Rockfish Games’ brilliant rogue-lite space shooter Everspace has received an official release date for the Nintendo Switch. It will be out on December 11th as Everspace: Stellar Edition and will include the base title and the Encounters expansion. In addition to this, consumers will also receive an Everspace art book and the original soundtrack (which has +60 tracks).

The game and its expansion are also available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. If you haven’t played it, the focus is on exploring the universe and upgrading your ship along the way. Random encounters, unique quests, different factions, and more will be available to experience.

Though you start from the beginning upon death, there is still long-term progression, with upgrades to go along with it. Players will have several ships to choose from, and can even decide what weapons and gear to start with. The Encounters expansion offers even more with the Okkar homeworld, new weapons like the flamethrower, and new quests to undertake.

Earlier this morning, Nintendo kicked off Gamescom for the Switch in style with a new, surprise unannounced Indies Highlight video presentation, which included new details about indie games coming to Nintendo’s platform, while also sharing more footage and information about games that had already been previously announced.

The key announcement from the video was, of course, that Windjammers 2 would be coming to the Switch (seriously, a Windjammers 2 exists), but that apart, the video showed off multiple great looking games, including Streets of Rogue, Moonlighter, This War of Mine, Slay the Spire, Everspace: Stellar Edition, Morphies Law, Prison Architect, and Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, among many others. You can catch the full presentation below for yourself to see the whole thing. Interestingly enough, Nintendo also added a little tease for “more” at the end- is a Nintendo Direct inbound? It seems like it’s about time for one, doesn’t it?

Regardless, as far as indie support on Switch goes, the little thing is on fire. The likes of Little Nightmares, Night in the Woods, Owlboy and many more have done very well on the Switch, while the excellent Hollow Knight managed to do even better. Hopefully these new games find an audience on the Switch too, just like so many other indie games have on Nintendo’s hybrid.

Rogue-lite arcade space sim Everspace has been making the rounds for a while on Xbox One and PC. It’s now available for PlayStation 4 though as Everspace Stellar Edition and costs $39.99. Along with the base game and Encounters DLC, it brings the soundtrack and a dynamic PS4 menu theme. Check out the launch trailer below.

It’s also possible to pick up the base game for $29.99 and the Encounters DLC for $9.99 separately. Furthermore, Rockfish will be working with Limited Run Games to release Everspace Galactic Edition this Summer. Retailing for $39.99, it will include the Stellar Edition along with The Making of Everspace, a 28 page booklet.

Everspace isn’t your typically space sim title. Exploring space and various sectors, finding different factions to align with and new weapons to equip, the game will return to the beginning if you die. However, you can embark on a new “run” with some long-term upgrades that can be made. Encounters adds new questlines, factory space stations for upgrading mid-run and a new ship along with new devices and consumables.
