Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has seen much success since its crowd-funding campaign launched on Fig. It crossed the $1.1 million goal in less than 24 hours and currently stands at $$3,098,361 with less than three days remaining.

The latest stretch-goal achieved with this funding is “Relationships” which is explained by design director Josh Sawyer in the video below. The next stretch-goal at $3.25 million is for the ability to have four “Sidekicks” adventure with you throughout Eora.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is a direct sequel tot he first game and is currently due to release in early 2018.
Obsidian Entertainment’s Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire crossed its crowdfunding goal on Fig in less than 24 hours of its launch and continues to bust through stretch goals. The Fig campaign has already crossed $2 million in funding, sitting at $2,087,032 thanks to 18,905 backers.

Stretch goals that have been crossed thus far include two sub-classes for each class; a level cap increase from 16 to 18 and Russian localization; a seventh companion named Xoti; and scripting for AI companions. The next stretch goal at $2.2 million offers UI customization and Italian localization while the $2.4 million stretch goal will provide “twice as much voice-over” and Korean localization.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire takes place directly after the first game and sees your party dealing with immensely powerful deity inhabiting an enormous stone titan. Along with new locations and new characters, it will feature the addition of sea exploration. What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know below.

As expected.

As expected of the IP that set a record for the fastest funded Kickstarter ever, Obsidian Entertainment’s Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire managed to surpass its $1.1 million funding goal on Fig in less than 24 hours.

Currently, the total funding sits at $1,124,606. Equity is still set at $2.25 million so invest if you truly want to have a role in the game’s development.

With the base funding goal reached, backers can now look to the first stretch goal which is set at $1.4 million. This will add two sub-classes for each class, thus increasing the variety of customization and replay value for players.

Like its predecessor, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is an old school-style isometric RPG which directly continues the story of the original. You’ll be dealing with an angry deity in a new environment and Obsidian is promising more open world freedom, “truly living cities” and the ability to transfer saves from the original.

What are your thoughts on the funding campaign? Let us know below.

Already at 24 percent of funding goal.

Confirmed earlier in the day, Obsidian Entertainment’s crowd-funding campaign for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is now officially live on Fig. The funding goal is set at $1.1 million though backers can also purchase $2.25 million in equity.

Here’s something crazy to note though: Despite only being live for a few hours, the campaign has already garnered $271,838 which is 24 percent of its funding goal. Given how well the first title was received, it only makes sense that fans would be gung-ho for the sequel.

Among the many features promised – including transferring your saved game to the sequel to see how your decisions impact the new location – players will also encounter “truly living cities” and “more freedom to explore the open world.”

Check out the campaign launch trailer below. Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is currently in development for PC, Mac OS X and Linux. What are your thoughts on the features list thus far? Let us know in the comments below.

To feature land and sea movement, dynamic quests and more.

Polygon seemed to have broken the news early on Obsidian Entertainment’s next big game, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Though the post has been removed, a Reddit post has it archived with concept art and plenty of new details.

The sequel, which directly follows the original, will see its crowd-funding campaign go live on Fig later today. Obsidian is seeking $1.1 million though $2.25 million is available for equity.

The campaign sees players dealing with Eothas, the god of light and rebirth, now possessing a stone titan and leaving your base in ruins. It’s then a matter of tracking down said god and having a civil conversation with him.

Obsidian promises new cultures and levels, NPCs with their own schedules for the potential of dynamic quests and the return of old party members. There will also be land and sea travel, indicated in the above concept art, and it may even be possible to transfer your Pillars of Eternity save files to see how previously made decisions impact the world.

Double Fine closing in on $3.3 million funding goal.

Since its reveal at The Game Awards and the launch of its crowd-funding campaign on Fig, Double Fine Productions’ Psychonauts 2 has garnered almost $2.1 million in funding.

The sequel to the cult classic hit $1.1 million in about 14 hours when it went live and the project currently has more than 13,000 backers. As such, the choice of Fig as a crowd-funding platform has probably helped since backers can earn revenue on the project if they invest $1,000 or more.

Psychonauts 2 is a platform game like the original and will see protagonist Raz return as a bonafide Psychonaut, exploring the minds of various characters and navigating the insanities within. Psychonauts 2 will be heading to Mac OS X, Linux, PC, PS4 and Xbox One with a planned release date in 2018.

Though Double Fine Productions has asked for $3.3 million through Fig, it will be adding its own money and funds from a private investor as well. We’ll find out in the coming months how development pans out so stay tuned.
