Whether it's poor optimization, excessive crashes, bugs or unstable frame rates, these ports suffered it all and then some.

As has been established many times, game development is hard. Developing complex systems with graphics, AI, physics, environments, cutscenes and dialogue while expecting it all not to crash is nigh impossible. Nevertheless, what’s proven even more difficult, especially in recent times, is ensuring a smooth experience on PC due to the sheer amount of hardware and configurations to optimize for.

It could be a big-budget title or the port for a classic, some legendary titles have been downright horrible on PC. Let’s look at 15 of them here.

Dead Space Remake

Despite its greatness, Motive Studio’s Dead Space Remake had serious issues when launching on PC. There are the usual stutters and major performance issues at 4K resolution. Unfortunately, DLSS makes things worse due to iffy Variable Rate Shading, which is baked in, causing environments with shadows (read: a huge chunk of the game) to look muddy. Performance has improved with patches, but some players are still reporting frame drops and even freezes.

Users can vote to have the game made available on Steam.

Rising Star Games has announced that Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut, the surreal action adventure game which debuted on the Xbox 360 and went on to achieve success, is now available on Steam Greenlight to be voted for.
Managing director & COO of Rising Star Games Martin Defries stated that, “Steam’s Greenlight process is a first for Rising Star Games and there is nothing better than the cult hit, Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut, to make our mark on it.
PS3/PSN users to get in on the horror on April 30th.

The upcoming port of the infamous Deadly Premonition has gone gold. Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut will be available on PlaySation 3 and PlayStation Network across North America on April 30th.

With its surreal setting and resemblance to the cult classic Twin Peaks, Deadly Premonition offers a look into the mind of Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, putting players into an open world horror adventure wherein they must solve the mystery behind brutal murder of a local Greenvale beauty. And it doesn’t help that supernatural creatures are involved, for whatever inexplicable reason.

The Director’s Cut will feature new content for PS3 fans, including a new scenario for the game, completely overhauled graphics remade in HD, an improved control system that now allows you to remap buttons and downloadable content that takes somehow let’s York and Zach live it up in Greenvale.

No possible good can come from that, but we look forward to the consequences come April end.
