According to a recent poll by Consumerist, it seems that the 2013 not-so-coveted Golden Poo Award for worst company of the year may go to EA according to a recent article from Motley Fool’s Kevin Noonan. Noonan wrote, “With regard to quality control, it would be disingenuous to describe EA’s software output in 2013 in terms more flattering than ‘dismal,.”

In line with this analysis was the release of EA’s hugely anticipated Battlefield 4, which, despite stellar graphics, fell victim to a number of multiplayer issues, glitches and bugs, and is still suffering from these issues at this point. Updates continue to roll in, and, like the hydra of Greek mythology, each issue fixed seems to bring up more problems as a result.

However, Noonan pointed out that despite their numerous mistakes, the market has yet to show that EA’s customer base has ceased showing their support. “[T]he market has yet to rebuke EA’s tendency to release incomplete games,” he wrote. It seems that, at least for the time being, EA can get away with pretty much whatever that want as far as their consumer base is concerned.

EA has been awarded the worst company in America award for this year by Consumerist, and EA is not too pleased with this result as it has shrugged off the result.

EA took down Bank of America, which isn’t a big surprise as the poll was available to people who didn’t live in the US as well. So it makes sense why EA stands out to many.

Personally I feel this entire thing was dumb as hell, and a entertainment company shouldn’t be on the list, but who am I to say anything?

“After more than 250,000 votes, Consumerist readers ultimately decided that the type of greed exhibited by EA, which is supposed to be making the world a more fun place, is worse than Bank of America‘s avarice, which some would argue is the entire point of operating a bank,” said a statement on Consumerist’s website.

EA has responded to this rather sarcastically:

“We’re sure that British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren’t nominated this year. We’re going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide.”
