The mobile RPG will be ported to the Vita and release this January in Japan.

Square Enix has had a very eventful TGS 2014, announcing a release date for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, a new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy 15 (a demo of which will be included on Type-0 HD as a download code voucher) and Tetsuya Nomura focusing on Kingdom Hearts 3 rather than directing FF15. It has also revealed that Final Fantasy Agito+ will be heading to the PS Vita. This will be a port of the mobile game which recently release in Japan. It’s free to play with micro-transactions and hasn’t been released officially in the West yet.

Final Fantasy Agito+ will have a digital release but also retail for 3,800 yen as a retail title as well. It will be out on January 15th 2015 and there’s no Western release confirmed. Agito is actually an off-shoot of Type-0 which features some of the same characters but with new abilities and a completely new story. Check out the gameplay trailer for the same above and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Square Enix might not give you the Final Fantasy VII remake you crave but dammit if it won’t exploit the franchise for all its worth. Next up is Final Fantasy VII G-Bike which is racing-based. Yes, that’s how far we’ve devolved with the series. Check out the trailer above.

Now this is more like it: Final Fantasy Agito is finally available for iOS and Android in Japan. The game is actually set during a different “cycle” in the Type-0 universe so you’ll encounter some familiar characters with different abilities and a new cast. The gameplay will be more tactical than, say, FFXIII and it does look pretty. Hopefully it receives a Western release like Type-0 HD.

New songs! New characters! More bizarre, off-kilter character design played off super seriously! Plus, there will be a new versus mode. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call already had a decent run in Japan and will be out in North America on September 16th and in Europe on September 19th. Look out for it on the 3DS.

Return to Orience on smartphones.

Square Enix has finally release Final Fantasy Agito for smartphones in Japan and it is now available for iOS and Android.

It’s not a port of Final Fantasy Type-O as was initially suspected. Instead, the game functions as a bit of a prequel to the PSP title, taking place during a previous cycle in the land of Orience. You’ll join Magix Academy and interact with characters from Type-O, with some new characters joining the fray, but they’ll be somewhat changed this time around. You’ll also have a different battle system and abilities along with Chain attacks that allow you to unleash combos on enemies.

Currently, Final Fantasy Agito is slated to release in North America and Europe on mobile platforms for iOS and Android but no definitive release date has been provided. Stay tuned for more information on the game and let us know in the comments whether you’d like to see it arrive in the West.

As a sort of spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Type-0 for the PlayStation Portable, Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy Agito for smartphones and tablets this April in Japan. A new trailer for the same has emerged which you can check out above.

Final Fantasy Agito will see both familiar faces and new, and there will be several classes to experiment with. All the tropes of Final Fantasy, including Moogles and Chocobos, are present here. The game takes place in a cycle prior to Type-0, though it’s not technically a prequel, and as a result you’ll encounter several familiar party members but with different classes.

Final Fantasy Agito will be out this month for iOS and Android across smartphones and tablets. It’s hard to say when it will release outside of Japan but considering Square Enix’s recent efforts with the series on mobile, we’ll keep the hope alive. Let us know what you think of the trailer below.

The PSP RPG returns with new visuals and features.

Final Fantasy Type-0 was initially released for the PlayStation Portable many moons ago, but Square Enix recently announced that it would be bringing it to the West on iOS and Android in the form of Final Fantasy Agito. How well does the game hold up after all these years? Check out a short gameplay trailer above to find out.

The game will be free to play but feature micro-transactions which allows players to purchase energy to continue playing along with items and abilities. There will be story progression based on votes, with the game progressing in two week portions. The first 10 days will reportedly be a single-player campaign, while the last four days are co-operative.

And if that weren’t enough, the graphics will be improved over the PSP version.

As of now, Final Fantasy Agito doesn’t have a solid release but we can expect it to release this Winter. Stay tuned for more details.

The online retailer prepares for Square-Enix's announcement.

As if to get a jump on Square Enix’s announcement of a new Final Fantasy, which it made back at the PlayStation 4 reveal event in February, Amazon France has a listing online for Final Fantasy on – you guessed it – the PlayStation 4.

Now, this is no indication whatsoever as to which Final Fantasy will be announced. It would Versus XIII. It could be Final Fantasy XV. Hell, it could even be the recently registered Final Fantasy Agito. Nonetheless, it’ll be exciting to see just what Square Enix has to offer when it comes time to step up.

So far the rumours could go either way. Final Fantasy Versus XIII, directed by Kingdom Hearts and The World Ends With You stalwart Tetsua Nomura has been in development for as long as we care to remember, but still remains incredibly hyped. Final Fantasy Agito, on the other hand, could be related to Type-O, a PlayStation Portable title that was formerly known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

As for Final Fantasy XV, your guess is as good as ours. Stay tuned as we bring you more updates from E3 2013.

Square Enix has recently trademarked Final Fantasy Agito in Japan, and given how this is incredibly close to E3 2013 – remember how a new Final Fantasy game was teased by Square Enix at the PS4 reveal event? – it could very well be the next game we see in the series.

Of course, there are several reasons this might not necessarily be THE Final Fantasy that is coming to the PlayStation 4. Final Fantasy Agito was last used for a PlayStation Portable title in the former Fabula Nova Crystallis series, which also included Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The game was then known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

After the Crystallis project went belly up, it was released in Japan as Final Fantasy Type-O and is known as one of the few contemporary Final Fantasy games that don’t suck. However, it never came stateside.

Could it be that Square Enix is finally bringing the game to Western audiences but on the PS4, with HD graphics? It wouldn’t be the worst possible scenario, that’s for sure. Stay tuned for more details.
