Draugen has had quite the journey. The game was originally announced way back in 2014, but due to budget and development issues, it saw delays multiple times. It did finally came to PC last year, but the console versions again were put on the back burner. Well, now we know when console players will get their chance at the unique detective game.

As announced via a new trailer, which you can see below, the game will debut on consoles next month. The story takes you to an isolated village in 1920s Norway, where Edward Charles Harden, an American traveler, is searching for his lost sister. You will have a companion in the form of Lissie, who has dynamic dialogue options as you navigate a story with unexpected darkness at its core.

Draugen is available now on PC, and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will release on February 21st.

A story trailer of Draugen, the newest title from Red Thread Games – developers of Dreamfall Chapters – was released today. The game is slated to come out this May for PC. Draugen is set in 1923, and is a first-person psychological mystery.

The story follows Edward Charles Harden, an American traveler who has come to 1920s Norway to find his missing sister with his ward, Lissie, as he explores an environment shifting to Edward’s mood and perception. You’ll explore the scenic coastal community of rural Norway and interact through dynamic dialogue with your companion, in a story by the creative team behind The Longest Journey and The Secret World. Draugen will be out for PC in May, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions planned for later in 2019. You can see the story trailer below.

A new first person survival horror title called Draugen, currently in development at Red Thread Games, will be out in 2015 for PC, Mac, Linux and next-gen consoles.

Set on the western coast of Norway during the 1920s, Draugen is inspired by the “legends and tales” of Norse and Scandinavian mythology. The game takes place in a mysterious fishing village where, unexplainably, everyone has just up and vanished.

“With more questions than answers, you’ll need to discover all the clues left behind in order to uncover what happened in this secluded fishing village, and survive it,” says the developer while describing the setting of the game.

“Draugen is an undead creature from Norse mythology,” the devs explain. “The original Norse meaning of the word is ghost, but unlike traditional ghosts the Draug has a corporeal body and physical abilities. Draug reside in their watery graves, guarding the treasures and secrets that were buried with them. And they will protect those secrets at any cost.”

As we said above, Draguen will be out on the next gen systems as well, but we’re not sure if this includes the Wii U as well or if this is restricted to just the Xbox One and the PS4.
