New screenshots for Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City, the second and final bit of DLC for the game, are now out, showcasing eerie locations, and what looks to be a menacing dragon. Ashes of Ariandel, the first bit of DLC for the game, was considered by many to be disappointing- however, from these screenshots, it looks like The Ringed City may end up making up for that.

“The Ringed City, Dark Souls 3’s second and final DLC, will be released on March 28th, 2017,” Bandai Namco said in the press release accompanying these new screens, also confirming when players will be able to get their hands on this new content.

Ashes of Ariandel, the very first expansion for Dark Souls 3, launched not too long ago- and it had a list of issues and problems specific to it, so that From Software will now be releasing a brand new update for the game, dedicated solely to patching the expansion up.

The update will fix a litany of smaller glitches and bugs, as well as larger problems that could impede or obstruct progress entirely, or break the game’s curve. There have also apparently been fixes and tweaks to the game’s balance.

You can check out the full patch notes for the update below. Update 1.09 will be launching on November 24 and 25. Dark Souls 3 is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

• Updated multiplayer in the Painted World of Ariandel so that guests can also fight Sir Vilhelm.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where Sir Vilhelm would get trapped in the rocks.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where Sir Vilhelm would disappear/reappear in certain areas.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where the character name is not displayed when locked on to Livid Pyromancer Dunnel.
• Fixed an issue where it becomes impossible to progress further in the game because, Friede occasionally does not respawn as Blackflame Friede.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where the Gravetender Greatwolf would not appear in the battle.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where a crab enemy would float in the air if led to a certain location.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where a certain Birch Woman would suddenly appear directly in front of the player.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where certain crystal lizards would not move until they began to attack.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where the crab enemies movement patterns would change if the player repeatedly saved/loaded data near them.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where the knight enemies in the tower would disappear if the player repeatedly saved/loaded data in that area.
• Fixed an issue in the Painted World of Ariandel where a bridge would break in the host’s side, but not on the guest’s side.
• Fixed an issue where the application would freeze upon trying to load a 6-Player undead Match.
• Fixed an issue in the Undead Match where the controls at times become unresponsive when joining a session.
• Fixed an issue in the Undead Match where consumable items were not restored after the battle ended.
• Fixed an issue in the Undead Match where the player is unable to see other players’ soceries such as Homing Soulmass, Homing Crystal Soulmass, etc.
• Fixed an issue where some motions which were improved in patch 1.08 did not take effect when a weapon was equipped to the left hand.
• Fixed an issue where the weight of Curved Swords fluctuated in Regulation 1.22.
• Fixed an issue where the player can fall from any height by repeatedly performing the Crow Quills skill while the Silvercat Ring is equipped.
• Fixed an issue where player could not be absolved of sin as long as Siegward of Catarina remained in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.
• Fixed an issue where the player was able to leave the area during the battle with the Crystal Sage.
• Fixed an issue in the Grand Archives where the Elder Prince, Lorian would warp outside of the boss area.
• Fixed an issue in the Grand Archives where a boss battle would start upon returning from a multiplayer session.
• Fixed an issue where the guest could enter the boss area before the host.
• Fixed other issues and adjusted game balance.

Ashes of Ariandel continues that trend- though it is focused more on PvP than on PvE and expanding the lore of the world, it is still a largely great bit of content offering that dedicated Souls players owe it to themselves to try out. And if you do, you’ll find a Byzantine world waiting for you- as with all things Souls, you’re probably going to be a bit overwhelmed at everything you see. You may even want help. There’s no shame in that.

ACCESSING ASHES OF ARIANDEL

Ashes of Ariandel is actually accessible relatively early in the game, but players shouldn’t jump into it straight away- it’s meant for relatively experienced players. From Software recommends that your level be at least 80 before you try to tackle Ashes of Ariandel.

Travel to the Cathedral of the Deep and enter the Cleansing Chapel bonfire.

As long as you have bought the DLC, you will find a new NPC kneeling before the chapel altar. This NPC will give you the item to enter the Painted World.

Speak to the NPC praying. He will ask you to bring flame to his Lady, who lives in the land of Ariandel.

Accept the request, and the man will ask you to touch a piece of the painting of Ariandel. Doing so will suck you into the scrap of painting – transporting you to the Painted World, and initiating the Ashes of Ariandel DLC.

WEAPONS, RINGS, SPELLS, AND ARMOR SET LOCATIONS

Dark Souls wouldn’t be Dark Souls if it didn’t have loads of high powered, arcane, and absurdly powerful armor, spells, and accessories hidden all around the world, in the most obtuse and often precarious locations that you must fight your way to very carefully. Whether you’re a completionist just looking to get everything there is in the game, or you want help getting that one last bit of armor that you need to complete your set, the video below will help you get everything.

CROW QUILL AND TALON LOCATION

PvP content is actually a big focus in Ashes of Ariandel, so it’s a given that you want the best equipment possible. The Crow Quills weapon is a rather special one- so you want to make sure you have it. The Crow Talons, are, similarly, something that it wouldn’t hurt you to have. Hunting them both down, when they are well hidden in the game’s world, however, can be a bit of a pain. The videos below will help you out with that process.

BOSS STRATEGIES

Unfortunately, Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel is a bit sparse when it comes to single player content- there are only a few bosses here for you to track down and conquer. Of course, those three bosses are a challenge as great as anything you’ve seen in Dark Souls 3, so you may want some help in beating them. That’s what the videos below will help you out with.
