“The release of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered has been postponed from the previously announced 19th March 2026,” wrote the company. “As the first remaster of the Dynasty Warriors series, in order to fully satisfy our fans, we have made the decision to further improve the quality of the game. The new release date will be announced at a later date.”

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered was announced back in September 2025 during one of Sony’s State of Play showcases. The title was unveiled with a trailer which gave us a look at the PS2 original, along with how its visuals will be upgraded to make use of the more powerful hardware in modern consoles and PCs.

As its “Complete Edition” title might imply, Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will feature all of the content from the base version of Dynasty Warriors 3, as well as Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends, which means that there will be a lot more scenarios, officers and weapons for players to choose from. Along with this, Koei Tecmo has also confirmed that improvements aren’t limited to just the visuals; UI and gameplay mechanics will be seeing refinements as well.

Originally released on PS2 and Xbox, Dynasty Warriors 3 and its Xtreme Legends standalone expansion are beloved entries in the series. With many players still making use of their older consoles to experience the hack-and-slash action game, Koei Tecmo working on a remaster to bring it to newer audiences was seen as an eventuality.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered was first hinted at in a video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. The video, the whole franchise was featured, going all the way back to 2000’s Dynasty Warriors 2, which is essentially considered the first game in the franchise since the original Dynasty Warriors was completely different from what the series would eventually become.

The video teased Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered by simply referring to the remaster as “Dynasty Warriors ?“.

The latest entry in the franchise is last year’s Dynasty Warriors: Origin, which served as a soft reboot for the entire series. Among the new gameplay elements it introduced to the franchise includes a new dedicated parry mechanic, as well as the ability to have a bodyguard squad that can offer new tactical options for epic battles.

Koei Tecmo is also working on the Visions of Four Heroes DLC for the game, which will bring in an evolution to its 1 vs. 1000 battles, along with a new scenario that focuses on teaming up with “unsung heroes” like Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and Lu Bu.

The trailer for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered gives us a look at the PS2 original, as well as the new visuals we will get to see in the remastered release. It was developed using Unreal Engine 5, and is slated to include all of the content from the base version of Dynasty Warriors 3 as well as Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends, featuring more scenarios, officers and weapons. The UI and gameplay mechanics have also been refined while still maintaining its roots.

Dynasty Warriors 3 takes place in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story, with players being able to take on the role of one of more than 40 different officers in epic battles that will pit you against thousands of enemies in various battlefields.
