You won't be able to begin your career on the PS3 and continue on the PS4, for example.

While EA will allow players to transfer their Ultimate Team Mode stats from the current generation of consoles to the next with FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 won’t go the same route.

Responding to a question on Twitter as to whether players would be able to transfer ranks from one generation of consoles, like say the Xbox 360, to the next, with the Xbox One releasing in November, developer DICE responded:

@mrlflamingo No. Each platform is treated like a separate career, similar to how it works in Battlefield 3.

— Battlefield (@Battlefield) July 25, 2013

A few things to be kept in mind though: while FIFA 14 will be releasing in September for the current generation, Battlefield 4 will be releasing on October 29th in North America and November 1st in Europe. The Xbox One will be releasing in November while the PlayStation 4 will be releasing during the Holiday season.

Will that gap justify the decision to keep careers separate for next generation consoles, especially when Cloud saves and cross-generation games will persist for the next 12 months at least? Stay tuned for more.
