Included as a part of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass, and later to be available as stand alone, the quick and dirty remaster of Far Cry 3: Classic Edition has been recently dissected by Youtube channel VGTech. The results are surprising, and suggest that Ubisoft made a point for equality, at least as far as consoles go.

Based on their findings, the remastered game runs at a targeted 30FPS on all console platforms, with frequent drops that are only slightly less so on Xbox One X. As resolution goes, while the vanilla Xbox One and PS4 run the game at 900p and 1080p respectively, both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro have the game locked at a native 1440p. The only other difference seems to be PS4 Pro using post-process anti-aliasing while the other systems seems to not use anything at all.

Such a lock is rather strange, since there’s no shortage of examples of developers that can give the Xbox One X version of their game that extra push in one way or another over the PS4 Pro version, whether that comes in a resolution, effects or frame rate bump.

A new trailer has been revealed, showcasing the kind of insanity that fans can expect.

The game’s story sees Jason Brody and his friends marooned on some islands, dealing with deadly pirates and attempting to survive. Brody eventually learns the art of survival and becomes a killing machine. He has plenty to deal with from the psychotic Vaas to the big bad Hoyt, not to mention the rebels and their “warrior goddess” Citra.

Far Cry 3 Classic Edition isn’t a remake or remaster – it’s a port of the 2012 version that released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Far Cry 5 Season Pass owners can currently pick it up on PS4, Xbox One and PC for no additional cost. However, those who don’t own the Season Pass need to wait till June 26th for its standalone release.

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 is out and doing pretty well in terms of player response. Those who finish the game can take solace in more content coming soon, especially with the limited time events, Arcade Mode and Season Pass content. In fact, those who purchased the Season Pass can pick up Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, a port of the original game for PS4 and Xbox One, on May 29th.

Those who want to purchase the standalone version will have to wait longer as it will be available on May June 26th. We’re yet to know the standalone price but the Season Pass currently retails for $29.99. You could also purchase Far Cry 5 Gold Edition which includes the base game and Season Pass.

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 is getting a Season Pass and it may contain some of the most outlandish DLC produced yet. It contains three DLC packs – Hours of Darkness, Dead Living Zombies and Lost on Mars – with the goal to “take players on three uncanny adventures with a unique Far Cry twist.”

Hours of Darkness sees players battling Viet Cong soldiers after going back in time while Dead Living Zombies presents several shlocky movie scenarios against zombies. Then there’s Lost on Mars where players will fight against Martian spider creatures. Furthermore, Season Pass owners will receive Far Cry 3: Classic Edition.

This version of the game only contains the single-player component and will come to PS4 and Xbox One owners. Though available as a standalone game in Summer 2018, it will be out four weeks early for Season Pass holders.

Far Cry 5 and its Season Pass will be packaged together in the Gold Edition if that’s more your liking. The game itself is out on March 27th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. We’ll learn more about the release dates for DLC shortly afterwards so stay tuned.
