The recent Fallout Day 2025 saw a few announcements for games already out, but no new entry in the franchise was unveiled, however.

With Fallout Day 2025 having wrapped up, many fans of the franchise found themselves disappointed that Bethesda hasn’t yet announced any new game in the franchise. However, as caught by IGN, Bethesda design chief Todd Howard acknowledged that, while no major new announcements were made, the company is certainly working on “even more” for the Fallout franchise.

In a message that had been pre-recorded, Howard acknowledged that the company is currently working on something for the Fallout universe. However, he also noted that more details about it will only be revealed once Bethesda is ready to do so.

“Even though I am recording this — it’s not live — and I’m probably watching myself right now from my desk and I’m reading your chat and these… that thing you want and this other thing you want… Hey, we read it all. Just know we are working on even more. We are looking forward to the day when we can share that with everybody,” said Howard in his message.

Fallout Day 2025 was live streamed this week, and it featured a couple of key announcements by Bethesda. Among these was the fact that Fallout 76 will finally be getting upgrades that make use of the more powerful hardware available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Along with this, the company also confirmed that the title will be getting its free Burning Springs update – which adds a host of new content to the game alongside an entirely new area to explore – on December 2.

The Burning Springs update for Fallout 76 will also bring with it the debut of Amazon Prime Fallout’s character The Ghoul, who will offer players new missions for the bounty hunting activity, which in turn can be taken up either solo or as a group. The update will also bring with it an entirely new set of story missions, as well as an arena where players can take on different kinds of enemies for the amusement of the Rust King.

The event also saw the announcement of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. While most of the platforms will be getting it on November 10, the Switch 2 release is slated to happen some time in 2026.

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition will include the base game, along with all of the expansions and DLC that have been released for it so far. Along with this, it will also include more than 150 Creations that have been made by other players of the game. These can range from minor things, like changing the breed of companion Dogmeat, to more gameplay-oriented Creations, like tweaks to the core gameplay and even entirely new quests.

Rumours from earlier this year have indicated that Bethesda is working on a host of different Fallout projects that haven’t yet been announced. However, the report from July has indicated that none of these projects had been far along enough in development to be playable anytime soon. Another rumour has indicated that one of these projects might be Fallout 5.

The Burning Springs update for Fallout 76 will bring with it a massive new zone to explore, along with a host of new activities.

Bethesda has announced that the next major free update for Fallout 76 – dubbed Burning Springs – will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on December 2. Along with this, the company has also confirmed that the title will finally be getting official PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, set for release in early 2026. The release date for Fallout 76: Burning Springs was announced with a new trailer which you can check out below.

Aside from confirming the release date, the trailer also focuses on the wild west themes of the update, as well as some of its new content. Among other things, Burning Springs will also serve as a way to tie in Fallout 76 with Amazon Prime’s Fallout series thanks to the presence of The Ghoul, with actor Walton Goggins returning to reprise the role.

The biggest feature of the Burning Springs update will be the addition of a new region, which has also been described by the developers as the biggest update that has been made to the Fallout 76 map so far. The main setting of the expansion will be the titular Burning Springs, situated in the state of Ohio. The core story will revolve around the Rust King who rules over Burning Springs with an iron fist.

Along with a set of new story missions, the update will also feature new activities like Bounty Hunting, allowing players to take on contracts to take out powerful enemies for rewards. These bounty hunting missions can be done either solo, or as part of a group. There are also new public events that will pit players against souped up enemies like Deathclaws and Radscorpions.

The Burning Springs update for Fallout 76 was first announced earlier this month with a 19-minutes-long video featuring community manager Richard Stanford, creative director Jon Rush, production director Bill Lacoste, and lead designer Carl McKevitt. In the video, the developers spoke about the new region being added to the game, describing it as being “terrifyingly beautiful”.

“We’ve done a lot over the past year,” said Lacoste, discussing the continued support that Fallout 76 has seen through the release of free updates. “Starting off with, the end of last year was raids, the Gleaming Depths, where a lot of our high-level players and even mid-level players could come in and get new four-star legendaries and embark on a really impactful and fun raid with their friends.”

The addition of The Ghoul as a central character in the Burning Springs update was first hinted at by Rush back in July, when he said that, while the developers have been focused on the game itself, the nature of Fallout 76 also gives them some leeway in how they can tie in events from other Fallout-based media.

Fallout 76 is currently available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The title has seen several updates since its release, with some of its more recent ones being revamps to its C.A.M.P. system, as well as the addition of fishing with the Gone Fission update.
