Dragon Quest Builders 2 will also be playable on the cloud, allowing fans of the sandbox RPG to enjoy it on the go. On July 15th, titles like Bloodroots and Farming Simulator 19 are landing for all platforms on the service while The Medium will be playable via the cloud.

Of course, certain titles are leaving this month as well. EA Sports UFC and EA Sports UFC 2 will be gone on July 14th from EA Play. Meanwhile, Endless Space 2 and Downwell are leaving Xbox Game Pass for PC along with CrossCode for all platforms on July 15th. Square Enix has been bringing a lotof its back catalog over to Xbox over the past year, from multiple Final Fantasy games to Dragon Quest 11 to, most recently, Octopath Traveler. Now, another game from its Japanese side of the business that skipped Xbox initially has launched for Microsoft’s system. Minecraft-inspired building sandbox action RPG Dragon Quest Builders 2 is out today for Xbox One, and also available on Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility.

As confirmed earlier, the game is also joining the the Xbox Game Pass catalog in all of its variants- console, PC, and cloud. It is available on the service starting today. Other games coming to Xbox Game Pass this month include Just Cause 4, Red Dead Online, Outlast 2, Psychonauts, and more. Get the full details on that through here.

It’s a new month which means a new slate of titles for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Microsoft already confirmed that Dragon Quest Builders 2 is out tomorrow for Xbox consoles and PC subscribers with content like the Aquarium Pack, Historic Headwear, Dragonlord’s Throne and more included. FIFA 21 also releases on May 6th via EA Play for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC subscribers.

However, on the same day, Red Barrels’ Outlast 2 will also be available for consoles, cloud and PC. Cloud and console subscribers will also have access to Ubisoft’s Steep, an open world winter sports title. May 13th is when Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster becomes available for consoles and PC alongside Just Cause 4: Reloaded.

The original Psychonauts is also making its way to the service on the same day for cloud, console and PC subscribers. If that weren’t enough, Red Dead Online is out on the same day for consoles and the cloud along with Remnant: From the Ashes for PC subscribers. From May 15th onwards, numerous titles will be leaving Xbox Game Pass. This includes:

• Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 (PC)
• Dungeon of the Endless (Cloud, Console, and PC)
• Final Fantasy 9 (Console and PC)
• Hotline Miami (PC)
• Plebby Quest: The Crusades (PC)

Keeping abreast of what’s coming to and leaving Xbox Game Pass can be a bit difficult, but luckily Pure Xbox is here to do it. In addition to Second Extinction and Destroy All Humans!, which are coming to Game Pass later this week, we’re also starting to get an idea of what’s coming in May, though this list will undoubtedly see additions in the future, likely during the first week of May.

On May 4th, Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be coming to consoles, PCs, and the cloud. The Wild at Heart comes to consoles on May 20th, with dates for other platforms to be decided. Knockout City comes to the console version of Game Pass at launch on May 21st, and FIFA 21 comes to Game Pass via EA Play sometime during the month.

But games coming also means games leaving. This month, the list of games leaving that we know of are relatively small. So far, it’s just FIFA titles, with FIFA 15, FIFA 16, FIFA 17, and FIFA 18 all leaving EA Play (and Game Pass) on May 6th.

Knockout City is obviously the biggest get here, but the rest are no slouches. We’ll likely get a better of idea of how Game Pass will look in May in the next week or so.

UPDATE: Microsoft have now officially confirmed this. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is launching for Xbox One (and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility) on May 4, and will include the Hotto Stuff Pack, Modernist Pack, Aquarium Pack, Designer’s Sunglasses, Historic Headwear, Dragonlord’s Throne, and more. Square Enix has been supporting Xbox a great deal more than it usually does of late, bringing over several of its titles like Dragon Quest 11 and Octopath Traveler, many of which have also been made available on Xbox Game Pass (including Outriders, which was available via the service right at launch). Reports have suggested that Square Enix is planning on bringing over more of its catalog to the subscription service, and it seems we know what the next game making the jump will be.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 has been available on PS4, Switch, and PC since 2019, and it seems it’s now coming to Xbox as well. Though no announcement regarding the same has been made by Square Enix or Microsoft, a listing for the game has appeared on the Microsoft Store, and apparently, it’s releasing for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on May 4. Additionally, it also seems like the game will be available via Xbox Game Pass right off the bat as well.

Square Enix found more success with the Dragon Quest Builder offshoot subseries than they had probably expected back before the first game came out- and that’s because both games were surprisingly more engaging, fun, and well-designed, enough to drive interest from audiences and critics alike. Following two excellent games then, it goes without saying that we’ll be keeping an eye on whatever it is the development team that worked on them will do next.

Questions about whether they’re immediately going to go straight to Dragon Quest Builders 3 (or if there even will be a Dragon Quest Builders 3) are pertinent- but as it turns out, they might not return to the builder-slash-action RPG anytime soon. Speaking in the latest issue of V-Jump (via Siliconera), Dragon Quest Builders 2 producer Takuma Shiraishi said the team is currently working on something new, and that it’ll be a while before they’re ready to show it or talk about it.

“We’re making preparations for a game different from Dragon Quest Builders,” he said. “Please wait just a little, er, actually a while longer, for an announcement.”

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is currently available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, having launched on the latter just last month.

The Dragon Quest spin-off, Dragon Quest Builders 2, merged the iconic look and many monster designs of the Dragon Quest franchise with the building system gameplay of the likes of Minecraft and other similar builders. The game has been on consoles for a good while now, with a PC version just announced earlier in the year. Now, PC players can get a good taste of the game beforehand with an extended demo.

The Jumbo Demo, which has been available for consoles for a bit, will be coming to PC ahead of the official release. It will allow you to play up until Furrowfield Island, giving you a very good idea of how the game looks and plays.

The excellent Dragon Quest Builders 2, which launched earlier this year for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, will now be coming to PC, Square Enix officially announced today. This is good news because a) the original game was on PC, b) the more people get to play this charming game, the better, and c) a game like this is probably best suited to the PC audience anyway.

The game will be launching on PC via Steam on December 10, and will include all the DLC and additional in-game items the console versions have received since launch. Pre-ordering it now will also net you some nice exclusive in-game recipes.

So yes, if you haven’t had the chance to play this game yet, I do recommend it. It’s extremely good. Hopefully, the Jumbo demo that was launched for this game on the Switch is also brought over to PC, if only so that more people on the fence can be swayed by this game’s incredible charm and sense of quality.

The Dragon Quest series has always been a megafranchise in Japan, but has never managed to get a strong foothold in other regions. There was a period in which spinoff games didn’t even leave Japan. Thankfully, that’s not the case anymore and we got the delightful Dragon Quest Builders worldwide, with the second one seemingly being a success. If you still aren’t sure about the Minecraft inspired game, there’s a new demo for you to try.

Announced via the official Nintendo of America, a new demo called the Jumbo Demo will be available for Nintendo’s new system. It will allow you to play up until Furrowfield Island, letting you get a good idea of how the game plays and performs.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The demo is available now for the Switch version of the game. As of now there’s no announced plans for it to come to the PS4 version.

Square Enix’s Dragon Quest Builders 2 has been a great success since launching in the West with worldwide shipments crossing 1.1 million units. Even with more updates to come, series director Kazuya Niinou has announced his departure from Square Enix. Niinou had been at the company for seven years and previously served as assistant director for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.

In a recent tweet (translated by Gematsu), Niinou said, “With development on Builders 2 completed, I have left Square Enix. To Naoki Yoshida, Noriyoshi Fujimoto, Takuma Shiraishi, all of my colleagues, and everyone who enjoyed the games I made, thank you so much! I truly appreciate your support.”

The reason for his departure was revealed in a follow-up tweet, “I have been at Square Enix for about seven years now (my longest yet!). I felt a little burned out with Builders 2 and wanted to try out a development cycle different from Square Enix, so I set out for a new development environment.”

Niinou’s departure doesn’t mean that Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be directionless – he’ll serve as external staff for Square Enix and monitor its progress. More information on his own future plans will be revealed next week. In the meantime, Dragon Quest Builders 2’s final update will be coming this month that will essentially wrap up the story. It also contains new features like multiplayer save files, new hairstyles and much more.
