The Ultimate Edition includes the base game and two expansions – Haus and SoLA – alongside all of the Slayer character packs (which include unique cosmetics) and the new Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 weapons pack. It also launches with Patch 6, which features Neighborhood Watch, a three-player co-op mode with new characters.

Players must scavenge for supplies and fortify defenses over several days to prepare for a massive zombie horde on the final day. The patch also adds New Game Plus, allowing players to start a new playthrough and reach a new level cap. It also contains new weapons, a new zombie breed, and more challenging gameplay.

Along with the base game, both expansions for Dead Island 2, including the recently-released SoLA DLC, along with the previous Haus DLC, are also available on Steam, along with other releases like weapon packs and cosmetic packs. Celebrating the game’s Steam release, developer Dambuster Studios and publisher Deep Silver have also released a new trailer, which you can check out below.

Dead Island 2‘s most recent expansion, SoLA, was released just last week. Taking place at the eponymous music festival, players must stop the Beat of the Autophage, killing many undead hordes in the process. The DLC also brought with it new Apex Zombies, like the Whipper and Clotter.

Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Slayers must thus stop the beat, slaying tons of the undead in the process. New Apex Zombies like the Whipper and Clotter emerge, the former self-mutilating itself to the point of becoming entangled in intestines, which grant it further reach. Meanwhile, the latter can decompose and recompose seamlessly to gain damage immunity.

Fortunately, there are some new weapons to help out. The Ripper combines a baseball bat and circular saw into a winning combo that can blitz through undead heads. Meanwhile, the Sawblade Launcher provides a powerful ranged option, piercing and decapitating through several targets at once.

Dead Island: SoLA (which was originally announced as SOLA Festival) will be releasing under a month from now, on April 17. The paid expansion will take players to a new location in the form of a music festival in the heart of LA, where the sound of the Beat of the Autophage – described as “a chthonic rhythm” that “calls from beyond” – is turning people into zombies, and you’re tasked with preventing it from endangering the entire world.

In addition to new story content, SoLA will also bring new enemies in the form of the Whipper, a new ranged apex variant that, after being “driven mad with self-loathing by the Autophage”, has taken to self-mutiliation and turned itself into “a horrific nightmare of disembowelled intestines”; and the Clotter, another apex zombie that can “decompose into a revolting pile of gore”, in which form it becomes immune to damage, and can fire “a powerful jet of putrid blood” at you.

Finally, the expansion will also bring new weapons with the Ripper, which is described as “a deadly fusion of a baseball bat and circular saw”, and the Sawblade Launcher, which will do exactly what its name suggests.

At launch, Dead Island 2: SoLA will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store.
