Cosplay is not merely an event. For many people it is a custom and  a fundamental part of conventions, and as many years have gone by Cosplay has gone from the few and the hardcore to a massive net of costume enthusiasts spreading across the globe. People with regular jobs and regular schedules take time from work and their daily activities, to dress up as their favorite character.

But that character is not merely a part of a video game, to them it is a form of identity, an identity which holds integrity, heroism, passion and virtues. For the uninitiated Cosplay is a shortened form of two words – costume and play. Keeping that in mind let’s take a look at the top cosplays of 2013.

Tali Zorah (Mass Effect)

You have to admit, this is the most realistic Tali Zorah cosplay you’ve ever seen. I love how the artist paid attention to each detail. The artist highlighted the eyebrows and cheekbones to replicate the game model of Tali. Overall this is a fantastic version of Tali Zorah and if it were a movie, this is exactly how I would have pictured the Quarian.

You must know Orianna from League of Legends, right? If not, this incredible cosplay will give you an idea. Britthebadger is a professional cosplayer and was also seen at PAX this year, but here Orianna showcase really blew some minds away–it’s that accurate!

She has also done stuff related to Portal/Portal 2 and other things, which is shown on her blog here. You can see how good it looks which is a testament to the work put in the costume. It looks stunning, so check it out below.

Sejuani from the game was also shown at PAX and she was elated with how it was received at the event.

“First off, I have to extend my greatest thanks and praises to the organizers of PAX Prime and to Riot Games for hosting and running an amazing convention! Everyone was so incredibly nice and helpful to us during the weekend, I just can’t sing enough praises!”

The official costume-wearers weren’t half-bad either, but for our money we think the fans take the prize hands down every time.

This was meant to be posted on Halloween but never the less here is a video highlighting some of the best moments of New York City Comic-Con and BlizzCon 2011.  There is also the best costumes and Cosplay captured which were some very impressive displays of characters from numerous games as well as comics among others.  You can see some of the craziest costumes that must have taken much time and effect to make, along with the Starcraft II Finals too.  Foo Fighters ended the BlizzCon night and there will be coverage of that posted soon enough.
