Need a break from Monster Hunter? There are plenty of awesome games to hunt giant beasts/machines in.

Want to get more Monster Hunter World action but too stubborn to experience the excellent handheld editions like Monster Hunter Generations and XX? Take heed for there are similar games out there that let you hunt monsters. The differences from Monster Hunter World range from the minor to major but at the end of the day, here are 15 games that let you hunt down your foes.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

“Killing monsters” is Geralt’s calling and while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt didn’t have dragons or other monsters on the scale of previous games (with some DLC exceptions), there were still a number of beasts to fell. The creepy Leshens, hulking Fiends, Wraiths, Wyverns and much more await your blade. Fair warning though – the combat isn’t nearly as compelling as Monster Hunter, you can’t mount monsters, and much of the preparation falls to blade oils, potions and skills. It’s still fun though and the various side quests feel unique and interesting.

Action RPG spin off launching in the west next year.

Square Enix’s action RPG for the Nintendo 3DS, Final Fantasy Explorers, will be launching in the west in 2016, the company announced today. The game, which allows up to four players to team up together to complete Monster Hunter styled quests, launched in Japan in December last year; now, western players will get to play it too.

It’s not just a multiplayer game, either, as it has a ton of single player content for players to sink their teeth into. It’s also nice to see Square Enix returning to support the Nintendo 3DS in western territories- it gives me hope that Dragon Quest 7, Dragon Quest 8, and Bravely Second will all see timely releases in the west. It also means that releases like Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest may see the light of day over here.

Final Fantasy Explorers is scheduled to launch in North America on January 26, while Europe will get it on January 29. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.

Guys! Subtitles! FOR REAL!

At this point, I think the TGS trailers exist to torment me. It’s not difficult to subtitle a video! I do it all the time! Oh boy, here we go.

The TGS trailer for Final Fantasy Explorers has been revealed and with it comes a glimpse of some gameplay features that players can look forward to using. One of the most notable abilities is perhaps the Trance power. This interesting, albeit slightly odd player ability lets you transform your character into another character from other Final Fantasy titles. For example, the ever complaining, near self loathing hero that everyone loves to criticise, Cloud Strife.

A nice little inclusion though, if you just so happen to nip out to the store and pre-order Final Fantasy Explorers for Nintendo 3DS, you’ll be given a free copy of the original Final Fantasy. Now isn’t that just all sorts of neat? For those of you still wondering, Final Fantasy Explorers releases this December in Japan. It hasn’t been officially confirmed for launch outside of Japan, but there was a trademark filing that may suggest that it’s going to happen soon.
