Get used merchandize, officially.

If you want Nintendo’s games or consoles for cheap, Nintendo is now offering you a new way to get them- buy used (refurbished) systems or games directly from them. Of course, this is something they have offered for a while via the webstore they have on their official website, but this is different- Nintendo are now selling their used wares directly via an official eBay store.

It makes sense too- the average user is far more likely to search for used systems and games on eBay than on Nintendo’s website, which they are probably not even aware sells used games. This way, they get all the benefits of buying refurbished products from Nintendo, including a warranty and extended coverage, while Nintendo actually sees some revenue from sale of used products. Win win all around, for everyone.

Check out the deals and offers for yourself by visiting Nintendo’s official eBay frontage.

Scammers and scalpers are taking advantage of gamers again.

An unfortunate truth of the modern gaming community is that it’s not a very nice one. While there are indeed many gamers that are likely to lend you a hand finishing a tough stage or have an amiable conversation with you, there are still those that will, and do, take advantage of the less informed.

This is relevant because a number of people have been selling Destiny codes that were distributed for free last year before the game launched. While some prices start as love as $0.50, they can increase up to $5. Scams like this, and scalpers that have been buying up all the amiibo and limited edition New 3DS is becoming more and more coming, but sadly there’s little than be done about the scams.

The codes that are being sold, which include Grimoire Cards, Shaders and Emblems, are listed beneath, and you can redeem them yourself if you originally missed out.

Grimoire Cards:

Crazy deals and Black Friday go together like peanut butter and jelly; we’ve already covered some of these, on both hardware and software, over the last one week. But most of the hardware has been the Xbox One or maybe the 3DS line of handhelds. What if you wanted a PS4 on the cheap?

What indeed. NewEgg has come to the rescue, as it will be selling you a brand spanking new PlayStation 4 console for just $330 via its eBay page. It’s not as crazily a good deal as we have seen for the Xbox One recently, but it is pretty good, and with $70 in savings, you can now get a PS4 and a game for as much as the console generally costs by itself.

It’s supposed to be pretty limited in quantities, so you probably want to go ahead and grab one now if you can. If you miss it, well, we’ll keep you posted on all the latest and greatest deals on GamingBolt anyway, so stay tuned.

Electronic Arts finally has a new Chief Technology Officer. The publisher confirmed on its website that Ken Moss has joined the company as its new CTO and will be working on leading the company’s strategy for digital platforms and IT.

Moss formerly worked at eBay as its Vice President for Marketplaces Technology, Science and Data. He also spent a good two decades over at Microsoft helping to shape what would eventually become Bing. As can be seen, Moss has a good amount of experience in implementing solid strategies for technology.

CEO Andrew Wilson added that, “Of course, it helps that Ken is a lifelong gamer with a true passion and excitement for the opportunity in front of us. We couldn’t be more pleased to have him join us in building the future of gaming and entertainment.”

What are your thoughts Moss joining EA? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The man known as SuperDAE finally got on The Man's bad side.

The source known only as SuperDaE has recently been raided by the police, and had, well, pretty much everything confiscated by the sounds of it.

We’ll let his tweets tell the whole story.

Police raided me.

I find it hilarious how the warrant only really mentions “Microsoft”, “eBay”, “Paypal”.

— Dan (@superDaE) February 19, 2013

SuperDAE, for those who remember, leaked more than 100 pages of information to Kotaku concerning the next Xbox, codenamed Durango. He was also quite aware of having violated an NDA, which is a pretty big boo-boo in today’s corporate world.

As of now, there aren’t enough details to go by – not even any pictures of warrants or anything due to the guy not even having his phone – but the major charge could be for trying to sell the developer kit for Durango on eBay.

Even though it was “mostly for publicity” and “no one thought the eBay auctions would ever sell, and they never did”, it’s still pretty much a crime when you open up an auction. Let’s see how this plays out in the days to come.

Yesterday an auction went up on eBay for the Xbox 720 Durango development kit, with bids starting from $1. So now the listing has reached its conclusion and the dev kit has sold for a whopping $20,000.

This is in violation of Microsoft’s NDA, so if it turns out to be real, expect Microsoft to come down hard on him. I suspect the person who bought it would gain nothing from it considering it’s not a final representative of the design or specifications.

The seller who listed it had also leaked a lot of things regarding this dev kit on Twitter. In case you’re wondering “That’s just a PC”, the early dev kits look exactly like that and the Xbox 360 version one was also shipped on a PC form factor.

You can check out the listing here which doesn’t have any detail except a picture and “XBOX Durango dev kit” as a description.

Now imagine you own every Sega system ever. Now imagine you own every game every released on those consoles. Now imagine you own every Nintendo system up until the GameCube, and every game every released up until that point.

So that’s every game ever made for the Sega Saturn, Megadrive, Mastersystem, Game Gear, Dreamcast, NES, SNES, Virtual Boy, N4, N64DD and Game Boy. Many of these games are in mint-condition, as well as a fair chunk being rare, contest-only titles that were never released for general sale.

Postage alone cost £793.11, that’s 1,000€ or 1229.80 American, so hazard a guess as to how much these all sold for. Go on.

Higher.

No, higher than that.

Nope, you’re still cold.

Okay, I’ll tell you, this 22-system full-set bundle eventually sold for an absolutely staggering £793,331.10. That’s 999,999.99€, or $1,231,945.55.

The auction ended yesterday, the seller’s username quite aptly collectors_king, based in France, and is still visible for the time being.
