The highly respected and long lived independent developers, Team 17, has announced that their brand new title Flockers will finally be making its debut appearance on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 later in the month. For those of you who can’t wait until that time, the game is available right now via Steam through the early access program.

Team 17 are the folks responsible for the smash hit multi-platform phenomenon, Worms. So it should come as no surprise that their most recent game is set to continue the legacy of absolutely pitch black humour and utter insanity. Flockers is a new spin on the tried and proven A to B puzzle game format, very much in the vain of Lemmings the player takes control of a flock of sheep and must guide them to safety through a number of “dark, heinous puzzles” and if you’re good enough, 6 secret levels.

Gamers in Europe can find the game at retail and via digital download from their preferred platform as of September, those of us in the US will sadly have to wait a bit longer until September 23rd when the game is made available via digital download.

Team 17 has also revealed that they have plans to bring the early access brawler, Overruled!, to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Overruled is in development by the indie dev team Dlala Studios.

Team 17’s Flockers, a Lemmings-style game that features gore and aesthetics more fitting a Tim Burton film, is now available for PC via Steam Early Access for £11.99. This is an alpha version so keep in mind that bugs and crashes are still very much a thing.

Team 17 posted on the game’s official Steam page that, “The Early Access game is already in a very playable state with twenty-five levels ready to play plus the powerful ‘Meat Maker’ editor with which you’ll be able to create your own fiendish levels and share them via Steam Workshop. We decided to release Flockers via Early Access to ensure the community gets a chance to help us shape it.”

Team 17’s Flockers, which combines the classic Lemmings style of gameplay with some Burton-esque visual antics (and so much murder), will be available on PC next month. It will be available via Steam Early Access on May 6th and priced at £11.99/$14.99/€13.99.

It will include 25 levels to start with and include Steam Workshop support. There will also be a level editor and leaderboard support, though more levels will be added officially later along with other updates. If you purchase the game during its Early Access phase, you’ll receive a discount on the full game, a digital artbook and the official soundtrack.

Flockers seems to be inspired by Lemmings, the classic puzzle title, in that you’ll be guiding a group of sheep through some rather sinister puzzles in a Steampunk-style universe. The game will seek to incorporate the humour of Worms along with Tim Burton’s gothic stylings. The result is intriguing to say the least.

However, interestingly enough, Flockers was announced to be releasing on PC through Steam Early Access in Q2 2014. Will it be heading to next gen consoles through either Sony’s indie program or Microsoft’s ID@Xbox? It’ll certainly be something to watch out for since Worms Battlegrounds has been announced for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Development team Team17, famous for their work on the Worms franchise, have announced that they are working on a new franchise and that the first game in this new IP will be out soon, making it their first new IP in a decade. The game is titled Flockers.

Team17 MD Debbie Bestwick said, “This is the most important game we’ve worked on in over a decade.” She announced the existence of this game during today’s PlayStation Open Day in Royal Leamington Spa, and said that an official announcement will be made by Team17 soon.

However, that’s all we know yet. We know nothing else. We don’t know what the game will be about, what genre it will be, what systems it will be on and when it will release. However, we’re expecting most of that information to be provided to us when the game is officially announced by the devs.
