new free update to the game bringing the Tainted Sonsas a new enemy patrol troop, adding three new enemy units to Nurgle’s forces.

The biggest new additions to the game in the DLC—titled Duty Eternal—are the two new character classes. Players can now add a Venerable Dreadnought, as well as a Techmarine to their squad in Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. Both units will feature their own equipment, as well as unique abilities.

Alongside the DLC, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is also getting a free update that adds new Nurgle reinforcements: the Meltagun and Krak Grenades variant of the Plague Marine, the Fleshmower variant of the Foetid Bloat-Drone, and the Noxious Blightbringer.

Like XCOM, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters has players take a squad of Grey Knights through its campaign as they fight against the forces of Chaos.

Like XCOM, players start out with The Baleful Edict which possesses facilities like Barracks for customizing your soldiers, an Armory for weapons, and Research for Stratagems. From there, you choose a planet but be careful. Depending on how quickly the Bloom progresses, you’ll need to make tough choices on which mission to pursue.

In terms of combat, there is cover but also plenty of opportunities for melee combat, executions, dismembering foes and even destroying the environment for tactical advantages. Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is currently available only for PC. To see how a typical story mission plays out, head here.

A recently developer gameplay video, uploaded by IGN, showcases a condensed version of one of the first major story missions in the game. The video shows the Grey Knights accompanying the inquisitor Kartha Vakir in an Aeldari Craftworld, where they are investigating the source of the Bloom, the plague that has been let loose by Nurgle on the Tyrtaeus Sector

The video then proceeds to show some of the combat, showcasing various units, abilities, weapons, and some of the tactical options available. Check out the full video below.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is slated to launch on May 5 for PC.

Named Garren Crowe, he is a Castellan who is the champion of the Purifier brotherhood and warden of the Black Blade of Answer. Crowe uses the Black Blade of Antwyr, a relic of evil that taunts and tempts him with whispers of the limitless power of Chaos, to vanquish his enemies on the battlefield.

The character will be available in the main campaign, where he will join players’ squad after a specific event in the game. He is, however, only going to be available with the Castellan Champion edition of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, which is currently available to pre-order on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The developers recently also shared a first look at the four advanced classes of Grey Knights that players can play as in the game. Players will originally begin the game with access to four classes of Grey Knights- namely, the Justicar, the Interceptor, the Purgator, and the Apothecary.

During the course of the campaign, players can get access to four more advanced classes of Grey Knights. Called Paladin, Chaplain, Librarian, and Purifier, each class will feature a unique set of upgrades, and players will have to use a limited number of skill points per Grey Knight to assign a specialization to them during a campaign.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is a co-op tactical RPG where players will form teams and fight against increasingly tough waves of enemy demons. The game is touted to be a story-rich experience, and releases for PC via Epic and Steam sometime in 2022. 

The Warhammer 40,000 based Necromunda: Hired Gun is the latest game set in the same universe, which was hit with a plethora of negative and mediocre reviews at launch. Of course, that’s not reflective of Daemonhunters‘ quality in anyway since both games are being developed by different studios. An interesting point worth noting is that Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is Complex Games’ debut title – which makes the game worth keeping an eye out for.
