Deadly Premonition developer's newest project out tomorrow.

Access Games has revealed that its upcoming Xbox One exclusive D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die will be releasing on September 19th for Xbox Live at $14.99. Yes, that’s tomorrow and no, there hasn’t been any prior indication that this would be happening.

The game comes from the warped mind of Hidetaka ‘Swery’ Suehiro who is known for his work on Deadly Premonition. Tomorrow’s release will include the game’s prologue and two beginning episodes. Kinect isn’t required to pull off the gestures showcased in the game, which is a relief considering the motion camera is no longer bundled with most consoles, and more content is reportedly on the way.

Check out the launch trailer for D4 above and marvel at some of the stranger things going on above. Will you be picking up D4 tomorrow for the Xbox One? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more information from TGS 2014.

Could be expansions to previous games.

Sony Online Entertainment has its hands full with a number of online titles like EverQuest Next, PlanetSide 2 – which is heading to the PS4 – and the zombie survival horror title H1Z1 but it may also be working on two new downloadable RPGs as well.

According to the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), Sony filed two trademarks on July 2nd for “The Darkened Sea” and “Altar of Malice”. These are registered to SOE’s office in San Diego and are described as downloadable RPGs. It’s possible that they may be expansions to current games or planned content for, say, EverQuest Next. Nonetheless, it’s interesting all the same.

Currently, PlanetSide 2 is slated to arrive on the PS4 in 2014 while EverQuest Next has no fixed release date. H1Z1 – also known as “DayZ for the PS4” – will be arriving this Fall though and emphasize teamwork above the usual “dog eat dog” mentality of most survival games.

After an initial delay – one that sees the retail version of the game further delayed till May 2nd in the UK – From Software’s Dark Souls is now available digitally for PC. It was originally launched on in mid-March for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Oddly though, the game has launched with several issues. Users have been reporting issues with system performance, controller support, crashes, bugs, etc. You can check out the official thread on Steam to find out about the number of issues it’s facing. As of now, Bandai Namco is looking to resolve all issues so look forward to updates on a patch within the week.

Have you picked up Dark Souls 2 on PC yet and if so, what kind of issues have you faced thus far? Let us know in the comments along with any improvements and new features you may have seen compared to the home console releases. Stay tuned.

Proclaims death of the "old guard".

Gears of War creator and overall industry veteran Cliff Bleszinski is currently preparing for his next project, rumoured to be called Silverstreak, and while speaking to Gamasutra, he reflected on the development of Gears of War.

“As far as [Gears], at the end of the day, you’re shooting fucking lizard-men in the fucking face with a fucking chainsaw gun. It didn’t wind up what I’d hoped; I’d pitched it as ‘Band of Brothers with monsters’ — you know Band of Brothers is well-done and emotional, telling the story of the Greatest Generation and what they did in the war.

“Yet somehow we landed on ‘Predator’… the characters being all ‘buff and manly’, I’d never planned on that. You can’t plan for that. With game development, it’s like doing a Ouija board. With [dialog barks] it gets easy to slip into Schwarzenegger territory.”

Despite the massive success of the series, Bleszinski doesn’t “want Gears to be my defining legacy. At the end of the day, it’s known for being a fun, fantastic franchise. But I’d like to think there’s more to my creativity than that.”

As for his upcoming game, Bleszinski has declined to offer any concrete details. However, it won’t be coming out on your usual retail discs. “The whole ‘old guard,’ where you get a Game Informer cover and an E3 reveal, is dead. I’ll never make another disc-based game for the rest of my career, and [at E3] they’re trying to woo buyers from Target and Walmart?”

Thoughts?

According to Gematsu, Bloober Team’s Basement Crawl has been delayed from its release this week into the first quarter of the year. It is a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

This isn’t because the game is incomplete though. CEO Piotr Babieno stated that, “While the completed version of Basement Crawl was prepped for launch during the last week, several exciting opportunities to partner with major industry players to enhance, refine and add-to the game arose.

“Although a difficult decision, we decided that the best choice for us, as a team, was to delay Basement Crawl so that we could take full advantage of these opportunities. We will be able leverage those new partnerships to further grow and improve the game while still providing an amazingly fun multiplayer experience for PS4 owners. We’ll be able to announce more details in the days and weeks to come.”

Were you looking forward to Basement Crawl? Let us know your thoughts on the delay in the comments.

Ubisoft has finally locked down the release date for the long-awaited Might & Magic X: Legacy, a follow-up to the classic PC RPG series which delivers a more straight-forward quest compared to contemporary titles. It will release on January 23rd 2014 as both a digital download and retail release.

A new dev diary has also been released, which showcases some small snippets of new gameplay. Check it out above.

The publisher stated that, “The development team at Limbic Entertainment would like to thank the very active Might & Magic community for its help to make Might & Magic 10: Legacy the best game possible. The Open Development phase allowed the development team to share its passion for the Might & Magic franchise by gathering feedback from fans, influencing the game’s features and final quality.”

Might & Magic X: Legacy was teased earlier this year by Ubisoft, and will signal a return to Ashen with references from previous games.

Though PopCap Interactive had announced that both Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and Peggle 2 would be timed exclusives for the Xbox One, the latter was to be released at launch for the Xbox One. It suffered a short delay though, but PopCap has thankfully announced that the upcoming puzzle game will be available on December 9th for the Xbox One. And yes, it’s still a timed exclusive.

New additions to Peggle 2 include coloured pegs, which bestow different special abilities and effects. For example, the orange pegs will make it easier for you to clear levels. Other than that, expect the same puzzle madness and fun that you enjoyed in the previous release – which made more than a pretty penny for PopCap alongside the Plants vs. Zombies franchise.

Peggle 2 will be available as a digital download on Xbox Live and will retail for $11.99. Stay tuned for more details as the official release nears.

Consumers affected by disc drive issues can choose a free digital game for the Xbox One.

The Xbox One has been fairly successful since launch but it’s seen its fair share of hardware issues since launch, especially with reports of faulty Blu-ray disc drives. Now, Microsoft is promising a free digital game download for fans who have been affected, according to an email received by Polygon from a support rep.

“While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios.” You’ll be able to choose between Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome and Zoo Tycoon according to Eurogamer.

As of now, only a small number of units have been affected since the Xbox One launched, with Microsoft promising to take care of affected consoles in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more details.

Konami has released Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD digitally but only for the PlayStation 3 via PSN. The game is priced at £9.99/€11.99 and serves as an interquel between the two console games, focusing on Gabriel’s descendants Simon and Trevor Belmont. Originally released for the Nintendo 3DS, Mirror of Fate HD sees the 2D side-scrolling platformer updated with HD visuals for the current-generation consoles.

Much like the GBA Castlevania title, Mirror of Fate HD allows you to use several different abilities and skills while exploring Dracula’s castle full of horrors. It also feature a good amount of combos via its strategic combat system and you’ll be able to play as different characters across several eras in the quest to end Dracula.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD is also available for the Xbox 360. Have you played the original 3DS version? If so, let us know what you think of the update port.
