A beautiful and smooth return to golf for EA.

Like the professional golf landscape before it, PGA Tour games are seeing a second option for the game’s top players. After 2K entered the officially licensed PGA Tour game market in 2019, EA Sports has finally returned from its prolonged golf hiatus to go toe to toe with the 2K series and return to the glory days of the Tiger Woods games that ended nearly a decade ago. And just as the professional golf players have diverged to the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour, the two major golf games on the market have more similarities than they do differences. Aside from a few glaring player and course omissions that are likely attributable to rights issues, EA Sports PGA Tour is everything you would really want in a golf game. It’s polished, smooth, pretty, and probably the only way you’re ever going to play at Augusta National. With that said, it’s also not particularly different from 2K’s PGA Tour franchise, as we seem to have homed in on all that golf games can offer. For all that it does well, EA Sports PGA Tour feels like a slight increase over golf games before it, but those that have played the other games beside it on the market likely won’t see a huge increase in value here.

The basic idea with golf games – and sports games in general – is that they enable you to play the sport we love at the highest level and at the most famous places in the world. EA Sports PGA Tour fulfills that promise about as well as you could hope for in the world of golf. One of its main selling points is that it’s the home for all of golf’s major tournaments, most notably The Masters. And it’s true; the course selection here is great, with the aforementioned major courses like Augusta or St. Andrews, all the way to Whistling Straits or Quail Hollow. Every hole is instantly recognizable in the same way that they would be if you were watching on TV, especially thanks to how pretty the visuals are when you hit the links. For each of the 30-plus courses, lighting is beautiful, and they all bring out the same feeling as you’d get in the real thing. Obviously there are always going to be courses that haven’t made the cut, but in reality the course selection ticks off virtually every major box you’d hope, at least at launch.

The player selection is a little less robust, with only 22 real-life golfers included. Scottie Sheffler is an obvious inclusion as last year’s Masters champion, though it’s a difficult miss to not have Jon Rahm, the newest Masters winner, or past namesakes Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy on the list. Other key players included are those like Jordan Spieth and Tony Finau, and some of the best women’s players like Lexi Thompson. Of course, a PGA Tour branded game is unlikely to have any LIV players, either, so the likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, or Brooks Koepka, among others, are also nowhere to be found.

Of course, the fix to lacking key players is to allow you to make a superstar your own, and EA Sports PGA Tour has a great career mode. By and large it’s a pretty straightforward and familiar setup as career modes go. You can choose to start down at the Amateur level, or you can immediately jump up to the PGA Tour and compete against the best. Regardless, you make your way up the ranks of the Tour and work to qualify for the game’s biggest tournaments. I appreciate the flexibility of the career mode to let you play as much or as little of any tournament as you’d like. While you can play all 18 holes 4 times a tournament if you’d like, you can also play a handful of holes and use your performance as a proxy for simulating the remainder of the round. It means that you can play through an entire season of the Tour in a more manageable timeframe, which is appreciated given how many tournaments there are.

The gameplay of EA Sports PGA Tour has been completely redone, and as expected, you’re not going to be able to hit par on every hole from the start. Depending on where you are on the course, you can choose from a number of varied and nuanced shot types. Driving from the tee is an obvious choice, but on your approach, do you choose to punch a low and fast shot or hit a sky-high flop shot and try to avoid any movement on the green? As you progress and complete more tournaments in the career mode, you gain points and can unlock new shot types that go along with the increased control you have on each shot.

Overall, I really like the gameplay here. The act of swinging is more integrated into the visuals than other golf games have done in the past, as your power meter is aligned with your swing path. The control piece is similar to other games, as you pull down the analog stick to begin your swing and push up at the end of your backswing to determine control, ideally flicking the stick straight from bottom to top. Driving is easily the most satisfying shot on any hole, especially when you pull off the perfect power and control combo for a middle-of-the-fairway shot and the mini-cutscene that comes with it. The short game is somewhat less consistent. I found myself confused once every hole or two as to how a shot ricocheted the way it did or why it didn’t roll the way I expected. If you’re playing with top-level players like Sheffler, they have more control and more of an ability to place a ball exactly where you want, but at the lower levels it can be frustrating to be relatively unsure of what your pre-shot choices will really affect and ultimately play more like I do than a PGA Tour golfer would.

"With the exception of a few important players and courses, this return to golf for EA provides virtually everything you would want in a golf sports game in 2023, including some of the greatest courses and best players in the world, as well as a chance to play alongside them in a career."

The other major unique game mode here is the Challenges mode, which lets you play out a number of famous moments or streaks from included players’ careers or at the included courses’ tournaments. I like these Challenges in theory, and a lot of the ones included are great bite-sized gameplay experiences that give you the chance to play in high-leverage situations. However, there’s also a natural limitation with the players included, as you won’t see some of the most important shots or streaks here, like Tiger Woods’ chip-in at the 2005 Masters. With that said, there’s a huge amount of potential with this mode, and I really like what’s there now.

EA Sports PGA Tour is probably the best golf game on the market right now, though that might not be as bold of a statement as it sounds. With the exception of a few important players and courses, this return to golf for EA provides virtually everything you would want in a golf sports game in 2023, including some of the greatest courses and best players in the world, as well as a chance to play alongside them in a career. The updated gameplay system works great the majority of the time, and it feels like a step forward in golf gameplay, especially compared to EA’s past golf games. Knowing that there are now two PGA Tour licensed games on the market, you’re not going to see enormous differences between the two, but if you’re looking for a golf game to play and haven’t picked one up in a while, EA Sports PGA Tour will do just fine.

April is jam-packed with releases, from exciting indie titles and remasters to big-name sequels. Check out 15 of the biggest.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom finally received some extensive gameplay, and development has wrapped, which means it’s on track to launch in May. That’s roughly six weeks away, but the good news is that plenty of big games are launching in April to help pass the time. These include highly anticipated sequels, with at least one in development for nearly a decade, a new Bithell Games visual novel-style adventure, golf and various shades of cosmic horror. Let’s look at all 15 here.

Everspace 2

In early access since January 2021, Everspace 2 is finally getting its full release for PC. Taking an open-world space combat approach compared to the original, it sees protagonist Adam Roslin returning to explore Cluster 34. It can get pretty chaotic due to rival factions and gangs, and new high-risk, high-reward areas encourage more dangerous tasks for that sweet loot.

Everspace 2 was already pretty big when early access began, but it’s grown significantly with new ships, loot, systems, missions, activities and story missions. More enemies, bosses, equipment, customisation, and the final star system, Khione, are also coming. Story-focused players dabbling in the side quests will take roughly 30 hours, but if you explore everywhere, rack up reputation bonuses and do everything, that’s about 90 hours of gameplay to look forward to. With how well received the early access version has been, we can’t wait to see how the full release performs.

EA Sports PGA Tour

Suffering a slight delay for the sake of polish, EA Sports PGA Tour is out on April 7th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Offering 30 courses and playable golfers like Im Sung-jae, Cameron Champ and Lexi Thompson, there are 20 shot types to master, backed by features like Pure Strike, with golf swings mirroring real life. Course Dynamics ensure various environmental factors influence ball behavior and that no two courses are the same.

This is all in addition to the Career Mode, where you create a character and work up to the pro level. Will it be enough to counter the addition of John Cena to rival PGA Tour 2K23? Time will tell, but as the first PGA Tour game from EA Sports since 2015, it has much to live up to.

Minecraft Legends

What if you took Minecraft’s crafting, world design and memorable mobs, fused them with action strategy gameplay and added a story about world-ending threats? That’s Minecraft Legends, developed by Mojang and Blackbird Interactive of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak fame. As the hero, players explore the Overworld and rally other mobs like zombies, wolves, Creepers and whatnot to fight for them against the Nether’s piglins.

Along with running around and fighting, you can issue commands to your units to attack, build structures and much more. The aesthetic and unique mob designs will appeal to long-time fans, and there looks to be a strong amount of replay value thanks to co-op and competitive multiplayer. Minecraft Legends arrives on April 18th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC, and will also be playable on day one on Game Pass.

Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 releases on April 21st for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC, something we wouldn’t have believed a year ago. Stuck in development hell for the better part of its lifespan, the first-person action RPG focuses on six Slayers struggling to survive and escape from post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. There are famous landmarks to visit and hordes of zombies to fight, but you can craft and modify weapons to gain an edge.

What sets the sequel apart is the lack of an open world, the new Skill Deck for customizing and swapping out different builds on the fly, and the new FLESH System. Now you can slaughter zombies in ways that look and feel natural, whether it’s breaking jaws or melting skin. Even with a 20-hour or so playtime, three-player co-op, collectibles, and side quests provide enough incentive to return.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

A lot has changed in the five years for Cal Kestis. Now a full-fledged Jedi Knight, he’s fighting against the Empire at every turn with little hope of winning. However, things are taking a turn as a mysterious new Jedi emerges, an Imperial Senator seeks a “dangerous deal,” and new allies emerge. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a bigger game than Fallen Order in almost every way.

New enemies are available, from Separatist Droids to massive creatures. Five Lightsaber Stances with new abilities and new Force Powers are also available. If you enjoyed the first game even a bit, then Star Wars Jedi: Survivor should be on your radar when it releases on April 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

Road 96: Mile 0

Some will probably remember Road 96 as a procedurally generated adventure game with alternating routes against the backdrop of unrest in Petria. Road 96: Mile 0 is a prequel that takes a more hand-crafted narrative approach, focusing on the relationship between Zoe and Kaito. Alternating back and forth between the two, players learn how they met, and their vastly different circumstances as Petria’s more harrowing side is revealed.

The biggest new feature is the musical segments, as we explore the inner worlds of both characters, dodging obstacles and traveling down a surreal path while making choices. Road 96: Mile 0 is out on April 4th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened

A remake of Frogwares’ 2007 adventure game, Sherlock Holmes The Awakened sees the famed detective and his cohort John Watson versus the Cthulhu Mythos. While investigating mysterious disappearances, the duo will venture to locations like Switzerland, the wetlands of Louisiana and much more to discover the truth. The visuals and animations are vastly improved thanks to Unreal Engine, and there are new side missions, storyline content and much more to experience.

However, the most intriguing aspect will be how Sherlock’s sanity is affected by the events and the impact on investigations as the storyline proceeds. We’ll find out when Sherlock Holmes The Awakened arrives on April 11th for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores

Like Horizon Zero Dawn and The Frozen Wilds, Forbidden West is getting a paid expansion with Burning Shores. It takes place in an archipelago formed in the ruins of Los Angeles, where volcanic eruptions and tremors are commonplace. Aloy must investigate a new threat, with trailers confirming an encounter with an awakened Metal Devil.

Almost no gameplay has been showcased for the $20 expansion, which is out exclusively for PS5 on April 19th (due to the PS4 being unable to handle it). However, Guerrilla Games has promised new stories, characters and Machines to fight along with “highly detailed” environments. You’ll need to finish the base game’s story first, so get that out of the way before jumping in.

Stray Blade

505 Games’ Stray Blade doesn’t have tons of hype behind it, which is crazy given how smooth the combat and art-style look. The action-adventure game is set in Acrea, the Lost Valley, and how you find it, die and are somehow resurrected. Now trapped, you must explore the region and overcome powerful enemies while learning more about its mysteries.

By honing skills, unlocking new talents and gaining abilities from the entities that ruled Acrea, players can expand their combat options. Of course, you’ll discover new weapons, materials and recipes while exploring, as your choices can affect the world. Stray Blade arrives on April 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

Bramble: The Mountain King

Inspired by Nordic folklore and fables, Bramble: The Mountain King is about Olle, who embarks on a quest to save his sister. The task is easier said than done as various entities roam the land, many hostile and larger than Olle. A special fragment called the Spark of Courage can help even the odds, but “courage without kindness” is implied to lead to a “dark path.” Bramble: The Mountain King is out on April 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection

Fans of the underrated Mega Man Battle Network series – the time has finally come, as it gets the Legacy Collection treatment. Releasing on April 14th for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection consists of two volumes. The first contains Mega Man Battle Network 1, 2 and 3 (with Blue and White being separate versions). The second offers Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun and Blue Moon, Mega Man Battle Network 5 Team Protoman and Team Colonel, and Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar and Cybeast Falzar.

You can pick up both volumes as part of a package deal, but that’s not all. It also includes all 499 patch cards previously exclusive to Japan, 15 chips available from events, an art gallery with over 1000 items to view, 188 songs from the series to listen to in the music player, and even a 3D MegaMan for menu navigation. That’s not including online NetBattles and Trade, a High-Resolution Filter, and Buster Max Mode, which increases the power of Buster Shots.

The Last Case of Benedict Fox

If you’re interested in a different kind of Lovecraftian mystery, The Last Case of Benedict Fox may be worth checking out. The Metroidvania title sees detective Benedict Fox and his demon companion venturing into a mansion to investigate a couple’s murder and the fate of their missing child. Fox can venture into the minds of the deceased, exploring vivid areas formed by memories and emotions, to obtain testimonies.

However, the mansion also has its share of secrets to uncover. As you explore areas, there will be plenty of monsters, human and non-human, to fight with firearms, melee weapons and demonic powers. With a gorgeous art style and accompanying jazz score, The Last Case of Benedict Fox looks to be an intriguingly dark adventure. It’s out on April 27th for PC and Xbox Series X/S, along with Game Pass.

TRON: Identity

Bithell Games’ latest visual novel-style narrative adventure is set in the TRON universe, more specifically in a brand new Grid where a strange crime has occurred. Something has been taken, and as a detective program Query, it’s your job to find out who’s responsible. Speak to different programs to learn more about them, defrag Identity Discs to complete puzzles and learn the truth, and make decisions that could lead to various endings. Who you choose to doubt, trust or derezz is all up to you when TRON: Identity launches on April 11th for PC and Nintendo Switch.

Ghostwire: Tokyo (Xbox Series X/S)

Tango Gameworks has found success with Hi-Fi Rush on Xbox Series X/S, and on April 12th, it brings first-person action-adventure Ghostwire: Tokyo to the platform. Also available for Game Pass at launch, it’s set in Tokyo, which has undergone a supernatural transformation rendering most of its population into Spirits. As Akito, possessed by the spirit K.K., players must take down the hostile Visitors and stop the mysterious Hanya.

A new big update, The Spider’s Thread, is out on the same day for all platforms. It adds a new rogue-lite mode, tasking players with fighting through a 30-stage gauntlet. There are also new areas, quests and story scenes, along with new Visitors to battle and new skills, like dodging and Charged Strike.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

As someone with a love-hate relationship with Monster Hunter, Sunbreak is essential for any fan of Monster Hunter Rise. It’s out on April 28th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5, and features tons of new content, as players venture to a new region and Elgado Outpost to investigate The Three Lords.

The expansion introduces Master Rank Quests, providing even tougher challenges and rewards like higher rarity armor and stronger skills. Along with brand new monsters like Malzeno, an Elder Dragon, there are returning monsters from previous games like Espinas, Seregios, Astalos, Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala. New Follower quests allow solo hunters to battle alongside NPCs and unlock some cool armor and weapons.

More than anything, the end-game is significantly expanded thanks to Anomaly Investigations. Add the extensive post-launch support, including the addition of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s Velkhana, and there’s more than enough to keep Xbox and PlayStation players happy (or raging) until the next Title Update.

The upcoming month offers one massive release after another. Here are some of the biggest games to keep an eye on throughout.

Just when you thought February was packed with releases, March 2023 arrives with a hefty helping of triple-A titles. Action RPGs, remakes, sports sims, horror and co-op shooter heists await, providing something for everyone. Let’s look at ten of the most exciting new games releasing in March.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Koei Tecmo is on a roll with WILD HEARTS receiving critical acclaim (despite its technical issues) and looks to continue that success with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Developed by Team Ninja, with Nioh producer Fumihiko Yasuda and Bloodborne producer Masaaki Yamagiwa at the helm, the action RPG is based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Set during the fall of the Han Dynasty, the player is a nameless soldier who rises to fight the Yellow Turban Rebellion while becoming embroiled in a conspiracy surrounding the mysterious Elixir.

Unlike Nioh, there’s no stamina bar in combat, with players battling to break an enemy’s Spirit and execute powerful critical strikes. Levels are more open and vertically designed, while Morale adds a back-and-forth momentum to fights. Releasing on March 3rd, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC, along with Game Pass.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

After Maiden of Black Water, the Fatal Frame remasters continue, this time with Mask of the Lunar Eclipse in the spotlight. Set a decade after a kidnapping incident in Rougetsu, three girls and a detective return to the island to discover what happened. Of course, evil spirits are involved and fighting them with the Camera Obscura, which damages ghosts through photography, is necessary to survive. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse features new costumes, the new Snap Mode for creating images, and updated visuals and controls.

If you couldn’t get enough of the series’ psychological horror, the remaster may be worth checking out when it releases on March 9th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

WWE 2K23

WWE 2K23 is the latest in the franchise from Visual Concepts and 2K Games, launching on March 17th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. If it looks and feels the same, that’s pretty much intentional. Instead of overhauling systems, the development team has polished them further, with more animations, updated character models and new modes.

The 2K Showcase this year focuses on John Cena and his biggest losses, played from the perspective of his opponents while he provides commentary. WarGames is the newest match type, allowing 3v3 and 4v4 matches in a double ring surrounded by a giant Steel Cage. Other than that, MyRISE returns with new stories, MyGM is getting more options, match types for four players, and much more.

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR

The PlayStation VR2 is officially available worldwide, ushering in a new generation of virtual reality gaming (at least on consoles). If the launch offerings don’t interest you, then The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR may be worth looking into. It’s a rail shooter set on a rollercoaster screaming through various set pieces and locations based on The Dark Pictures Anthology series as you shoot enemies, keep your eyes open to survive teleporting mannequins, and much more. It releases on March 16th, exclusively for Sony’s VR headset.

The Last of Us Part 1 (PC)

With The Last of Us HBO series a massive success, it’s always a good time to revisit the original. For PC fans, The Last of Us Part 1, Naughty Dog’s remake of the first game, will release on March 28th. While its PC-exclusive features have yet to be detailed, one can look forward to 4K and 60 support, along with faster loading times and revamped visuals. In addition to the base game, the remake includes the Left Behind DLC, several improvements to AI, extensive accessibility options and improved crafting interface.

EA Sports PGA Tour

For all the attention its other sports titles usually get, the marketing for EA Sports PGA Tour has been rather low-key. It’s available on March 24th for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 with 30 courses to play on. Career Mode returns, allowing one to create a golfer and work up to the pro level, learning 20 different Shot Types along the way and improving their skills. Pure Strike provides fluid and realistic movement on swings, and revamped Ball Behavior makes for more accurate bounces based on the course’s terrain.

Crime Boss: Rockay City

Ingame Studios’ Crime Boss: Rockay City is a co-op multiplayer shooter, with players pulling off different jobs in the 90s-inspired Rockay City. Battle rival gangs and steal whatever valuables you can with up to four players. Perhaps the coolest part is the star-studded cast from Michael Madsen, Danny Glover, Damion Poitier and Kim Basinger to Danny Trejo and Chuck Norris (who plays Sheriff Norris, because of course he does).

It looks promising, but can it unseat the Payday series, especially with Payday 3 on the way? We’ll find out when Crime Boss: Rockay City launches on March 29th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

MLB The Show 23

The premier baseball blockbuster gets even better with MLB The Show 23. Launching on March 28th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, it features the new Storylines mode, focusing on African American leagues that rose to prominence in the 1920s. Featuring players like Jackie Robinson, Rube Foster, and Satchel Page, it also provides some backstory on their historical significance. Some gameplay changes include High Fielding attributes having a bigger impact, defense and offense getting new quirks, and over 5,000 gameplay animations to enhance the immersion.

System Shock

To say that System Shock, a remake/reboot of the franchise, is a long time coming would be an understatement. It was announced as a remaster in 2015 and has seen numerous delays, changes (including a shift from Unity to Unreal Engine 4) and much more. Nevertheless, a substantial amount of work has been done, with fully revamped HD visuals, a new interface, and brand-new audio effects. Combined with the excellent story-telling, sci-fi horror, and FPS/RPG mechanics of the original, System Shock could end up a dark horse. It’s out next month for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Leon S. Kennedy travels to a village in Spain to rescue the US president’s daughter Ashley Graham while dealing with the brutal cult. Upon entering the village, it becomes clear that things are very wrong with the villagers under the influence of the parasite. The visuals have a dark and bleak atmosphere, and gameplay includes parrying with knives, side quests, and much more. Resident Evil 4 Remake is out on March 24th for Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC, but even more content is coming post-launch, including a free VR mode for PlayStation VR2 and The Mercenaries.

A new gameplay trailer has also been released, revealing new details on EA Sports PGA Tour's central mechanics.

We’ve known for nearly a couple of years that EA Sports is preparing to re-enter the golf sim arena with a new PGA game, while last year, that title got officially announced. Now, the publisher has released a new gameplay trailer for EA Sports PGA Tour, while also confirming when exactly it will be coming out.

The trailer focuses on the game’s central gameplay mechanics, talking first and foremost about what EA has dubbed “Pure Strike”, which will enable “unique golf swings with a fluid feel” and “realistic outcomes on every golf shot”. Each shot will, of course, be determined by a number of different factors, such as the behaviour and movement of the ball, what type of shot you opt for (with the game offering a total of 20), and the unique dynamics of the course you’re playing on. Check out the video below for more details.

EA Sports PGA Tour will be out on March 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

EA's first new golf simulation game in a decade has received its first gameplay trailer, and is due out for PC and consoles in Spring 2023.

In 2021, EA announced a new multi-year licensing deal with PGA and confirmed that it was working on a new “next-gen” golf game, spelling EA Sports’ return to the golf simulation genre for the first time in over a decade. Now, EA Sports PGA Tour has been officially unveiled with a new teaser trailer.

The trailer is a brief one at half a minute in length, but showcases in-engine gameplay footage, showing off the Augusta National Golf Club in all its glory. Visually, and from a presentation perspective, it seems to be shaping up quite well, though of course, concrete details on gameplay mechanics and how content-rich the game will be at launch haven’t yet been revealed.

When those details will be revealed remains to be seen, but with the game set to launch in Spring 2023, it might be a few more months. In the meantime, check out its debut teaser trailer below.

EA Sports PGA Tour is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

2K Sports announced less than two weeks ago that it had partnered with Tiger Woods for a multi-year deal of golf video games, but it seems EA Sports isn’t ready to quit the race just yet. It’s been a while since we saw a golf game made by EA, but they look ready to retake the stage, having announced a new multi-year licensing deal with PGA. To go along with that, they’ve also announced EA Sports PGA Tour, which they’re describing as a “next-gen” golf game.

Details on the game are currently scant, but EA is promising “approachable, dynamic gameplay”, “breathtaking immersive environments”, and “stunning fidelity” that will fully leverage the more powerful hardware of the new consoles. The game will also feature ” many of the world’s most famous courses where fans will have the option to play against and as some of the biggest names in professional golf.” All the PGA Tour licenses such as THE PLAYERS Championship, FedExCup Playoffs, and more are also going to be part of the package.

“Our team of passionate golf fans is meticulously recreating the world’s top courses such as Pebble Beach, and we can’t wait to give fans the opportunity to compete on some of the most iconic PGA TOUR courses and win the FedExCup,” says Cam Weber, EA Sports EVP and GM.

More details on the game, exact details regarding which platforms it’s going to release on, and a launch date will be shared later.

Hitting golf balls over battleships? Really?

EA has revealed a new PGA game, dubbed EA Sports PGA Tour at its media briefing. It has revealed that this is the first title to use Frostbite 3 and somehow manages to throw in a fantasy course wherein you can golf balls over battleships set to careen into the shore.

Wait, what?

Yes, that’s right. You will play in courses where you’ll able to hit golf balls during a live battle, taking place as battleships explode. Meanwhile, you’re on the green, hitting golf balls like a rube. Yes, we’re serious and we still can’t believe it.

EA Sports PGA Tour’s platforms are yet to be revealed but it will be heading to the Xbox One and PS4. What are your thoughts on the trailer along with our belief that this is easily the dumbest thing ever seen? Let us know in the comments below, along with any positive notes gleaned from EA’s conference.
