Now that Warface is available for the Xbox 360, what’s next for Crytek? Gamereactor recently spoke to Crytek Kiev senior producer Wim Coveliers and asked if the development team might target the Xbox One next.

Coveliers stated that, “When you work in the video games industry all platforms are always in your mind, but we don’t have any plans for it right now. So we want to focus on making the Xbox 360 [game] that product it needs to be and the success that it deserves to be and so once we’ve sort of established that and once we’ve gotten something that’s good, once we’ve launched it, we might start looking at other things.”

Currently, Warface has more than 25 million registered users on the Xbox 360 and PC worldwide. Though a free to play title on PC, it requires Xbox Live Gold to play on the Xbox 360. What would you think of Warface on the Xbox One? Let us know in the comments.

Crytek’s successful free to play first person shooter Warface, which began as a Russia-only release, is finally available for Xbox 360 through Xbox Live. Head on over to the Marketplace and you should be able to download it, completely free of charge.

If you took part in the recent beta, you won’t need to download the game again. The beta will simply update to the full title and everything you’ve purchased and unlocked will carry over. Though Warface is free to play – which means you don’t have to explicitly purchase anything in-game – you will still require and Xbox Live Gold subscription. On the plus side, Crytek will be releasing new missions each day to add to the value.

Warface is already for PC players in the West and has managed to attract 25 million players on both PC and Xbox 360 since its initial release. Let us know if you’ll be downloading the Xbox 360 version in the comments below.

If you’ve been enjoying the Xbox 360 beta for Crytek’s Warface, then we’ve got some bad news: the beta period is now over. The full game will be releasing on April 22nd and developer Crytek Kiev are currently planning to release daily content in the multiplayer and co-op modes.

Warface has been one of the singularly most intriguing free to play shooters in the world since its release two years, especially when you consider that it rose to popularity in Russia. The game has slowly made its way across the world though and its Xbox 360 release will mark its foray into the console shooter market.

Considering that it exists in a world with Titanfall, Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty – not even counting the number of free to play shooters – will it be able to success? Stay tuned for more information as we count down to Warface’s release in two weeks time.

Crytek has been heavily focused on the next generation of CryEngine and Ryse: Son of Rome, but it’s still investing in its dark horse free to play shooter Warface. The beta is now available on Xbox 360 for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to test out and effectively murder each other in. Check out the announcement trailer above.

The beta will include two co-op modes, three competitive modes and a bundle of missions updated on a daily basis. Warface has been available on PC for some time now, especially in Russia where it has the biggest following, and the Xbox 360 beta will mark the series’ debut on consoles.

Will it be able to compete with current first person shooters for players’ attention, especially with Titanfall set to release in early April for the Xbox 360? We’ll soon find out – in the meantime, join the beta and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Though the free to play shooter will see a release in Western markets soon enough, Warface is currently readying to launch in Brazil as Crytek partners with publisher Level Up! Games to announce the same. Level Up! has been responsible for bringing over a decade’s worth of games to places like Brazil, India and the Philippines and will act as co-publisher for Warface.

General Manager of Publishing at Crytek Dirk Metzger stated that, “Level Up! boast unparalleled experience in delivering great online games to players in Brazil.

“By partnering with them, we can be confident that players across the country will be able to experience Warface as intended and discover for themselves why the game is steadily amassing an army of fans around the world.”

Warface is a military shooter that was previously only available in Russia, where it went on to do great business. It will be heading to the US and Europe later this year for PC.

War. Hoo. Yeah, what is it good for?

Crytek has begun a closed beta for it’s Western version of Crytek Kiev’s Warface, a free to play online FPS which has been running roughshod over Russia when it first released and notching up an impressive following that ranged in the millions.

Now the game is poised to take on the Western markets. Players can head here for a chance to be a part of the closed beta, and get a one-up on everyone else in terms of game knowledge.

Warface was announced for release in the West in August 2011. It has already been released in South Korea and Taiwan in February 2012 thanks to Nexon, and will see release in the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Turkey courtesy of Trion Worlds.

What exactly makes it better than the next FPS, besides scaling extremely well on CryEngine 3? For that, you’ll need to check out the closed beta and eventually the full game when it releases.

Free to play games have never had it so good. Tribes Ascend, Bioware Mythic’s upcoming Ultima game, and now, Crytek is teaming with Trion to introduce Warfare in the west. Warface is a massively multiplayer online FPS, and is currently live in Russian with more than 2 million registered users plus a few awards under it’s belt.

Speaking to GamesIndustryBiz, Trion CEO Lars Butler and Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli stated:

If you look at the online RPGs that came first, when they were just PvP, they were quite niche. The addition of strong, large-scale PvE really made them mass-market. We think that with Warface being both PvP and PvE and really social, the game can dramatically extend the player base for online FPS.

More impressively, it runs off a propriety Crytek 3 engine. Crytek/Trion will co-publish the game across North America, Europe, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand via GFACE, Crytek’s F2P social platform. China and Korean releases are also planned.

Stay tuned for an official release date.
