The Dashboard will also see updates once or twice a year, like on the Xbox 360.

Another week, another “Ask Me Anything” session on IGN with the Xbox One chief platform architect Marc Whitten. Microsoft already announced that the console would have a day one update in order to over-ride the previously draconian DRM policies, which included authentication every 24 hours online.

But said update thankfully won’t be as big. As Whitten stated, “We are optimizing Xbox One so that the day one update is as fast as possible. While we’re still finalizing the details, we expect that the download will take between 15 and 20 minutes for most users.”

Also, Whitten clarified that they would continue their trend of updating the Dashboard once or twice a year like they did for Xbox 360. “Yes. Like we have done with Xbox 360, we will continue to learn from what customers want and love to iterate on the best dashboard experience.”

The Xbox One will be launching on November 22nd across 13 territories. What are your thoughts on the update?
