Disruptor Beam have announced that they have begun work on a new Star Trek project- a strategy role playing game which allows fans to explore the Star Trek multiverse across all eras.

“We want to create a new generation of strategy game for tablet and mobile devices and one that is as large and deep as the Star Trek universe itself,” said Jon Radoff, CEO of Disruptor Beam. “I grew up watching the franchise and have always felt that the best episodes were those that went beyond the coolness of the technology or vastness of space; the ones which told the story of characters making important decisions that had an impact on others, on civilizations, planets, and technology. Star Trek Timelines will encompass all of these concepts, allowing you to explore the vastness of space along with your friends—letting you live out the ‘where no man has gone before’ mantra we all love—but will also allow you to make decisions that impact your future, your friends and even the fate of the Galaxy.”

Fans might be disappointed that this game is for mobile and tablet devices, instead of being brought to PC, consoles, and handhelds, but it sounds like it might be a nice fit for its targeted systems after all. The game had a strong number of 500,000 installs in the open beta phase that launched on February 21st. New content is being added alongside the show’s airing of new episodes, and players can participate in the events of the show as well.

Disruptor Beam CEO Jon Radoff states that it is “a unique transmedia experience” and will work with Zynga to “continue to make this game a true extension of HBO’s renowned series Game of Thrones.”
