Awesomenauts is a pretty good game as you can conclude from our review here, but there was one thing missing in the game – female characters. That has been rectified with the latest patch, where developer Ronimo Games, has detailed the new females you get to play as.

They also indirectly revealed that the game is healthy and has a 1.5 million playerbase. The patch will be available on 23rd July for PSN and Xbox Live.

“So it has been settled that with Coco Nebulon the first female Awesomenaut will be released with the upcoming patch. With her psycho-electric melee abilities she will be a fierce enemy for the boys. Ronimo also decided it would be cool to have another character added – once they were at it,” the developer said

“His name is Zork. Derpl Zork. The nephew of Blabl Zork, president of Zork Industries, Derpl lacks his uncle’s business-smarts. In fact he lacks any kind of smarts: His IQ is even rated under the level of plankton in the official galaxial IQ test. He loves hunting cats, though, utilizing his combat walker to increase effectiveness.”

The game features the most awesome mercenaries in the galaxy in their fight for territorial supremacy. Awesomenauts brings Russian monkeys with jetpacks, giant robots, and lots of other mighty aliens to the two-dimensional console battlefield. Combining classic platforming-action with modern online multiplayer functionality, the action-packed gameplay offers everything the 16-bit generation and modern gamers love.

dtp entertainment and Ronimo Games have announced that Awesomenauts will be released for Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in February 2012.

“Though we understand that fans may initially feel disappointed that the game will not be released before the end of the year, we will make sure to use the extra time available to us to polish Awesomenauts even further,” said Jasper Koning, co-founder and game designer at Ronimo Games.

In the past DTP and Ronimo had revealed two character reveals (check here and here). Today they have released a third one: Leon Chameleon, a French assassin.

According to the press release, Leon will have the following features:

• Reptile jump: Being a reptile has its advantages- strong leg muscles give Leon the ability to leap high into the air. His tail keeps him stable while mid-air, giving him an agile advantage over his enemies.

• Stealth: As a great tactician, Leon knows the element of surprise can be very useful in combat. Using his natural stealth ability in combination with robotic dummies, he can fool anyone on the battlefield.
• Tongue: Leon takes French kissing a bit too serious, slapping his tongue in your face, grabbing you by the throat and pulling you towards him in one flying swing. Chicks go wild for it!

• Slash: Our tailed rogue loves to stab people in the back, and there is one thing you need for that: a razorsharp lasersword. Also a great tool for making ratatouille.

Mastertronic have  released the cinematic prologue for The Cursed Crusade.

The prologue sets the scene for what is set to be an epic adventure, revealing the cleverly intertwining narratives that make up The Cursed Crusade’s central storyline. Beginning with Jean De Bayle, the prologue goes on to introduce central character Denz de Bayle and his companion in arms, Esteban Noviembre.

Crazy Machines Elements is now available as a download via Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation  Network.

In grand Crazy Machines tradition, players must create wacky chain reactions using different parts and accomplish the tasks set out in their mission, from knocking vases over to blowing out candles. Players can also use lots of new parts besides the elements, including cloud machines, pinwheels and flamethrowers.

Crazy Machines Elements is available as a download via Xbox LIVE (800 Microsoft Points) and the PlayStation Network (9,99 €).

A new character for Awesomenauts has been revealed. He goes by the name of Sheriff Lonestar, and “fights as a mercenary in the robot wars, combining his awesome cowboy-powers with high tech weaponry to earn some solar to spend on whisky and cigars.”

His abilities, as specified by the developers, are given below:

Dynamite

Lonestar is a great fan of shooting things, but sometimes bullets just won’t cut it. So to make sure it stays down, Lonestar will chuck cigar-lit sticks of dynamite at his foes!

Bull

To keep himself sharp, Lonestar trains with powerful holo-Bulls that knock anyone away. New fangled portable holo-tech allows him to turn his training program on his enemies!

Shoot

Even though it’s a but modern for his tastes, Lonestar has shot his way out of many a tight situation using his deadly and accurate space blaster!

Double Jump

Using the simple thrusters he integrated into his classic cowboy boots, Lonestar can do an extra jump in mid-air. Handy for traversing mountains of wrangled Bovinions!
