Four new heroes, Breach, Arcade mode, and much more arrive in Ubisoft's fighter.

Man the siege engines – For Honor’s latest expansion Marching Fire is now live, along with a free update. It adds the Wu Lin faction, bringing four new heroes to the game along with graphical improvements and the new Breach mode. Check out the trailer below to see how the new heroes look and play.

The Wu Lin faction consists of Tiandi, a Dao blade wielder; the Shaolin, who relies on bare fists and a staff; Jiang Jun, wielding a guandao; and Nuxia, a hook sword user. Each has their own style and abilities that drastically alter the flow of battle. As for Breach mode, it sees two teams taking turns defending and assaulting a castle. The goal? To protect/kill the “king”, who sits in the courtyard.

The Marching Fire expansion allows for unlocking the new heroes immediately, though the Wu Lin characters will be available two weeks later for purchase at 15,000 Steel each in-game. Arguably the biggest highlight of the paid expansion is Arcade Mode. This is a PvE-focused mode where solo and co-op players can battle against AI foes with different modifiers and difficulties, promising “endless replayability”.

Ubisoft's fighter celebrates a significant milestone before its Marching Fire expansion's release.

Ubisoft’s For Honor has a big new update coming up. Before that, however, the developer revealed that the game has accrued more than 15 million players since launching in February last year. Obviously this doesn’t indicate daily or monthly active players, but it’s still a pretty significant milestone for a game that most had written off initially.

Marching Fire will be out on October 16th, and a new trailer has been released to discuss its features. Along with the new Breach mode, which sees two opposing teams either attacking or defending a castle against invaders, there are four new heroes who are part of the Wu Lin faction, numerous quality of life improvements (including visual and design improvements), and much more.

There’s also Arcade Mode, which offers single-player and co-op battles against AI opponents with different difficulties and modifiers. To obtain this and the new heroes, players must spend $29.99 on the Marching Fire expansion.

It’s worth noting that the new heroes will be available for non-expansion owners to obtain on October 30th with in-game currency. Alternatively, the base game and Marching Fire can be purchased together in the For Honor: Marching Fire Edition for $59.99.

PC players can get their hands on the new enemy faction and Breach mode early.

Ubisoft’s For Honor is receiving quite a bit of new content with the Marching Fire update, which is out in October. However, if you want to get in on the action early, the development team has announced an open test for the update next week. It takes place on September 6th for PC users and will last until September 10th.

Along with the new Wu Lin faction containing four new heroes, Marching Fire also introduces graphical improvements, Victory screens, UI enhancements, and a new PvP mode called Breach. Breach mode is essentially a fort siege mode of sorts – one team attacks a castle, using a battering ram to break in, while the other team must defend it and their lord. Three new maps will be available along with Breach.

If that weren’t enough, a new Arcade Mode consisting of randomly generated battles of varying difficulties (which players can choose beforehand) will also be available. These can be tackled solo or in co-op and allow players to level up gear score and Reputation, which carries over into multiplayer.

For Honor: Marching Fire releases on October 16th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

We get an in-depth look at the PvE Arcade Mode and its unique features, along with details regarding pre-order bonuses, and more.

There’s already quite a bit we’ve learnt about what the upcoming expansion for For Honor, called Marching Fire, will bring to players. While we had previously learnt about Breach mode, Ubisoft has now revealed lots of new details about the Arcade Mode that the expansion will add to the game as well. The developers also revealed that the game’s Starter Edition will be free for a few days starting from August 22.

Arcade Mode is basically a PvE mode which will only be available to those who buy the expansion, although players can still join a game if they’re invited even if they don’t have the expansion themselves. In this mode, players will face off against AI opponents, and players can select a difficulty based on the different gear score levels, while some unpredictability will also be introduced as the game introducers randomly applies combat modifiers to AI and players itself, which in turn will be dependent on quest difficulty.

The mode is stated to be infinitely replayable, and can be played either solo or in co-op, and it certainly looks like it’s going to be quite challenging overall. If you pre-order the expansion, you will gain access to the new Heroes, the Arcade Mode, the Breach Mode, and also Elite Outfits for each of the heroes. Additionally, if you’ve been wanting to try the game out, now would be a good time because you will be able to get the Starter Edition of the game for free from August 22 until August 27.

You can check out videos showcasing the Arcade Mode below. The Marching Fire expansion is set to release on October 16.
