Dragon Quest Builders 2 will also be playable on the cloud, allowing fans of the sandbox RPG to enjoy it on the go. On July 15th, titles like Bloodroots and Farming Simulator 19 are landing for all platforms on the service while The Medium will be playable via the cloud.

Of course, certain titles are leaving this month as well. EA Sports UFC and EA Sports UFC 2 will be gone on July 14th from EA Play. Meanwhile, Endless Space 2 and Downwell are leaving Xbox Game Pass for PC along with CrossCode for all platforms on July 15th. Earlier in the week we got a leak about how May’s PS Plus titles would be Dying Light and Dark Souls: Remastered. An alleged ad had popped up, much like it had the month before, but it seems that we got got on that one and the ad was a fake. Sony has revealed the actual titles for May and, well, they are quite different.

The two titles that will be free for PS Plus members are two simulation games. The first is Farming Simulator 19, the latest in the long running series that hopes to simulate running a farm, and Cities: Skylines, a building sim all about trying to create and sustain a bustling metropolis. Quite a big difference than zombies and dark fantasy, but variety is the spice of life, as they say.

Farming Simulator 19 and Cities: Skylines will be free to all PS Plus members starting May 5th and will be available running up until June 1st.

From shooters to RPGs to old school point and click adventure games, there was quite an amazing variety of games given away throughout last year on the Epic Games Store. This year is posed to be no different as we’ve already got a pretty unique blend of titles, and now it’s time to dust off the old tractor, because this week it’s all about Farming Simulator 19.

Farming Simulator is renowned for being the best (and I guess only?) farm simulator out there. While those who don’t ‘get’ simulation games may find it odd, the game’s detailed and faithful recreation leads to a deep experience for anyone with a passing interest in farming. The 19 edition of the game offers over 300 vehicles and various farming equipment in two huge sandbox like maps.

Farming Simulator 19 is free now on the Epic Games Store until February 6th. After that, we will have the debut of three video game versions of tabletop titles with Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, and Pandemic.

After initially announcing 12 games for the launch of Stadia, Google has added 10 more titles to the list. These include games like Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle, Final Fantasy 15, GRID, Metro Exodus, NBA 2K20 and RAGE 2. Also, Stadia Pro subscribers will receive Samurai Shodown along with Destiny 2: The Collection.

Other titles that have been confirmed for the service include Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption 2, Mortal Kombat 11 and the last three Tomb Raider games. Other games like Borderlands 3, Darksiders Genesis, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint are still slated to release this year. Beyond that, we’ll have to wait and see.

There’s no denying that Google has its work cut out for it with Stadia. The company recently confirmed that several major features like family sharing, the Achievement UI and Buddy Pass system won’t be available at launch. Stadia also won’t work with existing Chromecast Ultra devices – only with those provided in the Founder’s Pack and Premiere Edition. Google has announced all of the titles that Stadia, its game streaming platform, will launch with. A total of 12 games will be available with 14 more titles coming by 2019 end. The list includes big names like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Destiny 2: Collection, Mortal Kombat 11 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

It’s worth noting that those who purchased the Founder’s Edition of Google Stadia will receive a three month subscription to Stadia Pro. This enables playing Destiny 2: Collection, which includes the latest expansion Shadowkeep, at no additional cost. Though free games will be added to the service overtime, customers will still need to buy games to play them.

Releasing on November 19th, Stadia’s main selling point is the lack of any dedicated hardware and the ability to play games anywhere. Google also promises that games on Stadia will feel faster and more responsive than they would on local hardware in the coming years. Giants Software’s Farming Simulator 19 is set to receive more content next week with the Platinum Edition. Out on October 22nd for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Farming Simulator 19 Platinum is an expansion for the base game. However, you can also purchase it as a standalone edition. Check it out below.

The basic gist is more vehicles and tools with the CLAAS brand making its debut. That means the LEXION 8900, JAGUAR 960 TT, and XERION 5000 will be at your disposable. Overall, the vehicle and equipment count is now more than 380, offering even more potential for farming. If you’re a first time player, then this will currently be the most complete version of the game. Until the next expansion, that is.

Google unveiled a bevy of new trailers for previously announced games coming to Stadia, its game-streaming service. Some titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs: Legion obviously stand out as new announcements. But what about games like Darksiders: Genesis, Mortal Kombat 11, Samurai Shodown and whatnot?

It’s worth noting that Robot Entertainment’s Orcs Must Die! 3, a long-requested sequel in the third person tower defense series, is also coming to Stadia. Windjammers 2, the sequel to the cult classic, also received some new gameplay showcasing some of the killer moves that players can pull off.

Google Stadia will launch in select countries like the United States, UK, Canada and so in November. The first subscription tier will be Stadia Pro which costs $10 per month and includes a free game each month. There’s also the Founder’s Edition which has a limited edition controller, three month Stadia Pro subscription, Chromecast Ultra and Destiny 2: The Collection (which includes Shadowkeep) for $129.99. A free tier for Stadia will be introduced next year.

Focus Home Interactive recently released its yearly earnings and reported $143 million revenue. Perhaps to no one’s surprise, Giants Software’s Farming Simulator 19 has been a huge success. The title has sold over two million copies since release. Furthermore, the developer has launched an esports league for the game with a €250,000 prize pool (seriously).

Other noteworthy successes include Dontnod’s Vampyr, an RPG that’s sold over one million copies. Thanks to the game’s success, Dontnod will be working with the publisher again on a new project that promises to be its “most ambitious to date”, while Vampyr itself is also slated for a Switch release as well. New World Interactive’s Insurgency: Sandstorm has also done very, selling over half a million copies on PC via Steam.

Overall, Focus Home Interactive had a good year and beat their overall target by 20 percent. Other big titles like The Surge 2 are coming up in September, and the publisher has announced that it will bring its titles to Xbox Game Pass for PC. Though it’s often against the very point of the medium of video games, more and more we look for realism in video games- realism in visuals, in the way they tell their stories, in their mechanics, in the world. And there’s a very good reason for that- that greater sense of realism lends more believability to the virtual world we find ourselves in, making it more immersive and easier to invest in. Sure, realism isn’t something that’s required in every game – in fact in many kinds of games it actively works against them – but where it fits, and is done well, it can be a powerful tool. It can be something that’s found throughout the game, or something that defines singular moments in games that might not otherwise be too realistic.

In this feature, we’re going to take a look at fifteen games that fit the bill- games that were either almost too realistic or times, or had maybe a few choice moments of realism, but made it all work surprisingly well. Do keep that last bit in mind- we’re not suggesting that a game with dinosaurs in it or another where you can slow down time to gun down your enemies in a single flurry are realistic- only that they offer moments of realism.

With that out of the way, let’s jump right in.

SURVIVAL MECHANICS IN RUST

 By definition, survival games are built around some degree of realism, where your character is much more vulnerable, and there’s a lot of things you need to be mindful of to make sure of your, well, survival. But Rust often take is one step further. From diseases to weather, from health to severely limited resources, from the game itself to the hostile environment it creates for all players (who’re all constantly turning on one another), Rust is a game that can actively stress you out. That, of course, means, that it isn’t for everyone, but for those who get into it, there’s a lot to lose yourself in.

Despite a hefty season of blockbuster releases like Pokemon Let’s Go and Battlefield 5, Farming Simulator 19 from Giants Software still managed to make its mark. The farming title sold over 1 million digital and physical units combined within its first ten days. It marks a new franchise sales record, which is an even bigger deal.

Giants Software CEO Christian Amman said, “It’s incredible to see the impact of the team’s hard work. Farming Simulator 19 offers so many new opportunities and our players are thrilled about them. Never before has a Farming Simulator game reached the one million mark so quickly and we are proud and happy that so many players join us on this amazing journey.”

COO John Bert of Focus Home Interactive, who published the game, noted that it was extremely proud of the developer and its commitment to quality. What made Farming Simulator 19 such a big deal? It features an overhauled graphics engine, which allows for more immersive visuals (as per the developer), and includes new locations for creating one’s farm. Horses can be ridden for the first time as well.

Farming Simulator 19 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Though it has sold fairly well, our official review was quite mixed on the overall gameplay and visual presentation. You can read it in full over here.
