Square Enix has released its earning statement where they have posted a 2,077 million Yen loss or $26.5 million for Q1 2012. They blamed the loss on poor console game sales which should no doubt change by next year once the big guns like Dragon Quest X arrives.

They posted a 24, 900 Yen net sales which amounts to $319 million, and this is about the same as last quarter so sales have been steady or flat depending on your definition.

Video game and other properties in the digital entertainment business posted total sales of 11,336 million Yen or $145 million. The company has some good games coming out like Hitman: Absolution and Sleeping Dogs which should no doubt propel the game business.

“During the three-month period ended June 30, 2012, sales of console games were weak, while the sales of “Dragon Quest Monsters Terry No Wonderland 3D” were favorable,” the publisher revealed. “On the other hand, content for other platforms such as PCs and smartphones such as “Sengoku Ixa,” a browser game, and “Final Fantasy Brigade,” a social networking game for Mobage continues to post favorable results.”
