A new character, boss, unlocks, items, enemies and trinkets also free for Afterbirth owners.

Edmund McMillen’s The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ has received a new update called The Forgotten Update, which brings new items, trinkets, enemies and unlocks. Furthermore, it brings 800 new rooms to explore, a new boss and a new character to play around with. Check out the trailer for the same below.

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is another DLC pack for the base game and requires ownership of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and Afterbirth. Aside from everything else with The Forgotten Update, Afterbirth+ added over 55 new items, a new character, Greed Hard mode, new challenges and so on. If you’ve been out of the loop with the game for, say, years then it’s a good time to come back.

McMillen is currently working with James Id (who collaborated with Team Meat, creator of Super Meat Boy) on a new game called The Legend of Bum-bo. It’s a dungeon crawler but with a match four twist and stars the blobbish Bum-bo. McMillen also updated fans about Mewgenics in March, which is still in development but releasing a lot later.

The odd cat game is being remade "from the ground up" according to Edmund McMillen.

Edmund McMillen, who brought us The Binding of Isaac and The End is Nigh, had a rather strange project in the works in 2012. As part of Team Meat, McMillen was working on a project called Mewgenics that was delayed and ultimately cancelled in early 2016. That being said, McMillen did claim the project could return and that’s exactly what’s happening.

In a new blog post, McMillen said that Mewgenics is in development and this time he’s working with Tyler Glacial who brought us Closure and The End is Nigh.

“Tyler and I are currently prototyping some stuff for [Mewgenics] and if all goes well I’m 99% sure that little monster will once again become my obsession. Mewgenics was always my oddball dream project and probably the game I’m questioned about the most these days.

“Mewgenics is being remade from the ground up so don’t expect to see much for a year or two. Who am I kidding I’ll probably start teasing the first beta images once things get moving along…”

McMillen is still focused on The Legend of Bum-bo which will be out this year and promises more gameplay footage soon. However, perhaps more interesting is that The Binding of Isaac will see some more content coming soon. This is despite the last DLC which was supposed to be the final DLC.

“I did say many times this was going to be the last Isaac DLC…and at the time i strongly believed it. but there seems to be something pretty cool on the horizon, its creeping up slowly…it’s familiar but a bit different and its being held up by a group of people… when i squint i think i can make out a…oh sorry i gotta go, there is someone watching me in my space ship.”

Thoughts on all this? Let us know in the comments below.

Edmund McMillen has been known for some pretty irreverent games like The Binding of Issac and The End is Nigh, and his next effort, The Legend of Bum-Bo, A puzzle RPG of all things, is now coming sometime within the first half of 2018, with a new trailer to launch in February to make up for it.

Staring Bumbo from his rouge like dungeon crawler, The Binding of Issac, the game is an RPG with turn based battles and puzzle mechanics coming to Steam and iOS. McMillen is working with James Id on the project, and the pair has also worked on Fingered in the past.

If you’ve never tried one of McMillen’s games, they’re usually mechanics driven affairs with some dark humour driving the action. Super Meat Boy is probably one of his most popular titles, and will soon be making its way to Nintendo Switch on January 11th, in addition to already being available on everything else from Xbox 360 to PlayStation Vita.

Prepare for game cartridges, tumours and difficult platforming.

Super Meat Boy creator Edmund McMillen along with Tyler Glaiel has finally released his newest difficult platformer The End is Nigh. You can pick up the 2D title from Steam and look forward to a Nintendo Switch release later.

Taking place in a future, The End is Nigh focuses on Ash, a creature who must battle against other decaying creatures while collecting game cartridges (all fully playable) and tumour pieces. The end goal is “to simply make a friend out of pieces of people [Ash] finds along his journey.” Which sounds pretty darn grim but considering McMillen also created The Binding of Isaac, this seems par for the course.

With over 600 levels between more than 12 chapters, numerous endings and Achievements and other extras, The End is Nigh seems to be doing well with Super Meat Boy fans in terms of challenge. What are your thoughts on the game thus far? Let us know in the comments.

Edmund McMillen unveils his biggest game yet.

Edmund McMillen, best known for his work on difficult platformer Super Meat Boy and Tyler Glaiel of Closure fame, have announced a new platformer. The End is Nigh is yet another tough platformer that will test players’ patience and it arrives on July 12th for Steam. A Nintendo Switch version is confirmed with other consoles possibly getting their own versions.

The End is Nigh reportedly started as a “completely stripped down platformer with an adventure game open feel where the levels were all locked into tidy little boxes but attached in a way where they could be explored”. As per McMillen, this “felt a bit like VVVVVV meets 1001 Spikes with a Spelunky control setup”.

The End is Nigh will tie elements from McMillen’s other games together and has over 600 levels in 12 chapters. Obviously this is his biggest game yet and there will video game cartridges, secrets, hidden endings and collectibles to gather.

As for Ouroboros, the other game that McMillen and Glaiel were working on, it’s currently on hold. What are your thoughts on The End is Nigh though? Let us know below.

Behold... "thingy".

Remember Edmund McMillen, the man behind The Binding of Isaac who also helped create Super Meat Boy? Aside from various updates to the former and a new game called The Legend of Bum-bo, McMillen is working on another platformer with shooting mechanics. And this one is quite odd.

In a new teaser simply titled “more thingy”, McMillen showcases a black and white platformer where the perspective zooms in every time the player jumps. It’s weird and pretty trippy but the soundtrack is admittedly cool. For now, it seems the project is nameless with more information to come.

We can most likely expect it to launch on current and previous gen consoles though so there is that to look forward to. What are your thoughts on the teaser trailer? What more do you expect to see from “thingy”? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.
