Relic is currently working on Dawn of War 3, which is due to launch later this year exclusively for PC- and ahead of that launch, it has gone ahead and put out a brand new trailer showcasing not one, not two, not three, but four of the environments that will be featured in the game.

Each tileset has a history and a reasoning to be included in the game, and in the video, Relic goes into explaining that a bit. It appears as though, with these four separate kinds of environments, the intent was to have four very clean, visually distinct areas and environments with the game, with each fleshed out and developed.

The video is narrated by art director Matt Kuzminski and lead environment artist Tristan Brett. Dawn of War 3 is due out on PC later this year. be sure to watch the new video below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Relic and Sega’s Dawn of War 3 got some brand spanking new gameplay footage today, ahead of the PC Gaming Show at E3 in a few hours. The footage, which is from a pre-alpha build of the game, looks pretty great, as if it will be mixing the real time strategy and the smaller tactical base building of the first and second games.

That said, it is likely that the graphical look of the game, which is exaggerated and cartoony, rubs some fans of Dawn of War and the Warhammer universe the wrong way, especially since it is a departure from the darker, grimy look of the earlier games.

The video itself is in German, but hey, don’t focus on what they are saying, and instead look at the gameplay footage. Dawn of War 3 is slated to launch on PC next year. Hopefully, it will be getting a segment at the PC Gaming Show later today.

Do you all remember Dawn of War? Before there was Company of Heroes, Relic Entertainment used to be known for Dawn of War, a science fiction fantasy strategy game based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe. With Sega now owning the Warhammer license, as well as Relic themselves, it appears as though the time may be ripe for the Dawn of War franchise’s return. And how do we know that? Why, we know that because Sega has registered a domain for Dawn of War 3, that’s how.

Usually, domain registrations can be defensive, but this might be the real deal- Sega does own both, the license and the developer in this case, and they are already working on reviving the Warhammer license in a big way with The Creative Assembly’s upcoming Total War: Warhammer. Plus, Company of Heroes 2 came out in 2013, and we haven’t exactly heard from Relic since- what might they have been working on?
