Many familiar mechanics, like grid-based movement and targeting individual parts, remain. However, the visuals have seen a huge overhaul – instead of sprites and backgrounds, there are now fully 3D models and environments. The soundtrack has also been fully re-orchestrated, though the original is still available to select.

Front Mission 1st: Remake promises gameplay tweaks and a brand new mode, but these are not showcased in the trailer. Stay tuned for more details and hopefully some extensive gameplay in the coming weeks. As for the future, Front Mission 2: Remake will launch in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch, while Front Mission 3: Remake is also in development albeit without a release window.

If that weren’t enough, a new trailer premieres tomorrow at 6 AM PT/9 AM ET. Based on the 1995 Super Famicom classic, Front Mission 1st: Remake offers improved graphics, a new game mode, and various tweaks to the gameplay. The soundtrack is now fully orchestrated, but you can also go with the original soundtrack.

MegaPixel Studio is also working on Front Mission 2: Remake, which launches in 2023 for Nintendo Switch and features new terrain effects and 80 skills from the first game. Front Mission 3: Remake is also in development for the platform and is planned to release in the future.

But that’s not all. Front Mission 2: Remake will be released in 2023 for the platform. Based on the 1997 tactical role-playing title that was unreleased outside of Japan, the remake features more terrain effects along with weapon and armor attributes. There are also 80 new skills from the first game that are being added.

If that weren’t enough, a remake of Front Mission 3 is also coming in the future for Switch. As for Front Mission 1st: Remake, more details on the various improvements that it brings to the original should be revealed in the coming weeks. Front Mission is Square Enix’s tactical role-playing game series with mechs (known as Wanzers). Players can customize their walking tank with different parts – if any suffers from damage, then their performance can be hindered. The first game launched in 1995 for the Super Famicom and was later ported to the Nintendo DS in 2007 so it will be interesting to see how the remake pans out.

It was also announced that Front Mission 2: Remake would be coming to the Switch in the future, though no release window was confirmed. Originally released in 1997 for the PlayStation One in Japan, this will mark its worldwide debut. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
