Square Enix showcased a two-hour long video of in-depth information about their upcoming Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn MMO re-launch. Toshio Murochi and Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada (who resigned as president of the company a few weeks ago) will be giving you two hours of information in the video below.

Final Fantasy XIV Online went through a huge redesign sometime later after the game launched due to its negative criticism and gameplay features that upset some players. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn hit closed beta back in February 2013 and recently testers are being allowed to try out the new FATE (Full Active Time Events) feature in the game.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is expected to launch sometime during the second quarter of 2013.

“The main reason why we couldn’t go with Xbox 360 was the Xbox Live system,” explained game director Hiromichi Tanaka. “[Live is] different to the normal internet environment, so when we wanted to introduce this game in the same environment as Windows PC it had to be PS3, so that was our choice.

“Microsoft has a different point of view: they want to have a closed environment for Xbox Live. We’re still talking to… We couldn’t come to an agreement on Xbox Live.”

Pfft, typical Micrsosft, messing things up and losing out on big marketshares…

Final Fantasy XIV is due for release on the PS3 and PC.

The trailer looks smashing, with gigantic monsters and beasts, stunning visuals, movie-like presentation, staggeringly huge Bahamuts and dragons, and most importantly, my favourite Final Fantasy IV/XII theme playing in the background, making the game all the more epic and awesome.

Final Fantasy XIV Online, the massively multiplayer role playing title, is due for release on the PC and the PS3 later this year.
