“The game made its global debut on March 28 with strong ratings from both players and critics,” said the company in its earnings call. “While Q1 revenue was below our outlook, the game achieved our objective as a strategic first step in a multi-year plan to introduce Dungeon & Fighter IP to a global audience.”

The Dungeon & Fighter franchise is around a decade old at this point. However, it has only really been known in east-Asian markets, thanks to MMO beat ‘em up game Dungeon Fighter Online. Nexon has previously tried to bring more global attention to the franchise with the release of games like DNF Duel, but had failed to spark interest in the IP until the release of The First Berserker: Khazan.

Dungeon Fighter Online revolves around players taking on the role of characters dubbed Dungeon Fighters as they take part in various adventures across the world of Arad. The core gameplay revolves around fast-paced actions and dungeon crawling, where players can take on dangerous enemies and progress their character through level ups as well as by finding new equipment.

The First Berserker: Khazan takes place in the same setting, and expands on one of the key time periods of the backstory. The action RPG revolves around the eponymous Khazan, who is saved from the brink of death by the Blade Phantom. A deal is struck between them, and they set off to investigate a mysterious force that is causing disruptions in the flow of souls from the northern parts of Arad.

Developer Neople has continued to support The First Berserker: Khazan through post-launch update since its release. The most recent one, out earlier this week, brought with it two Boss Rush modes. Described as modes that offer the “Ultimate Challenge”, players can take part in what is essentially meant to be post-game content once they have finished the main story. The two Boss Rush modes are dubbed the Great General’s Crucible and Berserker’s Bloodshed.

The First Berserker: Khazan is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. For more details about the action RPG, check out our review. While The First Berserker: Khazan has been a critical and commercial success, Nexon also has another game in the Dungeon & Fighter world in the works. Dubbed Dungeon and Fighter: ARAD, the game is currently in development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It doesn’t yet have a release date, however.

Going by the latest trailer, Nen Master seems to have a variety of moves that can be comboed into each other, culminating in a massive finishing move that destroys her enemies. The character seemingly also has options for which super move to use in her combos, with some acting as smaller finishers, while others act as extenders for her combos.

Nen Master follows Monk, Battle Mage, Brawler, and Spectre as a DLC fighter part of the DNF Duel season pass.

It is currently unknown whether there will be continued support for DNF Duel in the form of a new season pass, or if Nen Master will be the final big addition to the game. DNF Duel is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

Nen Master will be the next character to be added to DNF Duel. Her reveal trailer is a brief one and doesn’t give much away about what she will bring to the battlefield, but her trailer description suggests she has the ability to harness nature, which could be interesting. She will arrive sometime this summer. A specific release date is currently unknown.

Nen Master will be the fifth and final character in DNF Duel’s Season Pass. Over the past year, the game has added Spectre, Brawler, Battle Mage, and Monk. There’s currently no word on whether Nexon intends to keep the game’s post-launch support going with another Season Pass.

DNF Duel is available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Going by previous trailers showcasing Monk, the new character is set to present quite a nasty time to his opponents with his combos and juggling capabilities. Monk can also make use of his various rush attacks to help close the distance, since fighting at range seems to be a weakness for the character.

Monk follows Spectre, Battle Mage, and Brawler in the list of DLC characters that have so far been released for DNF Duel. The game is also set to get one more DLC character later this year. Whether there are plans for additional characters after the fifth DLC is released, however, is currently unknown. Currently, each DLC fighter is available individually, or as part of a season pass priced at $19.99.

Monk relies on his fist and has some pretty nasty combos and juggles. Closing the distance is also easy, thanks to various rush attacks, though his range may not be the strongest. A more detailed character guide video should go live in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

As the fourth DLC character, Monk joins the likes of Spectre, Battle Mage, and Brawler. The fifth and final DLC character is out later this year, and it’s unknown if publisher Nexon will release any more, especially given the reception to the title.

To claim DNF Duel, you need an Epic Games account, while playing it requires the Epic Games Launcher. It’s only the base game and doesn’t include the Season Pass content. The roster features 16 characters with Free Battle, Arcade Mode, Survival Mode and Story Mode available offline. You also have Training, Tutorial, Gallery, Glossary and more.

Online modes include regular and Ranked matches, though the player base on PC is far from ideal. Nevertheless, there’s still plenty of content in Story Mode for each character. Check out our review for more details.

DNF Duel is also available for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Battle Mage is its third DLC character, with two more arriving in 2024. The next free game on the Epic Games Store arrives on December 21st at 8 AM PST, so stay tuned.

Her Awakening Skill, “Quasar Explosion”, throws down a large Chaser, which creates an enormous explosion. Battle Mage is considered beginner-friendly, with Chaser usage having a higher skill ceiling. In addition to her arrival, a new stage, Meister’s Laboratory, is available for all players.

DNF Duel is available for PC, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. It recently launched on the Epic Games Store, and cross-play with Steam users is supported. As the second Awakening of the Mage class, the Battle Mage is all about melee combat and magic. She utilizes spheres called Chasers infused with elemental energy and moves very quickly when striking with her spear. Some Special Attacks can even hold an opponent in place as she follows up.

Like other fighters, Brawler can use two Awakening Skills – Gold Cube at 30 percent or less HP and Clear Cube at 50 percent or less HP. He’s the second DLC character after Spectre, with three more fighters set to join the roster as part of its Season Pass. The third is due to be released in Winter with a new stage.

Brawler’s fighting style focuses on “by any means necessary,” which involves rolling explosive barrels, Venom Mines, a net and chains. However, he has plenty of options for transitioning into moves, like the sliding kick following a successful explosion from the barrels. His comeback potential is also pretty crazy, though that’ll depend as much on the player’s skill.

Brawler joins the roster on September 14th as part of the current Season Pass (with an option to purchase standalone). Stay tuned for more details when he goes live.
