As caught by VGC, EA Sports FC 25 now has the Season Seven Premium Pass, priced at 500,000 coins, or 1,000 FC points. This roughly translates to a price of around $10. Through this new season pass, players can play the game and complete objectives to earn a variety of rewards.

The 40 tiers of the season pass include Ultimate Team packs, Evolutions, player items, and even cosmetic items as some of the rewards that players will be able to earn. Among the individual players that can be earned through the season pass are TOTS Flashback Lisandro Martinez, TOTS Flashback Federico Chiesa, and TOTS Honorable Mention Dries Mertens, among many others.

As is usually the case with season passes, there is also a free track available for EA Sports FC 25 players that may not want to spend additional money on these rewards. The free season pass will be like any other season pass that has been present in the franchise in the past.

EA Sports FC 25 was released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch back in September 2024. Since then, the game has seen quite a bit of success, even topping sales charts across the UK and the US. However, not all may have been well with sales of the game.

According to a report from back in January, EA Sports FC 25 had seemingly missed internal revenue expectations. The football game, along with other EA titles like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, have ultimately contributed around $6 billion in EA’s market value loss.

Speaking about how important the Ultimate Team game mode tends to be for EA’s revenue projections, MoffetNathanson analysts said, “Ultimate Team has come to be viewed as a near Swiss clock of interactive media bookings growth. If it is stagnant, it puts enormous pressure on EA to fill the void.”

In light of the title’s missing of projected revenue, EA has revised its 2025 projects down from $7.5-$7.8 billion to $7-$7.15 billion.

We praised improvements to the youth development mechanics in the game’s career mode, as well as the introduction of player roles. However, we also criticised the half-baked nature of features like transfers, player morale, and press interactions.

Moving forward, EA also seems keen on bringing its sports titles, including EA Sports FC, to the Nintendo Switch 2. While the company hasn’t revealed too many details of what kind of features we can expect from a Switch 2 release of EA Sports FC, it has said that it will include as many features “as the hardware allows.”

“We’re excited to bring two of our most beloved franchises – EA Sports FC and Madden NFL – to Nintendo’s Switch 2, giving fans even more ways to play the sports they love, anytime and anywhere,” said EA in a statement. “Both experiences are being built specifically for the new handheld platform, grounded in what fans enjoy from our franchises across platforms. We look forward to sharing more soon.”

It is worth noting that EA has been careful with its statement so as to not outright promise feature parity for the Switch 2 versions of EA Sports FC and Madden NFL when compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Rather, the company has said that it will try to make the Switch 2 versions of the games with as many features “as the hardware allows.”

“We’ll share more details on the Madden NFL and FC experiences for Switch 2 at a later date, but our goal is always to deliver a consistent player experience across platforms as much as the hardware allows,” said the company in its statement.

When asked about whether the Switch 2 versions of the titles will also feature cross-platform multiplayer across the other consoles, EA didn’t confirm things one way or another. It did mention that its sports games on the Switch 2 will be specially “designed for the Switch 2.”

“We’re excited to bring two of our most beloved franchises, EA SPORTS FC and Madden NFL, to Nintendo’s new handheld platform, Switch 2. It’s a great opportunity to reach even more fans – especially younger players – with the sports they love,” said the company.

Traditionally, titles like EA Sports FC have been quite anemic when it came to features on the Nintendo Switch. The company made a big deal of announcing that EA Sports FC 24 would include the Ultimate Team mode, for instance. The company has referred to the Switch releases of its sports games as “Legacy” versions. Older games that went under the FIFA moniker also lacked quite a few features when compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

EA is likely looking to increase the player base for its sports games, especially since a report from back in January indicated that EA Sports FC 25‘s underperformance might have contributed to a massive market value loss for the company.

For instance, FIFA 23 was missing out on upgrades over the previous title, with features like improved animations systems and things like FUT Moments and revamped chemistry systems not being available.

Jefferies analysts also noted the mixed player reactions at EA Sports FC 25’s launch, though a recent update brought sweeping changes. Of course, Dragon Age: The Veilguard still suffered from weak spending and couldn’t make up for the football title’s underperformance.

EA has since revised its fiscal year 2025 bookings to $7-$7.15 from $7.5-$7.8 billion. Alongside the mixed reception to EA Sports FC 25, the publisher missed previous bookings forecasts of $2.4-2.55 billion, coming in around $2.22 billion instead. As a result, it’s reducing projected bookings for the fiscal year from $7.5-$7.8 billion to $7-$7.15 billion. Live service bookings are also taking a hit, declining by a mid-single-digit percentage compared to the previously expected mid-single-digit increase.

Though it will reveal comprehensive results on February 4th, CEO Andrew Wilson said the company remains “confident in our long-term strategy and expect a return to growth in FY26, as we execute against our pipeline.”

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched on October 31st for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It crossed 89,000 concurrent players on Steam, though EA never revealed sales figures. First-week sales in Europe were reported to be lower than Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, though UK sales were similar to the two. Director Corinne Busche also recently left the studio for a new offer described as a “can’t turn down” opportunity.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown

Developer KT Racing’s most ambitious title to date has landed Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown a place on this rundown despite an onslaught of issues resulting predominantly from it’s always-online requirement. First, the good: Solar Crown’s Hong Kong open world is consistently complex and interesting, and the car feel – whilst not perfect – is a step up from Test Drive Unlimited 2. The bad however outweighs the good: time wasting bugs, server issues even when racing solely against AI, and inconsistent, non-adjustable difficulty settings makes Solar Crown a racer steeped in promise but with much to fix.

Nevertheless, it evens out, considering sales were up 24 percent on PS4 and PS5. PlayStation accounted for nearly 75 percent of total sales, followed by PC with 15 percent and Xbox at 11 percent. The second best-selling title of the month was EA Sports FC 25, though sales were 14 percent lower than its predecessor.

Other noteworthy new releases include Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. Its sales were 80 percent higher in its debut month than Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Undisputed is currently the second biggest sports title of the year in the UK, just behind EA Sports FC 25. Silent Hill 2 remake also debuted strong, though its launch sales were lower than that of Dead Space remake and Resident Evil 4 remake.

“It’s hard to know what EA’s expectations were, but it seems fine. It’s not earth-shattering, but it isn’t terrible.” On the GIBiz Microcast with editor-in-chief James Batchelor, Dring said he didn’t see a “huge amount” of marketing from Electronic Arts leading up to release. He also revealed that The Veilguard did “a little less” than Star Wars Outlaws, though it’s not far off.

The other major release of last month, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, is still performing well. It’s behind Helldivers 2 in sales across Europe and trailing EA Sports FC 25 and EA Sports FC 24, the current top two-selling games in the UK.

EA Sports FC 25 was the bestselling game in the US for the month of September, enjoying a record-breaking a launch with the highest ever launch month dollar sales for a football sim in the US to date. Compared to last year’s EA Sports FC 24, FC 25 saw double digit percent growth in its launch month sales in the US. 

Trailing behind it is Astro Bot, with Sony’s acclaimed new platformer taking the No. 2 spot. Several other new titles occupy places in the charts as well, including The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom at No. 4, NBA 2K25 at No. 7, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 at No. 18, though digital sales aren’t included for any of those three.

Other new releases in the charts are NHL 25 and Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, while Dead Rising has also jumped up in the charts from rank 502 last month to No. 11 in September, thanks to the release of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. 

On the hardware side of things, however, things less positive, with all consoles having seen sharp declines in sales. Read more on that through here.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 ranked second, becoming the third best-selling new title of the year for the UK behind EA Sports FC 25 and Helldivers 2. Interestingly, The Crew 2 shot up to third place following its recent discount of less than £1.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws hasn’t done all that well. After launching on August 30th for all players and recording disappointing sales, sales are slightly lower than Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Time will tell if sales pick up in the coming Holiday window, especially after new patches and content become available.

Do not ignore the Activities section. The personal improvements afforded from items and actions here will add up towards player development in the long run, whether it is social posting, buying a mattress, or starting an eSports team.

Juggling Skills

Often misjudged for only being of cosmetic and comedic value, Juggling Skills are actually useful especially in competition with other players, making it difficult for them to predict your next maneuver. There are 8 moves to perfect, however all are exclusively available to players with a 5 star skill rating.

PvP Best Time Slots

If competitive matches against other players is your thing, be advised that the weekends are your best bet for enjoyable games. This is because the largest pool of available players will be active online starting Friday night through Sunday. Even on those days, you should only begin playing by late Saturday evening, to avoid the most eager of hardcore players who will successfully rush through their grind earlier in the weekend.

Weekend League Times

The FC 24 Weekend League begins at 7 AM UTC on Friday, and ends at 7 AM UTC on Monday. These 72 hours are the only window of opportunity for players to participate in this limited event each week. Here too, timing matters, with the hardest opponents being online early in the weekend, and the weaker players still grinding away on Sunday night and Monday morning, in the hope of completing the required quota of matches played. This time slot is the most likely to have opposing players that throw games by quitting early.
