Before The Edge of Fate arrives on July 15th, Bungie is letting all players run through previous content and reap the rewards.

With Destiny 2’s next expansion, The Edge of Fate, arriving in less than two weeks, Bungie will open the gates for everyone to access its past content. From July 8th to 22nd, all of the looter shooter’s expansions and Episodes will be available to play for free across all platforms and storefronts.

If that wasn’t enough, any loot, cosmetics and currencies earned alongside unlocked Titles and Triumphs will remain with the player after Open Access ends. Even for those who have no interest in playing The Edge of Fate, it’s a pretty extensive range of content. The Witch Queen and The Final Shape are worthwhile campaigns, while Episode 3: Heresy features some great new activities and loot.

It’s unknown whether all the Dungeons are also available for free, but you can experience three of them thanks to Rite of the Nine. The limited-time event includes Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher and Ghosts of the Deep, alongside their associated rewards.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate launches on July 15th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. Check out the launch trailer here and learn more about its post-game activity here.

The upcoming Shadowkeep and Beyond Light Packs will include the remaining content for both expansions for those interested.

With The Final Shape upon Destiny 2 players, Bungie is doing what it can to lower the barrier to entry for new players. It recently made Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and The Witch Queen available to all players until June 3rd on PS4, PS5 and PC, with any Exotics, armor and weapons theirs to keep forever (or until servers go offline).

If you miss out, don’t worry – Shadowkeep and Beyond Light campaigns will be free for all players from June 4th. They can also use the Stasis subclasses without any restrictions. As for the rest of the content, Bungie will release the Shadowkeep Pack and Beyond Light Pack. Check out everything they have to offer below (price not yet shared):

Shadowkeep Pack

13 Exotic weapons

3 Exotic armor pieces

The Scarlet Keep Nightfall

The Pit of Heresy dungeon

The Garden of Salvation raid

Beyond Light Pack

12 Exotic weapons

6 Exotic armor pieces

The Glassway and Proving Grounds Nightfalls

The Deep Stone Crypt raid

Expect the two packs to arrive around The Final Shape’s launch on June 4th. In the meantime, check out more details on the expansion, from its Exotic class items to more gameplay of the Prismatic subclasses (and teases of the new Strike).
Players on selected platforms can access all three expansions until June 3rd, though console players should have PS Plus.

Bungie and PlayStation have announced a new initiative for Destiny 2 players called Expansion Open Access. From May 7th to June 3rd, PS4, PS5 and PC players can play through The Witch Queen, Beyond Light and Shadowkeep for free. Check out the trailer below.

PlayStation Plus Essential is required for PS4 and PS5 players to get the most out of the expansions, but at least they also get the Lightfall expansion as part of this month’s free games. The initiative is a good way for players to catch up on the franchise ahead of The Final Shape’s launch, especially since it concludes the Light and Darkness saga.

You won’t get to experience the seasonal content that launched between each expansion or even access their Dungeons, but at least the loot is available to keep. Destiny 2: The Final Shape launches on June 4th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. In the meantime, current players can also experience the new Onslaught and Pantheon modes alongside the return of The Whisper Exotic mission.

Evil Dead: The Game and Mafia: Definitive Edition are also free for subscribers starting from February 7th until March 6th.

Following a recent leak, Sony has confirmed the free PlayStation Plus Essential titles for February 2023. Starting February 7th to March 6th, subscribers in all tiers will receive OlliOlli World, Evil Dead: The Game, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light on PS4 and PS5, while Mafia: Definitive Edition is playable on PS4.

OlliOlli World is Roll7’s latest title in the acclaimed skateboarding franchise, boasting a bombastic new aesthetic and tons of customization. Evil Dead: The Game is a PvEvP title which sees four survivors from across the Evil Dead universe battling against a Kandarian Demon and some Deadites. Destiny 2: Beyond Light is an expansion for the free-to-play title, which adds Stasis as a new Darkness subclass, a new campaign, and new gear.

As for Mafia: Definitive Edition, it’s a remake of the 2002 classic with improved visuals, quality-of-life features and better racing controls. Stay tuned when all four titles are free to claim next week. It’s also worth noting that PlayStation Plus Collection is going away on May 9th. Subscribers can still keep the titles if they’ve already redeemed them.

Some boss fights offer a modicum of hope. However, these 12 bosses will insist on crushing you right away with very little effort.

Boss fights where you have no chance of killing the boss, much less winning, are fairly typical in games. They serve a multitude of purposes, from advancing the narrative to kick-starting the player’s growth in power. Let’s take a look at 12 video game bosses that couldn’t be killed, no matter what you did. Story spoilers follow so be warned.

Phylaks, the Warrior – Destiny 2: Beyond Light

Much of the story in Destiny 2: Beyond Light focuses on harnessing the power of Stasis. Before that though, the player encounters Eramis in Riis-Reborn as she bestows Stasis powers to her followers in the House of Darkness. Upon being discovered, there’s no other choice but to run. Phylaks, the Warrior, also appears to stop you but is completely immune to any damage. Eventually you’ll come back and use the power of Stasis to defeat her before taking down Eramis herself.

Fan favorites like Twilight Oath and Loud Lullaby will finally be making a comeback with updated Power levels and new perks.

Sunsetting in Destiny 2 may have been effectively sunset but there are still plenty of guns that haven’t been able to reap these benefits. The Dreaming City and Moon weapons are a few and while Bungie announced that these would be reissued with new perks, it’s finally provided a release date. You can begin farming the new versions of these items on July 6th.

For the Moon, Loud Lullaby, One Small Step, Tranquility, Dream Breaker, Arc Logic and several more weapons will be making a return. Each can roll with new perks including Killing Wind on Every Waking Moment and Chain Reaction on Love and Death. The Dreaming City weapon offerings are a bit sparser and include Tigerspite, Twilight Oath and Abide the Return with new perks like Frenzy, Vorpal Weapon and Thresh respectively.

Nevertheless, that’s a healthy number of weapons overall for players to farm even before the next season drops. They’ll all drop from the same respective sources as before. As for what else the next major update could offer, stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

Its inclusion in the Season of the Chosen calendar was "incorrect."

Bungie recently released the first new Strike for Destiny 2 since Beyond Light’s release with Proving Grounds. Though part of Season of the Chosen, the Strike is free for all players. Unfortunately, the Nightfall version isn’t. The developer clarified that its inclusion in the season’s calendar was “incorrect.”

In order to play the Proving Grounds Nightfall, players will need the Beyond Light expansion and Season of the Chosen pass. Bungie will update the calendar going forward to reflect this. To be fair, when viewing an older version of the same, it does not in fact state the Nightfall version is free for all players (only the regular Strike).

This move is likely to get ahead of potential complaints from those who can’t access the Proving Grounds Nightfall when it’s in rotation. Regardless, if you want to partake in the game’s end-game activities, you need to own all of the latest content. Destiny 2’s Season of the Chosen is currently ongoing but will come to a close on May 11th. Stay tuned for more details on the next season in the coming weeks.

On the Season of the Chosen calendar, Proving Grounds Nightfall was listed as Free to All Players. This is incorrect, and players must own Beyond Light and the Season of the Chosen Season Pass to access this Nightfall.

The calendar will be updated to reflect this.

Battle the Cabal (again) on Nessus.

A new Strike is available now for Bungie’s Destiny 2 as part of Season of the Chosen. Proving Grounds sees a three-player fireteam venturing to Caiatl’s Imperial land talk on Nessus to challenge her chosen warrior. Check out the trailer below to see it in action.

If this looks a lot like Cerberus Vae III from Destiny 1, you’d be right. As players venture through the land tank, they’ll take out hordes of Cabal, Imperial walkers and other obstacles. Proving Grounds will enter the Strike playlist for all players on March 30th and also be available as a Nightfall activity.

Season of the Chosen’s next major activity is Guardian Games, which will be available to all players from April 20th to May 9th. A big change from previous iterations of the event is that players will need to stick with a single class throughout. There will also be a “closing ceremony” of sorts on May 7th to 9th. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

Shatterdive, Glacial Quake, and other Stasis abilities should be less oppressive now.

Bungie’s latest hotfix for Destiny 2 is now live, bringing the long-awaited fix to the Exotic rocket launcher Eyes of Tomorrow. Earned from the Deep Stone Crypt raid, the weapon was bugged to deal less damage than intended against Elite foes. This should now be fixed.

Perhaps the biggest part of this hotfix are the changes to Stasis. Sub-classes like Revenant have had abilities like Shatterdive nerfed with damage resistance being removed and each use having a four second cooldown. Withering Blade’s damage and slow stacks against players has also been reduced. As for Titans, Glacial Quake no longer create an AoE freeze on players in PvP.

Its damage reduction has also been reduced from 60 to 50 percent and the cost of using Shiver Strike has gone from three to seven percent of Super energy. Shadebinder Warlocks have seen some changes with Winter’s Wrath projectiles having improved tracking, though Penumbral Blast’s damage in PvP has gone back down to 30. For more details on all of the changes, check out the full patch notes here.
