Having admitted recently that Fable II was rushed and riddled with bugs, just as he did with Fable when Fable II was about to be released (we see through your lies, bald man!), Molyneux has stated that Fable III’s world will be bigger and better than any Microsoft game has ever created, including Crackdown 2, Gears of War, and Halo.

He told GameIndustry.biz this: “Fable, because it is part-simulation, part-role-playing game, part-action-adventure… it’s got more voice acting, a bigger cast, more musical scores, a bigger, freer world – more so than any other game in the whole of Microsoft Game Studios’ portfolio, full stop.

“It’s got more bugs, more active bugs, than any game that MS has ever had in its history – and the team of over 100 people are working insanely long hours, and they’re coming down. That’s the way it is.”

Fable III will be out for the Xbox 360 and PC by the end of October 2010. Watch out for it.

During a recent interview, Lionhead have admitted that Fable 2’s co-op was rubbish.

“We do admit, the co-op in Fable II was rubbish. We’d be restricted to being within 10 yards of each other, I’d have to be your henchman.” said Ted Timmins from Lionhead

The co-op and multiplayer aspect of Fable III will be much better, you will be able to bring your character with its own stats, interface, weapons and your dog into a friends’ game.

One other new feature is actually marriage, Ted explained that you will be able to get married with someone.

“If I’m playing with my girlfriend, I can get married to my girlfriend in the game,” Timmins said. “Have a wedding, get down on one knee like in real life.” he said

“When you actually get married in the game, you have a shared back account. So one day you might turn your game on thinking yeah, I’ve got 1000 gold, I can have that weapon that I wanted, you run over, you press A, you’ve got no money. The reason is, you go to your house, you’ve got pink wallpaper and a new bed.” he added.

Fable III will be released on the Xbox 360 and PC on October 26 of 2010.

A trailer was also shown, and the game looks pretty exciting, and all those who found Fable II even mildly interesting will definitely want to watch the trailer. It can be found below:

The trailer ends with the line “It’s a revolution.” Let’s hope the trailer isn’t lying.

Fable III is looking like it is going to be one of the top role playing games this year. With the talented LionHead studios burning the midnight oil to get this game ready, we at GamingBolt decided to do a high definition screen shot comparison to give an indication as to how Fable 3 stacks up with Fable 2. So let’s have a look.

Note: Click the image to see it in full screen. First image is from Fable 2 and the second one from Fable 3 in each of the respective comparisons.

Comparison 1

In the first round let’s take a look at how the two games look with similar infrastructure and environment. The one thing I really liked about the Fable 3 screen shot is the simulation of water. The water touching pillars and the walls seems much more realistic in Fable 3 as compared to Fable 2. In the Fable 2 screenshot, the objects don’t seem to be immersed inside the river. Also the shadow effects are much more prominent in Fable 3, like the shadows falling on the opposite structure which is almost absent in Fable 2.

Comparison 2

Let’s see how the game compares when a combat sequence is going on. The obvious object which catches the eye is the magical glow in these screens. Fable 2 magic powers look a wee bit low resolution compared to the much “shinier” magic effect in Fable 3. This screenshot also gives us fair idea on how the enemies look. The low resolution grass and clothes of the enemies are a bit off put compared to a much more detailed look in Fable 3. The equipments, guns and the magic effects are much more prominent in Fable 3.

Comparison 3

Now let’s see how the characters look up close and personal. We often see a huge graphical jump between two generations of gaming, but a transition from Fable 2 to Fable 3 is pretty big as well, as evident from the screenshot. This screenshot of Fable 3 almost makes the Fable 2 one like a PlayStation 2 game. The character modeling, high resolution textures and much better looking backgrounds makes Fable 3 a distant winner.

As seen from the screenshot comparison, Fable 3 is looking like it will easily trump its predecessor graphically. Look for more about Fable 3 in the coming months on GamingBolt.

They say laughter is the best medicine – and in some cases it’s enough to revive even the most dire of games. Humour in gaming is nothing new, in fact it’s been a staple of games designers for decades but I’d argue that it’s now being used to much better effect.

Whether you’re an advocate of great graphics, excellent sound effects or compelling storylines, it’s undeniably the fun factor that really makes games go down the annals of history.

From the early days of the SCUMM-based graphic adventure – such as Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit The Road and The Secret of Monkey Island – to the obtuse humour of Leisure Suit Larry or cutesy comedy of today’s multitude of LEGO-branded titles, it’s a truly great moment when a game catches you off guard and you laugh out loud.

As opposed to the “comedy” featured in games like the deplorable Matt Hazard, a well placed joke can really add to the whole experience. Even the slightly sober topic of war can have its moments… Call of Duty 4, for example, got in on the act – albeit briefly on the Mile High Club level – by borrowing the “surely you can’t be serious”oneliner from the classic Airplane movie. Not the funniest joke in the world but it did catch me unawares and made me chortle.

There have been some really, really funny games over the years – Monkey Island: LeChuck’s Revenge, Simon the Sorcerer and Earthworm Jim spring to mind, as do the more recent offerings of Fable II, Ghostbusters and Saints Row 2 (with its nut shots achievement and singing along to the radio among many memorable moments). Overlord 2 is worthy or a few chuckles too… Ordering those in your charge to club a seal to death – although not particularly politically correct – is very funny! Not played it myself but friends suggest Naughty Dog’s Unchartered 2 deserves a mention too…

And what about Spy vs Spy, Cannon Fodder (notably its soundtrack), Theme Hospital, The Movies or Dead Rising? I used to love Ghouls n’ Ghosts too – and always raised a smile when my knight collided with an enemy and shed his armour to reveal his blushes and boxer shorts.

Of course, it’s all very subjective. Me, personally? I really like the way modern games subtly blend humour into a storyline; it’s far less in your face than in the old days. Although I used to have a laugh while playing the likes of Dizzy, Skool Daze, Pyjamarama or Leisure Suit Larry all those years ago, I think developers have really upped their efforts with the dialogue and scripted scenes we see today.

Perhaps the greatest example of this is the Grand Theft Auto series, which made great strides with humour. From driving over people (again, not very politically correct) in the original 1997 game to the radio broadcasts, TV shows and guest appearances by comedians RickyGervais and Frankie Boyle, that feature in its fourth incarnation…

It’s a funny old game. Anyone got any other favourites?
