Not as storage heavy as I was expecting, seriously.

Oh boy, here she comes people, and she’s a big one! Well, depending on your platform of choice anyway. Dragon Age Inquisition’s installation size’s have finally been revealed alongside some information to do with graphical settings as well as Voice Over specifics, oddly enough this is something that’s rarely addressed but often requested, so well played on that front.

A PC install will munch up 24gb’s of your disk space, with a 2gig variable depending on your language choice and the deluxe build will throw in an extra 100mb of requirements. Those of you rocking a PS4 or Xbox One will roll up to the party with an install size of a variable 40-46gb install with a 5-7gb initial install. Xbox 360: 8gb install – PS3: 6gb install for disk and 19gb for PSN.

Now for the very much appreciated details for those of you concerned with visuals. If you know about the whole, Low, Medium, High, Very High and Ultra settings for PC, this will please you. “Next gen is mostly on high, water won’t look quite as good but the game is definitely comparable at least to my eye.”

This, is solid information, and it pleases me.

Bioware, the developers of the upcoming and massively anticipated open world RPG Dragon Age Inquisition are hosting a live stream twitch event today at 10am Pacific Time, 1pm Eastern Time and 6PM in the UK. The stream will be on their Twitch channel and will focus on the Skyhold, the fortress that serves as the Inquisitions base of operations.

Alongside this Skyhold viewing that will give you a “deeper” understanding of your teams home, Bioware have also said that they plan to answer questions from the fans viewing the event, this is according to the games producer Cameron Lee.

Dragon Age Inquisition, as I’m sure you already know, is set tot launch November 18th of this year and will be making a cross generational appearance, launching on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. This is following on from two heavy delays. But the game is indeed shaping up to be a contender for game of the year if it can live up to its promises.

Wait, I get to keep the castle? Sign me up.

So what’s this “Skyhold” place that you’ve been hearing about? Well that’s simple really. When you and your brave company return from a dangerous foray, weary and quite possibly wounded, you need a place to lay down your weapons and armour so you can rest and recover.

When you first begin your adventures, you’re gathering point will be the Village of Haven. When your inquisition is grown and ready, then you can move into Skyhold. But don’t expect to wander into an opulent castle of beautiful design.

When you first come across the Skyhold “There are holes in the roofs, it’s wrecked, you can’t even go to the entire castle because they haven’t cleared out the rubble yet,” according to the creative director from Bioware’s Edmonton Studio, Mike Laidlaw. So she requires a bit of love and repair, but all good things in due time. “Over time, as you progress through the story, you get to see it rebuilt and more areas open up. It goes from ‘kind of wrecked castle’ to ‘your castle.’ The walls are fixed. Your soldiers are patrolling. You see your support staff growing in number. Merchants come to set up station. You get that feeling of it becoming a grand, central hub.”

Similar to the War Room from the popular Mass Effect franchise (which just so happens to also be a Bioware title) the war table is where you will house the central command of the Inquisition when inside the Skyhold. This is where you will make all the important decisions that will see you grow as a leader and a commander.

The Skyhold is a truly important aspect of Dragon Age Inquisition and as we find out more about it, we get some peeks at just how deep and intricate the game is unfolding to be. Serving as both central hub and home of the victorious, Skyhold is just one more nice little addition to the already superb looking game.

The first multiplayer trailer for the upcoming RPG.

Dragon Age is a series near and dear to many gamers hearts and Dragon Age Inquisition is the hype train that just keeps on chugging along the tracks to release. Today, the Dragon Age Inquisition Multiplayer Gameplay trailer was revealed. And I got be honest, it’s pretty awesome. No pre-rendered nonsense here, just solid gameplay, that’s how you do it.

Featuring “4 player co-op adventures”, “12 powerful characters” and “extensive customization”, the video looks very similar to the Mass Effect 3 school of 4 player co-op which, by the way, is not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination.

Similar to Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer, players can combine their powers to increase the overall damage of the combo attack. Use a paralysing attack and then follow up with a powerful AOE attack, so on and so forth, you get the picture. The inclusion of 12 characters is a clever move because that instantly boosts replay value without making it feel like a slog. Once again, for comparison, remember all those awesome character classes in Mass Effect 3? Exactly, lots of play time!

Did I mention it looks awesome? Because it really really does. Don’t believe me? See for yourself.

So, you're telling me I can spend more time in the game? Neat, sign me up.

Do you remember when your first played through Dragon Age Origins and around the 60 hour point you questioned what you were doing with your life? I do, a ridiculous amount of time was put into that gem of a game.Well Mike Laidlaw from Bioware, who is the creative director of the game, aims to replicate that and is apparently on course for succeeding.

Speaking about just how long the game is going to be, he recently told GamingBolt, “It’s borderline impossible to tell at this point, it’s a lot. We built it basically to say “here is a bunch of content, you do not have to do it all of it by any means to finish the story, but you may want too.” So, we want players to feel like they kind of have their unique experience and to do that you need to spread things out say “look, you may pursue this, you may pursue that.”

I personally can’t wait to get my hands on the game and I know I’m not alone in that. I went back and played through DA:O and DA II just to refresh my memory. But once he said “There is a bunch of stuff that are optional. Once you finish the game and finish the storyline you can go back and tackle it then if you want”, I just knew that vast swaths of my time have already been destined to pass playing Dragon Age Inquisition.

Dragon Age Inquisition will feature a wide range of skills and abilities.

Speaking to Dragon Age Inquisition’s creative director, Mike Laidlaw, GamingBolt asked about the game’s skills tree and the different types of abilities the player will have access too. Laidlaw confirmed that there will be over 200 of them, with many of them specific to each class.

“There is a wide range of them. When you add together all the upgrades, all the abilities, all the passives and everything you put towards your combat to make it all better there is an excessive of 200. The player will be able to purchase them, actives of course can be mapped so people can use them and other ones that permanently take less damage from arrows from the front are passive.”

“And of course, they do divide by class, so your Warriors have a different tree from the Rogues, different trees for the Mages. In addition to that, there are specializations as well. We’ve actually doubled-down on it being “special” because you have one now and you have too choose. The specializations are more robust than they’ve been in the past, they offer few more talents and really kind of push your character in a different direction than they would otherwise.”

“We’ve talked about some options such as the Assassins who’s a classic damage dealer, big hits, single target kind of vibe for the Rogue, great with an Archer and works well with daggers too. Then the Articifer is more of a trap-master, he is the guy who sneaks up and knows that everyone’s doomed as soon as they start walking to his direction. Letting you feel like there is a distinct play-style that you can adopt and say “oh ok, cool. This is how I am gonna pursue my class and my character and build my party.” I think is really intriguing. ,” he said.

The tech team is working hard on that front according the game's creative director.

Dragon Age Inquisition is shaping up to be Bioware’s finest title in recent years. As we previously reported, each level in Dragon Age Inquisition is as big as Dragon Age Origins. Continuing our coverage of the game, we asked Mike Laidlaw from Bioware who is the creative director of the game, about the expected resolution and frame rate of the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Mike revealed that he is not sure what the final targets are but it will all be detailed before launch. “Actually, I don’t know what the target is for sure. The tech guys are still hammering that, we’ll get details out before launch,” he said to GamingBolt.

Here is hoping that they reach 1080p and 30fps on the PS4 and Xbox One versions. We feel that 60 fps is not a necessity for an open world game like Dragon Age Inquisition so a rock solid 30fps would do. Dragon Age Inquisition was recently delayed to November 2014 and will release across the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Inquisition will probably redefine the word 'massive.'

Dragon Age Inquisition was showcased in full glory at last week’s E3. We have no doubts that it was one one of the best games showcased at E3 besides the likes of Witcher 3 and Sunset Overdrive. GamingBolt got the chance to speak with Mike Laidlaw from Bioware who is the creative director of the game and among the various topics we discussed, we got to know how big the map will be in Inquisition.

Not only does Dragon Age Inquisition looks absolutely gorgeous but its map size is absolutely massive. But is it bigger than the one we found in Origins and Dragon Age 2 combined? The entire region from Dragon Age Origins will fit into a single level of Inquisition. Now that is massive.

“You can take the whole of [Dragon Age] Origins and the level we are demonstrating today and it will fit, all of it. The game is a multi-regional open world, it’s not like one big space. But if you travel you will come across places which are full of demons or may be a desert. They all have a distinct feel. So ye, if you can fit one game in one of the levels, we can fit of two of them with no problem in Inquisition,” Mike Laidlaw said to GamingBolt.

That is impressive.

Dragon Age Inquisition will release across a number of platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on October 7th.

Bioware Montreal studio director meanwhile trolls the media.

Studio director at BioWare Montréal Yanick Roy is a fun dude. A few months ago he stated that the next Mass Effect would be running on the Frostbite Engine. At the time, everyone assumed he meant Frostbite 2. Today, Roy tweeted the following:

This BF4 gameplay video is spectacular, and a great way to see what the engine of the next Mass Effect is capable of! battlefield.com

— Yanick Roy (@YanickRRoy) March 27, 2013

Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo pointed out how he thought that Frostbite 2 was being used, which lead to Roy clarifying that he never specified which version was being used.

Then again, we did sort of think that it meant the next iteration of Frostbite. Just that it would be a modified version of Frostbite 2, tentatively referred to as Frostbite 2.5.

Totilo then brought up a link from EA PR itself which said that Frostbite 2 was being used. Roy’s response?

@stephentotilo LOL! Apparently, we keep secrets even from them! 😉

— Yanick Roy (@YanickRRoy) March 27, 2013

So there: Let it not be said that game devs can not keep secrets from the world and then successfully gloat about it afterwards.

On the plus side, this means the next generation of Bioware RPGs are going to look better than ever. Thoughts?
