Activision has announced that Extinction Day, a community event for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts, the mega selling series, starts today, inviting fans from around the globe to fight off hordes and hordes of invading aliens. There will be community livestreams, an exclusive live broadcast from Infinity Ward, including behind-the-scenes Q&As with the developers, and an first official look at new features coming soon to Extinction.

Extinction Day also kicks off the first ever Double XP weekend for Call of Duty Ghosts, allowing players to earn double XP on all their play within Extinction.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the eleventh Call of Duty title, and the first available on all next generation platforms. It released in November to middling critical acclaim on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and PC.
