"You can't revert to a previous save. When you decide to kill an NPC in the game, that's it for them until the end of the story."

Vampyr, Dontnod’s upcoming vampire RPG, is going to make your actions in game count. For instance, while it lets you take the lives of NPCs, each of your actions have very real and meaningful consequence. If you kill an NPC in game, that’s it for them- they’re gone for the rest of the game, the game autosaves at that point, you can’t revert to an older game to get them back. In that regard, it works a lot like From Software’s Souls games.

Speaking to OXM about this in their May issue, Dontnod’s narrative director Stephane Beauverger noted that this actually adds meaning to the game. “The ultimate experience in the game is knowing that if you take a life, you can’t go back,” he said. “You can’t revert to a previous save. When you decide to kill an NPC in the game, that’s it for them until the end of the story.”

While this won’t stop players from killing NPCs- what kind of a vampire game would this be if you weren’t doing that?- it, at the very least, adds meaning and should give players pause before they commit to any action. As Beauverger noted, that should enrich the experience of playing Vampyr that much more when it launches on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC later this year.

The polarizing conclusion to Max’s journey is here.

One of the best and most touching games of this generation was Life is Strange, Dontnod’s seminal, breakout graphic adventure game starring the adventures of a teenage girl with the ability to reverse time. Life is Strange went on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide, and garner an active fan base—a sequel season is currently in development, and a prequel was launched last year to great acclaim as well.

Life is Strange was also available on iOS platforms last year—but only the first three episodes of the five episode season were. Now, a new update makes the final two episodes also available, including Episode 4, which is arguably the best one in the series, and the final episode, the polarizing conclusion which continues to divide fans to this day. What this means is, iOS players will now have the option to purchase the final two episodes and finish the story of Max, should they wish to.

Life is Strange is available on iOS, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

An extensive look at the upcoming action RPG.

The makers of Life is Strange are on the cusp of releasing their next game- the action RPG about vampires, called Vampyr, which launches in June this year- and as a result, we have been seeing more and more of it in the last few days.

Now, we get to see an additional six minutes of gameplay footage for the game, thanks to YouTuber Gamesworld Gameplay. Six minutes of continuous and uninterrupted gameplay footage is one of the deepest and most extensive looks we have had at the game so far- fans looking forward to the title are likely to appreciate the video.

You can check it out for yourself below. Vampyr will launch this June on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will channel cRPGs of old with its non linearity and role playing options offered to the players. Meanwhile, fans of Life is Strange needn’t worry- Dontnod is working on Life is Strange 2 as well, and we should hopefully hear more of it once Vampyr is released.

Recreating 1918 London.

Dontnod’s next game is very atypical for them- rather than another adventure game with a female lead, such as Remember Me and Life is Strange, their new game is going to be Vampyr, an action RPG about, well, vampires. The game is slated for a release soon- and ahead of that release, Dontnod and publisher Focus Home have been sharing behind the scenes videos on the development of the game.

Today, we got a second one, talking about the visuals and music in the game, and how they strove to recreate an authentic 1918 atmosphere and vibe with them. The video also discusses how London in the game will be separated into four distinct “districts”, each visually and musically separate. You can check out the video for yourself for more details.

Originally slated for release late last year, Vampyr is now due to launch in Spring 2018. It will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Plus a new video on the "Farewell" episode, too.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm, the three episode prequel miniseries for Dontnod’s breakout hit graphic adventure game, was better than it had any right to be. It was a prequel, it didn’t have the original game’s beloved main character, and it didn’t have its signature gameplay mechanic.

And yet, it turned out great. It turned out fantastic, really. And if you’ve been waiting for the series to be complete before you jump in, now would be the best time to do so, since the series is complete, and you can now jump in. And Square Enix will incentivize you by releasing not one but three editions for the game’s physical release.

There will be a standard release, a Limited Edition, and a Vinyl Edition. You can find details for all three below, as well as a new video about the upcoming “Farewell” episode for the series, which lets us say goodbye to Chloe, Max, and Arcadia Bay once and for all. Life is Strange: Before the Storm is out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Don't nod, but there's new information on Vampyr coming.

Dontnod, best known for their strong adventure games such as Remember Me and Life is Strange, are going to be doing something different for their next game- Vampyr is an action RPG from the studio about, well, vampires. It was originally due out by the end of last year, but it will now be coming out this year.

And to drum up the hype for it, Dontnod and Focus Home Interactive will be sharing a new webseries on the game; the webseries will have four episodes, and will focus on the making of the game. It will also have new gameplay footage, for those of you who want to simply see more of the game.

The first episode will be out on January 18, and it is called “Making Monsters”. Episode II: Architects of the Obscure, Episode III: Human After All, and Episode IV: Stories From the Dark are the three that will follow. You can check out a teaser for the series below. Vampyr launches in Spring 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Arcadia Bay, now in 4K.

The second episode of the three part prequel series to 2015’s breakout hit, beloved graphic adventure Life is Strange, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, is available now. The new episode is called Brave New World, and it continues Chloe’s story (leading in directly to the events of the original Life is Strange).

For people who were interested in Chloe’s life before Max’s return to Arcadia Bay, and Rachel Amber, her best friend whose disappearance was the crux of much of the original game’s plot, this new episode is a must-play. For people interested in the tech side of things, this is still going to be an important release, because Life is Strange: Before the Storm is now enhanced for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X with this new installment. The striking art the series uses should stand out in 4K for sure.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A Life is Strange 2, with all new characters, is under development at Dontnod as well.

Vampires, hunters and chaos rule London.

Dontnod may be working on the second season of Life is Strange (which is separate from Deck Nine’s Life is Strange: Before The Storm) but for now, it’s focused on Vampyr.

This action RPG sees players taking on the role of doctor Jonathan Reid, a vampire who must choose to either feed on people or deny his hunger. The presence of vampire hunters and the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic in London don’t help matters.

In a recent gameplay tour courtesy of IGN, we get to see how the character interactions, dialogue and combat in Vampyr play out. It’s all very intriguing as Reid interacts with Dr. Swansea of Pembroke Hospital to ensure the safety of its patients. This is part of one of four districts in London that must be stable if the player wishes to avoid destruction.

Vampyr is out in November for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. What are your thoughts on the gameplay tour? Let us know in the comments.

Focus currently on Before The Storm.

Though one was happy as happy could be to see Chloe Price return for the prequel-esque Life is Strange: Before The Storm, a part of me did want a sequel and the original team at Dontnod to be working on it.

Fortunately, in a recent Steam Community blog post, the developer confirmed that Before The Storm is the second Life is Strange project in development. Dontnod is still very much working on a new game.

“So yes, that means there are now TWO Life is Strange projects in development, with DONTNOD Entertainment having also recently announced that they are also working on a new game. You’ll be the first to hear when we have more news on their game but for now, let’s focus on the newly announced Life is Strange: Before the Storm.”

It makes sense, especially when Dontnod itself said the Life is Strange sequel wouldn’t be at E3 2017 but Before The Storm was. Overall, more Life is Strange can’t be a bad thing for any fan, even if it will be a while before the sequel is showcased.

Life is Strange: Before The Storm sees its first episode release on August 31st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
