Clearly, this means a new F-Zero is coming.

Australian singer Donna Burke, most recently prominent in gaming circles for her work on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, is now apparently working with Nintendo on something, according to a tweet she shared. What is she working on? Who knows? Her tweet doesn’t say anything, other than her finding it “an honor” to work with the venerated Japanese company.

Burke’s tweet was posted from Kyoto- so whatever it is, it is not for a studio like Retro, NST, or NERD (which are all based in North America or Europe)- it’s something with Nintendo’s EPD studios, most likely. As for what it could be, it is totally up in the air- Nintendo games usually feature minimal voice acting, with few exceptions. A popular theory is she could be Samus in Metroid Prime 4, but that’s all it is, a theory.

Whatever it is, she’s top tier talent- and it’s great to see Nintendo have her on board for whatever it is she is working with them on. Hopefully, we find out what it is some time soon.

Metal Gear Solid track vocalist is "interested" in what Kojima is creating next.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain director Hideo Kojima has been on the down-low a bit since the game’s release. Though we’ve heard reports of him leaving Konami and having his last day at the office (which Konami subsequently refuted), there hasn’t been any real concrete information on what Kojima has been up to, even with rumours swelling about his appearance at this Thursday’s The Game Awards.

Interestingly enough, singer Donna Burke who sang “Heaven’s Divide” for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and “Sins of the Father” for The Phantom Pain’s E3 2013 Red Band trailer provided some clues regarding the same. When speaking to MetalGearSolid.be, Burke was asked about Kojima Productions being disbanded and fans feeling left out.

She responded by saying, “I’m very interested, curious and excited to see what Hideo Kojima is going to be creating next. I’ve heard he will still be based in Tokyo. But all will soon be revealed!”

The last line is particularly interesting – why would Burke be interested in what Kojima is creating next and then say “all will soon be revealed”? Regardless, it seems that something is going on with Hideo Kojima and it’s no coincidence that such buzz is occurring when The Game Awards are around the corner. Stay tuned for more information in the meantime and let us know what you think in the comments.

Donna Burke will be taking fan questions for the Kojima Productions Alert Podcast on July 18th.

Donna Burke, who sings the theme song “Sins of the Father” for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be guest starring on the Kojima Productions Alert Podcast on July 18th at 5:30 PM PST, and Konami is giving fans the opportunity to submit questions for the Q&A segment on the show. So if you want to know more about the singer and her work with Kojima Productions, this is the best chance.

Donna Burke has an extensive track record, including singing songs for anime like Turn-A Gundam, Haibane Renmei, Vandread, Tokimeki Memorial and for games such as Tales of Legendia, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker where she sang “Heavens Divide”. She has also been a voice actor in games such as Silent Hill, OutRun 2 and Shenmue.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will continue the story of Big Boss, along with Miller, Ocelot and Emmerich with varying themes of revenge, tragedy of war, child soldiers and much more gruesomeness by way of the recently released red band trailer for the same. It will release for Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PS4.
