A representative for the company stated that, “We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!”

EA Play Live began in 2016 with the publisher hosting its own event separate from E3 (where it’s traditionally been present through the years). Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been digital or hosted in a studio without a live audience. While E3 2022’s physical event has been cancelled, its digital event is still up in the air despite reports that it may take place.

Nevertheless, there have been rumors of Microsoft hosting an E3-style showcase in June. We’ll likely hear more about other publishers in the coming months but it wouldn’t be strange for Capcom and Nintendo to digital showcases like last year. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Seer is described as spotting opportunities “that other Legends might miss” and seizing them “in the most beautiful way he can.” His kit consists of microdrones and an “artist’s eye” but we’ll see more of it in action later this week. Along with a new Legend, Season 10 will update the World’s Edge map with some “major changes.” A new LMG, the Rampage designed by Rampart, is also being introduced.

Ranked Arenas are also inbound, allowing players to climb up the ranks to Apex Predator in the recently added 3v3 mode. A new battle pass and the Emergence Pack with an exclusive skin for Seer will also be added with the season’s launch. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

EA Play Live takes place on July 22nd at 10 AM PT and features titles like Lost in Random and Battlefield 2042. The rumored Dead Space remake by Motive Studios is also reportedly being revealed.

However, the company is looking forward to “celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!” If nothing else, this could mean an announcement or two next year. Perhaps news on the next big Star Wars Battlefront as well? It wouldn’t be too strange, though given DICE’s focus on Battlefield 2042 for the foreseeable future, it remains to be seen.

Along with Star Wars, BioWare’s next Dragon Age and Mass Effect titles will be skipping the show. EA Play Live will be broadcast on July 22nd and is confirmed to feature titles like Lost in Random, Battlefield 2042 and Apex Legends. Rumors also cite that a reboot of Dead Space by Motive Studios will be revealed. Stay tuned for more details in the coming week.

And what about the main show itself? EA confirms that Battlefield 2042, Lost in Random, and Apex Legends are going to be featured, as well as “a couple other games to highlight.” It’s been previously confirmed that Battlefield 2042’s DICE LA-developed multiplayer experience is going to be unveiled at EA Play Live, with reports suggesting that the mode, allegedly called “Battlefield Hub”, will remake and bring back classic series maps and weapons.

Rumours of late have also been strongly suggesting that a Dead Space remake developed by EA Motive is going to be unveiled at the show. As for games that won’t be there, BioWare has confirmed that it’ll have nothing to show for the next Dragon Age or Mass Effect games.

Over on Twitter, they’ve confirmed that EA Play Live’s pre-show will kick off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on July 22, and will be “followed by the main show.” There are still details that haven’t been revealed, such as how long the pre-show will be, or what we can expect from it, but at least we have more details now. Meanwhile, in a follow-up tweet, EA confirmed that this year’s show will be hosted by wrestler Xavier Woods (aka Austin Creed).

Recent reports have suggested that EA is going to announce the revival of an established IP at the event- and apparently, it’s going to be Dead Space. Meanwhile, EA has also confirmed that it’ll be detailing the mysterious new Battlefield 2042 mode being developed by DICE LA at EA Play Live.

This mode is being developed by the Vince Zampella-led DICE LA, who were confirmed to be working on Battlefield earlier this year. In a press release, EA teased this multiplayer experience, described the mode as “another exciting new game-type for the franchise” and “a love letter to Battlefield fans and one that long-time players will feel right at home with.” It will be unveiled at EA Play Live on July 22.

Battlefield 2042 is out for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 22. It’s been confirmed that it will cost $70 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
