A slight misunderstanding is followed by a brutal shattering of dreams.

Bungie’s upcoming online shooter Destiny is in the news for various reasons but the most surprising revelation might be that the game would allow players to control the Firefly-class ship Serenity from Joss Whedon’s cult classic TV series. Bungie tweeted an image of the ship out and said it’s “not available in beta”. What’s most unsurprising about this? That it won’t be available at all.

Before users take could this to mean that the ship would be playable in the final release, Bungie quickly tweeted, “And, no, we’re not equipping you with Serenity in Destiny. That’s world collision, even if it’s a sweet rhyme.”

Sorry, Browncoats but the war truly is over. Or at least won’t be fought in the hallowed halls of Destiny.

Thoughts on this whole misunderstanding? Let us know below. Destiny will be out on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 9th worldwide with the beta resuming on July 23rd.

Free updates for one of the most popular free to play games.

Stronghold Kingdoms is one of the most popular games on Steam at the moment (perhaps a large part of that success comes from the fact that it a free to play game that is not bullshit), and the developers at Firefly seem keen to keep it that way. This newest update for the game adds some pretty hefty content to the title, including new Paladin Castles and leaderboards.

Paladin Castles in player Parishes, giving a popularity bonus, dependent on the size of the castle, to all villages in the Parish. These can be attacked in the same manner as hostile AI Castles,so you can always take over them and claim all the bonuses for yourself.

New leaderboards have also been added to the game; these new leaderboards list which players have collected the most Glory, made the most Parish donations and razed the most villages.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage of the game.
