Patrick Söderlund addresses concerns of Titanfall being rushed.

Titanfall will be heading to Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on March 11th 2014 in North America and March 14th in North America. Given how the game only had its reveal at this year’s E3, with information not exactly pouring out of the developer, there has been concerns that its release may be too soon.

However, responding to Credit Suisse’s Stephen Ju during a question and answer session with analysts about whether the game’s development was being rushed and whether EA would ensure its quality by March 2014, EA Games Label boss Patrick Söderlund stated, “So on the quality side, and if we’re rushing a game, I would say no, we’re not doing that at all.

“This is a very experienced, seasoned team, one of the best in the industry. They’ve got a bunch of great games under their belt. We have been monitoring and working with them for a long time. This has been a game that’s been in development for multiple years. And all the data that we have in front of us suggest that this game will not only be highly rated, but very highly rated. So I feel better than I would normally feel at this time, on a game like this.”

In other news, Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Titanfall will be exclusive to the Xbox platforms, but that future games in the series will come to other consoles.

Patrick Soderlund also talks about the importance of competition.

It may not be breaking records for the biggest launch or raking in a billion dollars within its first month of launch like the Call of Duty series, but Battlefield is still extremely popular. Popular enough that it’s viewed as Call of Duty’s closest competitor in the market, despite the lack of yearly sequels. Regardless, executive vice president of EA Games Label Patrick Soderlund stated they won’t stop till Battlefield is number one.

Speaking to MCV, he stated that, “Competition is good. It brings the best out of people. If there was only Battlefield or only Call of Duty, then the development teams might have been a little bit more content. We don’t look at them necessarily and mimic what they do.

“But we think about them. Maybe they weren’t thinking about us much when we made Battlefield 3, but I can tell you, they are thinking about us now. They need too. We made a dent in the FPS market and we took share from them. And I am not going to give up until I’m No.1 and I am going to make sure I’m No.1.

“We are spending a tonne of money on this, our teams are killing themselves every year to make great games. I want to give our consumers the best I can. We will strive to be No.1. If I said: ‘No.5 is probably fine,’ it’s hard for people to rally behind that message. But I wouldn’t say we could be No.1 if I didn’t think we could. I think I have the right team, the right product and the right strategy to get there.”

Battlefield 4 releases on October 29th for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 while the PS4 version launches with the console on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe. An Xbox One version launches worldwide on November 22nd.
