First released in 1999 for arcades, Garou: Mark of the Wolves would eventually arrive on Neo Geo, Sega Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox 360, PS4, PlayStation Vita, PC and mobiles. It introduced new mechanics like the Tactical Offense Position (T.O.P.) gauge for increased attack, life recovery and T.O.P. attacks when one’s health entered this portion. There was also the Just Defense system, which provided health recovery and quick counterattacks when blocking at the right moment.

Interestingly, the sequel was first mentioned back in 2005 and was said to be around 70 percent finished. SNK provided updates throughout the years but nothing definite has been confirmed until now. Could it have been the developer’s unnamed title on Unreal Engine mentioned back in February? Stay tuned for more details in the coming years.

Released last year in June, Guilty Gear Strive passed 300,000 in digital sales and worldwide shipments in less than a week. It’s since received several updates, from new DLC characters and story DLC in Season Pass 1 to a free Combo Maker Mode for experimenting with one’s combos.

Season Pass 2 offers three more characters in addition to Bridget. The next is slated to arrive in Fall along with the crossplay update while two more are out in 2023 (along with two additional stages). Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

More importantly, the publisher also featured a short tease at the end of its update trailer. It sees Kazuya Mishima dropping his father, Heihachi, off a cliff after defeating him. The scene then shifts to a new render of Kazuya with the words “Get ready.” This may be the first of many teases for the next Tekken game, though whether it will be Tekken 8 or even Tekken Tag Tournament 3 remains to be seen.

Tekken 7 was first released in 2015 for arcades before coming to PS4, PC, and Xbox One on June 2nd 2017. It’s received four Season Passes till now with 15 DLC characters and six stages. Stay tuned for further updates in the meantime.

PC players are expected to have options between delay-based or rollback netcode, though the recommended specs for the latter may be higher. Xbox One owners can use Smart Delivery to enjoy the game on Xbox Series X/S while the PS4 version is “compatible with the upgrade program.” Whether this means a free upgrade to PS5 version remains to be seen.

No release date for the current-gen versions or rollback netcode implementation was announced. More details are coming at a later date so stay tuned. Dragon Ball FighterZ is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Google Stadia and Nintendo Switch. Check out our review of the base game here.

Director Tetsuya Fukuhara also appeared and said that the title was at “the peak of development.” It’s still releasing in 2023 for PS4, PS5 and PC with more details coming this December at Granblue Fantasy Fes.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink was first announced in 2016 for PS4 with Bayonetta 3 developer PlatinumGames collaborating with Cygames on development (until its contract ended in 2019). It has faced numerous delays since then. As to the latest delay, producer Yuito Kimura revealed that more polish and optimization were required due to the “large-scale scope” of the game.

The visual fidelity and audio are also being improved, alongside bug fixing and gameplay refinements. Stay tuned for more details this December and hopefully a release date.

First appearing in 2002’s Guilty Gear X2, Bridget was born male but raised as a girl. Becoming a bounty hunter, she fights with a yo-yo which is capable of splitting into smaller parts for combos. Roger, Bridget’s large teddy bear, also makes a return and can be used for throwing opponents. She also serves as a projectile, riding a flaming motorcycle that can destroy other projectiles.

An additional character color accompanies the release of Bridget. The developer is also working to reduce input delay on PS5 and connection time for initial server connections on PC. Cross-play also goes live this Fall (along with another DLC character release), but there will be a beta in mid-September. Two more DLC characters are coming next year as part of Season Pass 2.

This Fall, the cross-platform beta test will become available on all platforms. It’s planned to go live in mid-September with more information on how to join coming soon. The cross-play update should go live in the same period along with another new DLC character.

In Winter 2022, a battle balance patch will go live. Next year’s content includes the final two DLC characters and two additional stages. Stay tuned for exact dates in the coming months.

As for what could potentially be revealed, Arc System Works may provide updates on Guilty Gear Strive’s Season Pass 2 and DNF Duel. Warner Bros. Games could showcase new content for MultiVersus, especially with Season 1 starting on August 9th. Capcom may reveal more gameplay for Street Fighter 6 while SNK will likely reveal the fourth DLC team coming to The King of Fighters 15.

Bandai Namco is a wild-card so we’ll see what it has to offer compared to everyone else. Stay tuned in the meantime.

The lineup features the staples of the tournament for the past couple of years, such as Capcom’s Street Fighter 5, Bandai Namco developed Tekken 7, Arc System Works Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Granblue Fantasy Versus. What is interesting to note is that NetherRealm Studios-developed Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, which was originally removed from the lineup back in 2020, is making its comeback.

Apart from the above, Skullgirls 2nd Encore is making its comeback. SNK’s The King of Fighters 15 and Arc System Works Guilty Gear Strive are making their EVO debut as well.

Unfortunately, Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late [cl-r], which was announced to join the ranks back for EVO 2020, is not coming back, nor is the Marvel Vs Capcom 2 invitational tournament. However, the general manager of Evo, Rick Thiher, assures that they have something in the works for it very soon- check out his tweet down below.
