The two will work together two hold esports tournaments for eFootball players around the world.

EA and FIFA ended their long-standing partnership a couple of years back, and though the latter has said that it is working on its own game with new partners (2K, according to some past reports), it looks it has partnered with another company for esports-specific purposes- and it’s a company with plenty of experience in the football sim genre.

Konami has announced that it has entered into an agreement with FIFA that will see the two entities collaborating on esports development worldwide. For starters, two FIFA World Cup esports events will be held over the course of this year, including one that has kicked off this year, with players competing against each other through Konami’s free-to-play football sim, eFootball, on PC and consoles.

Whether we can expect Konami and FIFA’s collaboration to extend beyond esports at any time in the future remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks and months.

More playable teams will also be added to the free-to-play title by the end of the year, but they will arrive as paid DLC.

eFootball had a disastrous launch last year, but with some updates since then – including a full 1.0 launch earlier this year – Konami has been attempting to bring the game up to an acceptable level of quality. Currently, one of several issues with the game is a lack of important features and content, and recently. Konami provided an update on when to expect some of that.

The coming months will see eFootball receiving new features and content, both for free and in the form of paid premium DLC. Where free upcoming content is concerned, Konami is looking to add the Lobby Match feature sometime after Summer, while Winter will see the addition of some editing features, as well as full cross-platform play across PC and consoles.

Paid content is also expected to be added to the game in the coming months, such as new playable teams coming by the end of 2022. That said, Master League – a long mainstay of Pro Evolution Soccer that essentially serves as the series’ single player career mode – won’t be arriving until sometime in 2023, so those looking forward to that are going to have to quite some time.

eFootball is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

"Since the release last September, we have prioritised improvements and corrections based on the feedback and opinions we received," the company says.

Konami’s annual football sim series Pro Evolution Soccer took a major step last year when it rebranded itself and launched with the new free-to-play eFootball. Limited though it’s launch was, it was far from successful, and the game received widespread criticism from critics and players alike immediately upon release.

This week, Konami will be releasing eFootball in full with its version 1.0 update, and ahead of its release, the company has provided assurances that it’s been taking players’ feedback and criticism “very seriously” in an effort to bring the game up to an acceptable level of quality, and will continue to make improvements based on the same.

Speaking to VGC, a Konami spokesperson said: “We are taking the opinions of our players very seriously. Since the release last September, we have prioritised improvements and corrections based on the feedback and opinions we received. We will continue to work on the game’s improvement and as always, the player’s valued feedback is much appreciated.”

eFootball is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Its version 1.0 update is coming on April 14.

The massive update introduces new commands for defending, improves passing and pass speed, adds more shot variations, and much more.

Following its disastrous release last year, Konami’s eFootball 2022 will finally see the release of v1.0.0 on April 14th. The update was slated for November 11th but faced a delay to Spring 2022. The development team noted that it was “too focused on getting the game out on time” that it lost sight of quality. “Naturally, we were met with critical reviews from rightfully disappointed fans.”

Since then, it’s been working to implement tons of different features while fixing bugs and readjusting game balance. This includes changes to the default button for defending and a new command “Shoulder Charge” for repossessing the ball. One can also apply Pressure which, as the name indicates, applies pressure to an opponent holding the ball. You can also “Call of Pressure” to have multiple team members get to the ball.

Pass speed is also being increased while targeting decisions for passes, the AI’s decision-making when receiving passes and so on are being improved. This should help reduce the number of unnatural passes that would occur previously. Shooting speed has also been improved, focusing more on “realism and satisfaction” while the rate of on-target shots has been adjusted. A “wide range” of variations and trajectories for shots is also being added including the “Stunning Shots.”

There are many gameplay changes and improvements to go over so it’s worth reading the whole post. eFootball 2022 is currently available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Konami's disastrous eFootball has emerged as the worst-rated game of 2021, according to review aggregator website Metacritic.

With the year 2021 coming to a wrap, everyone has been celebrating all that the medium of video games has had to offer during this time period. Naturally, there have been a ton of great games– but at the same time, there have been those that have underwhelmed, to say the least. To that end, review aggregator website Metacritic recently revealed the worst games of 2021.

Konami’s eFootball tops the list with a Metacritic score of 25 for the PC platform. Other dishonorable games of the year include Balan Wonderworld for Nintendo Switch (with a Metacritic score of 36) and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which has a score of 47 for the Nintendo Switch. Other notable releases such as the likes of Necromunda: Hired Gun and Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood also make the cut. The full list is as follows:

10. Necromunda: Hired Gun – 49 (PS4)
9. Demon Skin – 48 (PC)
8. Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace – 48 (PC)
7. I Saw Black Clouds – 48 (PS4)
6. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition – 47 (Nintendo Switch)
5. Of Bird and Cage (PC)
4. Taxi Chaos – 42 (PS4)
3. Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood – 42 (PS4)
2. Balan Wonderworld – 36 (Nintendo Switch)
1. eFootball 2022 – 25 (PC)

Recently, as part of our own 2021 wrap-up, we also compiled a list of what we felt were the worst games of 2021, decided by an internal voting process. Check that out through here.

Konami also announces the cancellation of Premium Player Packs for the game. Those who purchased it will be automatically refunded.

eFootball’s attempts at successfully transitioning Konami’s yearly football sim series into a free-to-play live service model haven’t gone as well as the Japanese publisher would have hoped. The game’s disastrous launch was followed by promises of upcoming fixes, and though the first of those was delayed, it is launching later today. That said, it looks like the road ahead is still going to be a bumpy one.

eFootball’s version 1.0.0 update was supposed to launch for all systems on November 11, but Konami has now announced quite a significant delay for it. It has now been pushed back to Spring 2022, with no firm release date announced yet. Konami says that the update – which will add new content to the game as well as support for mobile devices – requires more time in the over “to deliver the product in the quality that will meet the expectations” of players. One would imagine that the immediate need for critical fixes to the game as it exists right now will also have caused complications for future plans.

Meanwhile, eFootball’s Premium Player Pack, which was supposed to include items that would only have been usable once update 1.0.0 was live, has been cancelled as well. Anyone who pre-ordered it will automatically be refunded.

Konami concludes: “We will continue to improve and update our game. We will announce details of further updates and schedule for the mobile version later.”

eFootball is available, such as it is, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The patch, which was previously delayed, will be going live in a couple of days in an attempt to begin quashing the troubled game's many bugs.

After taking a year off in 2020 and promising a radical reinvention of the series with its next entry, Konami had set expectations for the free-to-play comeback of the franchise in the form of eFootball. It’s fair to say that things didn’t go to plan, and the terrible state the game launch in – technically and in terms of lack of content – was met with widespread and overwhelming criticism from nearly all corners.

Konami ended up having to apologize for the game’s state, promising several fixes and improvements down the road. The first of these was supposed to launch in late October before its delay into early November, and now we know exactly when that’ll be arriving. Konami confirmed recently in a post on Twitter that version 0.9.1 for eFootball will go live on November 5, a couple of days from now. For now, Konami has only said that the update will be focused on fixing bugs exclusively, while detailed patch notes are going to be released on the day the patch goes live.

eFootball is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is also in the works for iOS and Android.

Konami's football game launched in rough shape, but the patch that was supposed to begin its recover has now been pushed back.

Konami’s attempt to transition the yearly Pro Evolution Soccer franchise into the persistent free-to-play live service that is eFootball hasn’t got off to the best start. A distinct lack of content and a barrage of technical issues have been chief among the many issues plaguing the game, and Konami was supposed to begin the road to recovery with a new patch that was due out on October 28.

Taking recently to Twitter, Konami announced that that patch has now been delayed to early November. The company says the additional time will allow it to “ensure the experience is improved for all” players. Details of what this patch will include in terms of fixes and when exactly it’ll be coming in November will be shared later.

Before eFootball’s launch, Konami said it had plans for releasing several updates with additional content and features in the coming months. Whether or not those plans have shifted in light of the game’s troubled launch remains to be seen.

eFootball is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The developer has now taken to Twitter to announce to fans that a new update to the game will be making significant improvements to the experience.

Update v 0.9.1. will be releasing on 28th October across all platforms, and will be focusing on fixing issues that users have reported since launch. Konami also promises to keep updating the game according to user feedback in the future as well, although it seems that fans aren’t genuinely interested in giving the game a second chance.

While Konami’s latest attempt at re-inventing one of its premier franchises, PES, has been largely unsuccessful, reports of a revival of franchises such as Metal Gear and Castlevania have recently been brought to light.
The football sim is currently the lowest rated game on Steam, with everything from its bevy of bugs to gameplay issues drawing heavy criticism.

Konami did say in the lead-up to eFootball’s launch that upon release, the free-to-play football sim would essentially be just a demo, but no one could have anticipated that things would turn out this bad. From broken gameplay to hilariously bad animations and facial models to a bevy of glitches, the game’s in a sorry state right now (to say the least), and players have made themselves heard, with the game drawing heavy criticism from all corners (it is currently the lowest rated game on Steam, which is a shocking dubious achievement).

Konami has acknowledged that backlash and apologized for the game’s disastrous release. In a statement published via the game’s official Twitter page, the company acknowledged issues with the game’s balance, its cutscenes, movement of players, facial expressions, and more, and after apologizing for the same, gave assurances that fixes are in the works, with continuous updates planned starting next week.

“We are very sorry for the problems, and want to assure everyone we will take all concerns seriously and strive to improve the current situation,” Konami writes. “This work will be continuously updated, quality will be improved and content will be added consistently. From next week onward, we will prepare an update in October, while receiving further opinions through questionnaires to our users.”

eFootball is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and iOS and Android versions currently in the pipeline as well. Here’s hoping Konami can bring the game up to an acceptable level of quality before long.
