While Xbox Game Pass has been praised for providing a wide selection of titles for both PC and Xbox subscribers, it also supports Android gaming via the cloud. This allows for playing big-name games on tablets and phones. But what if you wanted to turn your phone into a retro gaming device? Microsoft has you covered.

On Xbox Wire, the company announced that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers could now play 16 Xbox and Xbox 360 titles on Android phones and tablets via backwards compatible. Check out all of the games below with some having touch controls enabled.

Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo-Tooie

Double Dragon Neon

Fable 2

Fallout: New Vegas

Gears of War 2

Gears of War 3

Gears of War: Judgment

Jetpac Refuelled (touch controls enabled)

Kameo

Perfect Dark

Perfect Dark Zero

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

Viva Piñata (touch controls enabled)

Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise (touch controls enabled)

More games will be “coming soon” to the service, expanding on the retro functionality even more. Xbox Game Pass continues to grow with more games added each month. Even big new releases like People Can Fly’s Outriders are joining the service at launch. What the future holds for retro games remains to be seen but being able to take some of them on the go is a nice bonus.

They may seem cool in video games but not so much in the real world.

Some of the wildest and weirdest weapons can appear in video games, catering to our power fantasies while being fun to use. However, as cool as some may look, they’re not all meant for real life usage. In fact, some of them might outright suck when brought into the real world. Let’s take a look at 14 weapons that fall into this trap.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain – Bionic Arm

Let’s be real – the technology for propulsion systems in prosthetic arms isn’t there. Ditto for effectively shocking, exploding or teleporting someone. So while the Bionic Arm in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain would be heavy enough to hit someone in real life, it’s not going to be more effective than a gun. We could see it making an effective clubbing weapon while being sneaky but again, there are more practical and compact weapons for that. Even if you managed to translate all of its in-game functions to real-life, it would require an absurd amount of maintenance on top of better alternatives being available.

Have some acid-washed retro 80's art in your classic brawler.

Billy and Jimmy, if you haven’t heard, have returned and they are apparently “more radical than ever”. Oddly, despite having to save “their shared love interest Marian”, they do go up against a dude named Skullmageddeon in Majesco Entertainment’s Double Dragon Neon.

The retooled 2D beat-em-up is now available on PlayStation Network for PS3 and Xbox Live Arcade for XBox 360.

WayForward wants to put a “radical new art direction pulled directly from the 1980s, in an acid-washed, electrical, over-the-top celebration of that decade’s aesthetics” to Double Dragon Neon – which is good. Now whether people actually like it is a different issue. How well it puts across the classic Double Dragon gameplay rather than overshadowing it is up for debate.

You can pick up Double Dragon Neon on PSN for €7/$9.99 and on Xbox live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points. And if you’re one of those Playstation Plus people, you can play the game for free from now until January (lucky you).

In this case, drugs were involved, yes.

Billy and Jimmy are back, and they are…pinker. Wayforward and Majesco Entertainment have updated the classic franchise for Double Dragon: Neon and put a powerful acid-tripped, retro, 1980’s art style into effect.

The same beat-em-up style seems in effect, but the game really looks…like something. At least people get beaten up realistically enough, for a Double Dragon game that is.

Double Dragon: Neon is available on PlayStation Network for $9.99 and on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points.

Of course, if you go the Playstation Plus route, you can play Double Dragon: Neion free throughout January.
