Sony has announced its lineup of titles coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium this month, starting from July 19th. Just as the rumors claimed, Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4) and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade – which includes Episode INTERmission – will be available for subscribers. They’re joined by Marvel’s Avengers and Stray on PS4 and PS5.

Numerous Assassin’s Creed titles are also coming to the service. Assassin’s Creed Unity, Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered, Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry and Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection are all going to be available on PS4. Saints Row 4: Re-Elected and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell on PS4 are also included.

The remaining roster includes Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure, Jumanji The Video Game, Paw Patrol on a Roll! and ReadySet Heroes on PS4 along with Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition for PS5. Classic titles include No Heroes Allowed! and LocoRoco Midnight Carnival on PlayStation Portable.

Interestingly, PlayStation Blog Italy notes that Dino Crisis on PS One and Ridge Racer 2 and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny on PSP will be added to the Classics catalogue as well. It remains to be seen if these will be available for other regions later. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Speaking with TheGamer, Co-director Motomu Toriyama spoke after Yuffie’s role in INTERmission. He states that Yuffie’s previous status as an optional character gave them a bigger chance to expand on her character at an earlier stage of the game’s plot. Those who played INTERmission know that Yuffie’s backstory has seemingly been slightly altered, meaning it was also an opportunity to introduce older fans to a new take on the character. When talking about why they chose her as opposed to Vincent, interestingly, Toriyama gives the simple answer that Vincent is sleeping canonically and gave them less wiggle room to insert him into the Midgar section, showing that despite Remake‘s universe being a different take on the story of FF7, there are still certain beats that are planned to be preserved.

“Yuffie, the heroine of Episode INTERmission was not guaranteed to join your party in the original game, but that actually made her a character that we had more freedom to expand on the backstory for. Compared to Vincent, who was canonically sleeping in a coffin under the Shinra Mansion and so could not be moved around, Yuffie was journeying around the world as a materia hunter. By inserting the events in Midgar from FF7R Episode INTERmission into that journey, we can show the feelings that she had towards that incident that are usually hidden behind her cheery personality, and that will tie into her story further down the line.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Episode INTERmission are available now on PlayStation 5 with the base Final Fantasy Remake also available on PlayStation 4.

Several publications had the chance to go hands-off with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, or more specifically with Episode INTERmission. The Yuffie focused DLC offers two new story chapters and makes everyone’s favorite Materia Hunter into the main character. Yuffie attacks with her large throwing star, comboing enemies with physical attacks. However, she can also throw the weapon and unleash different ninjutsu spells. When Sonon teams with her, the duo can perform Syngerized Attacks which deal more damage to enemies.

Along with combat, the preview sees Yuffie exploring Midgard (and even having a brief run-in with a Sephiroth Clone). Fort Condor, the strategy mini-game, is also briefly showcased. Keep watching for the boss battle with the Gigantipede that crops up near the seven minute mark.

Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade releases on June 10th for PS5 exclusively. PS4 owners can upgrade to the PS5 version for free but Episode INTERmission must be purchased separately.

Square Enix has released a number of new screenshots and details for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. Much of it is focused on Episode INTERmission, Yuffie’s episode which sees her and Sonon sneaking into Shinra to steal some powerful Materia. This includes details on Nero, Weiss the Immaculate’s younger brother who has the power to control darkness.

Residing within the Deepground and part of the Tsviets unit, Nero isn’t the only threat the players will face. There’s Scarlet (who created the Materia that Yuffie and Sonon are after) with her scarlet Mare to contend with as well. Fortunately, the heroic duo will have a number of techniques to make things easier. By pressing L2, Yuffie and Sonon can unleash Synergized Attacks like Synergized Art of War, which damages an enemy and allows subsequent hits to deal more damage; Synergized Windstorm that can launch enemies towards you; and more.

Both also have Limit Breaks like Yuffie’s Bloodbath and Sonon’s Dance of the Dragoon. There’s also Fort Condor, the strategy game based on the original Final Fantasy 7’s tower defense-style mission. It sees two players fielding units to conquer the other’s base while defending their own. Based on the board selected, the number of ATB charges, available Materia and units will change. ATB is used to deploy units with each having one of three roles – Vanguard, Defense and Ranged. Depending on their role, they’ll be effective against a different enemy type.

Finally, there’s Ramuh, the Lord of Levin who utilizes lightning to destroy enemies. As a new summon, he’s capable of using Voltaic Lance to damage nearby foes for a brief time and Judgment Bolt to deliver a huge thunderstorm to all enemies. When Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade releases, players can download a free item pack containing three summons – Carbuncle, Chocobo and Cactuar – along with three armor pieces – Midgar Bangle, Shinra Bangle and Corneo’s Armelt. There’s also accessories like the Superstar Belt and Mako Crystal that should provide an initial early edge in combat.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is out on June 10th, exclusively for PS5.
