Sony’s MLB The Show 21 has already been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass on day one but Microsoft has some other heavy hitters coming this month. On April 8th, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Zombie Army 4: Dead War will be available on the surface, both for consoles and cloud while the latter also arrives on PC. Considering that Zombie Army 4 is included in PlayStation Plus for April, it’s good to see Xbox players also getting it for free.

Also coming on April 8th is Disneyland Adventures and Rush: A Disney/Pixar Adventure, both playable through the cloud. The former is about exploring Disneyland and its various attractions while the latter sees players exploring worlds from films like Finding Dory, Toy Story, Up and so on. NHL 21 arrives on April 12th for console via EA Play while Rain on Your Parade, an intriguing game about a cardboard cloud that ruins everything, is out on April 15th for consoles, PC and cloud.

Chucklefish’s tactical strategy title Pathway arrives on April 15th for PC while MLB The Show 21 releases on April 20th for console and cloud. This is most likely just the first wave of titles announced for Xbox Game Pass so stay tuned for more details later this month. Of course, a number of titles will also be leaving this month. While Microsoft is now publishing more PC games than it has in years, very few of them actually make their way to Steam, which remains the premier distribution platform for PC games, and almost synonymous with PC gaming (for good or for bad…) at this point. Microsoft, of course, is trying to push its own Windows Store platform, so it makes sense- but while they wait for sales there to actually begin mattering to any appreciable degree, it seems like they are fine with some of their smaller games coming over to Steam in the meanwhile.

Not that they will be bringing said games over themselves- according to an early report published on Worth Playing, it sounds like THQ Nordic has signed a deal to bring over five of Microsoft’s games over to Steam for them. These games are ReCore: Definitive Edition, Super Lucky’s Tale, Disneyland Adventures, Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure, and Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection.

Microsoft, of course, has seen some of its first party content release on Steam in the past, such as Halo Wars: Definitive Edition and Quantum Break, so in that sense, this isn’t much of a change from them. Now, if Forza Horizon 4 were to launch on Steam too, for example, then it could be seen as them throwing in the towel on the Windows Store initiative…

With another month comes another set of games added to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service, allowing players unlimited access to download and play a growing library of first and third party Xbox One and PC titles. With the new June additions, 183 titles are available to play. 

We’ve left all of the game descriptions below the story, but players can look forward to Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, Wasteland 2, Technomancer, MotoGP17, Next Up Hero and Disneyland Adventures, which is also for Windows 10. 

If I had to recommend any of these titles, I’m a sucker for Mega Man, and Legacy Collection 2 has a nice variety of titles from the later works of the blue bomber. What do you think of this month’s additions? Sound off in the comments below.

Next Up Hero

Inspired by classic games like Zelda: Four Swords and Smash TV, this is a crazy-fast co-op dungeon crawler with unique heroes, epic loot, and tough-as-nails monsters that will kill you. A lot. Every time you die, you leave behind an echo who can be raised by the next hero to fight as AI followers. The more heroes die, the more echoes are raised, and the stronger the community grows and a robust community is needed to take down the most punishing levels in the game. Xbox Game Pass members can look forward to playing Next Up Hero this June, the same day its available digitally on the Microsoft Store.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is also packed with a host of new features, such as extra challenges, a museum of Mega Man history, and much more.

The Technomancer

Forge the destiny of Mars in this action-RPG set on a cyberpunk planet during the War of Water. Technomancers are mage-warriors who use their innate ability to harness destructive electrical powers. Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut

When words fail, bullets prevail. In Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut, the ultimate edition of Wasteland 2, you take on the role of a Desert Ranger – a lawman dedicated to civilizing the post-apocalyptic world. You’ll visit dozens of locations carved out by survivors of the post-atomic age, bringing with you your own brand of frontier justice.  Your decisions in dealing with the factions of the Wasteland will determine the fate of its people, as well as your own.

Disneyland Adventures (Xbox Play Anywhere Title)

Travel to Disneyland where dreams come true and explore the magic of the kingdom! With 18 iconic attractions, there are adventures waiting around every corner for fans of all ages. Get your camera ready to stroll the park and meet the Disney princesses along with all of Mickey Mouse’s friends. Watch stories come to life as you fall through the rabbit hole into Alice’s Wonderland and battle Captain Hook with Peter Pan. Just remember to hang on tight during all of Disneyland’s rides!

Microsoft’s exclusive games situation continues to remain dire (unless that PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds Xbox exclusivity turns out to be permanent), but never fear, Microsoft will be… not doing much about it. Instead, you can go back and play three low key Xbox One games, Disneyland Adventures, Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure, and Zoo Tycoon, which will be remastered for Xbox One with new content, and be available on October 31.

Two of those games were Xbox 360 Kinect games, while Zoo Tycoon was actually an Xbox One launch game; all three games will be playable with Kinect (yes, Microsoft actually acknowledged that the Kinect exists), but also with the Xbox One controller, in case you don’t want to faff around with the motion controls for no reason.

For family friendly game fans on Xbox, these three should nonetheless be fun- they will also be followed by Super Lucky’s Tale on November 7, so it should be good times all around.
