Respawn is adding a ton of improvements and features to Titanfall's next update.

Respawn Entertainment is adding a very significant update to Titanfall in the coming weeks. Not only will it add some new modes like Marked for Death and Wingman Last Titan Standing, but there will also be Titan Burn Cards and new Titan VO packs.

In a new post, the developer detailed the Titan Burn Cards – of which there are 14 – which include Amped Electric Smoke, Amped Vortex Shield and Turbo Engine for increased dashing. You’ll only lose these Burn Cards when dying as a Titan (and not as a Pilot) and the Auto-Titan AI has been significantly improved. It can now deploy secondary abilities like Electric Smoke and Particle Wall in different circumstances.

Other changes include improvements to match-making, a better way to select your Burn Cards, higher Burn Card capacities for Pilots with higher Generation levels, and Achievements for the Xbox One version of the Expedition DLC. What are your thoughts on all the changes? Let us know below.

Take a quick look at the three new maps in the DLC.

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall is still going strong more than two months into its release and recently saw the release of its first map pack DLC Expedition a week ago. A new TV spot for the DLC has been released by EA which showcases short snippets of each map. Check it out above.

Titanfall: Expedition includes three new maps, namely Swampland, Runoff and War Games. Swampland takes place near some alien ruins surrounded by thick forest cover, with tall trees you can wall run on. Runoff offers combat in a waterworks facility with several drainage pipes and elevations to navigate. War Games takes place within the pilot training simulator and essentially combines portions of Angel City, Rise and other maps into one big smorgasbord of violence.

Titanfall: Expedition is already available for PC and Xbox One. It will be out in June for Xbox 360 and retails for $10 on its own ($25 with the Season Pass, which also nets you two more future DLC packs).

GameStop revealed yesterday that Titanfall’s Expedition DLC would be releasing on May 15th for Xbox One and PC, and now Respawn Entertainment has confirmed the same according to GameSpot.
GameStop indicates that the DLC will be out this Thursday.

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall: Expedition, the first DLC for the FPS that adds three new maps to the experience, is apparently releasing on May 15th, 9 AM CST for PC and Xbox according to GameStop. This is far from official confirmation (and not quite unofficial either) but Respawn could very well make an announcement soon.

A new trailer for all three maps has also been released providing a look at some of the new gameplay that can be achieved in the Swampland, Runoff and War Games maps. Each map has its own unique hook to it – Swamplands mixes in parkouring with trees while War Games is a combination of several different maps like Angel City and Rise. Check out how each works in the trailer above.

Titanfall’s Expedition DLC will be hitting Xbox One and PC first and it will be out on Xbox 360 in June. The base game has also received a new update which adds custom private match settings and 144 FPS support for PCs.

The upcoming map pack will arrive for Xbox One and PC this month.

Respawn Entertainment’s first DLC for Titanfall, titled Expedition, will be arriving later in May for the Xbox One and PC, but it is set to release for Xbox 360 as well with Bluepoint Games’ support. It will, however, be out in June.

EA announced that same on the official Titanfall website, stating that, “Just like the Xbox One and PC versions, we are fully committed to supporting the Xbox 360 version and to ensure that regardless of what platform you play Titanfall on, the experience is as good as can be.

“We’re pleased to confirm that Bluepoint continues their partnership with us to support the Xbox 360 version. We have them following Respawn’s lead bringing updates and improvements to the Xbox 360.”

If you’re gaming on the Xbox 360 though, you may need to wait longer before those free updates, Burn Cards and planned multiplayer modes arrive for the platform. “Updates for the Xbox 360 will naturally follow behind similar updates for the PC and Xbox One. This timing difference is due to the same reasons that more time was needed to finish Titanfall for the Xbox 360.

“Respawn must first finish their additions and improvements for the Xbox One and PC, and afterwards Bluepoint can then grab the latest and update the Xbox 360 version. We’re working with Respawn and Bluepoint to streamline the process and close the gap, allowing Xbox 360 updates to be published as closely as possible to Respawn’s updates.”

Titanfall: Expedition will include three new maps – Swampland, Runoff and War Games. It retails for $9.99 but can also be picked up with the Season Pass for $25.

The forest-infested map sees the IMC and Militia battling among old ruins.

Titanfall: Expedition will be out this month and marks the first DLC for Respawn Entertainment’s first person shooter, adding three new maps in the process. The first two maps have already been revealed and now designer Chris Dionne talks about the third map Swampland in a new blog post. There’s also a new video for the same, which details the making of the map.

“Initial layouts of the new Swampland added a bunch of IMC buildings, temples and massive infrastructure. While that structure created clearly defined paths and gave Pilots safe havens and places to wall-run, the level lost its personality.

“I shifted the dense forest section to the center of the map, and kept three main structures as anchor points around the perimeter. This encouraged Pilots and Titans to pass through the woods as they moved from building to building. The final design push then focused on small changes to enhance those interactions – adjusting sight lines, making interiors more interesting to fight over, encouraging flow, and so on.”

Titanfall: Expedition will release on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

Respawn Entertainment will continue to partner with EA for newer Titanfall support.

In a recent EA investor call, it was revealed that Respawn Entertainment will be continuing its current licensing deal with the publisher. EA was responsible for publishing Titanfall for the developer and during the investor call, CEO Andrew Wilson talked about keeping the game fresh with new content and experiences.

“We’re also excited to announce that EA is continuing its partnership with Vince Zampella and the Respawn Entertainment team, building on our success in delivering Titanfall, the biggest interactive entertainment event of the year so far. Through a new publishing agreement, we’ll be working with Respawn to bring new Titanfall experiences to players worldwide.

“We obviously have three [map packs] planned. On top of that, we’re doing the season pass as well, which is keeping the engagement levels there and our goal, quite frankly, is to keep this franchise as fresh as we do with our Ultimate Team and our Sports, as well as we do in Battlefield, obviously, with Premium.”

Titanfall’s first DLC Expedition will be out this map and introduces three new maps. Respawn will also be delivering free updates including new modes and Burn Cards. Stay tuned for more details.

Vince Zampella says "the new maps will hold people off a little bit".

Feeling annoyed that Titanfall’s Expedition DLC isn’t as meaty as you expected? Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella promises more substantial content in the coming months since these three maps are only meant to appeal to current fans who managed to complete the base game so quickly.

Speaking to VentureBeat, Zampella stated that, “There are a couple of new things. You can wall-run on the trees. In particular, you can wall-run around the tree and choose the direction to jump off. You can run around the tree and then jump. It’s one of those things we realized was pretty cool.”

Zamepella has clarified that we won’t see new modes in the initial DLC. “As soon as we can, we will add new modes. It won’t make the initial DLC pack. The new maps will hold people off a little bit. We wanted to strike a balance of having people get through the content easily and also have enough content to play with. People burned through it pretty fast.

“That’s the way game development is. You have 1,000 ideas. You can’t do them all. You pick the ones that have the most impact. Some of it won’t see the light of day or will wind up in a sequel.”

Titanfall’s Expedition DLC will be out in May for Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

Airbase Sierra, Rise and Angel City unite within the pilot simulator.

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall has seen several updates since launching more than a month ago but in May, it will be receiving its first paid DLC pack with Expedition. The pack will add three new maps taking place several months after the main campaign and one of them – War Games – may end up being the standout “parkour playground”.

Designer Jason McCord talks about War Games in a new post and lays out how the map, which takes place in the pilot simulation program, combines several aspects of Angel City, Rise and Airbase Sierra – along with several virtual holograms – to create a wall-running centered map. You can check out new images for the same below.

The other two maps are Swampland, which takes place in a forest with ruins, and Runoff, a watery level. Expedition will be available for PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and retail for $25 as part of the Season Pass or $10 separately.

A new 2vs2 version of Last Titan Standing will be coming soon.

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall will be receiving its first DLC pack in May. The Expedition pack will include three new maps – Swampland, taking place in a forested alien ruins; Runoff, which has water thrown into the mix; and Wargame which is inspired by the training simulator. The DLC will take place after the events of the main story campaign, for those who are interested.

Kotaku reported that new game modes are also incoming, including a 2 vs. 2 variant of Last Titan Standing. New Burn Cards and matchmaking filters based on hashtags will also be available for free. Though it hasn’t been confirmed, Respawn is looking into Titan insignia, Left 4 Dead 2-style mutations called Riffs, player statistics and much more.

Titanfall recently received an update to nerf the Gooser Challenge along with including Private Matches. It’s also available for the Xbox 360 courtesy of Bluepoint Games and it’s very, very good considering the standards set by the Xbox One and PC versions. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
