The free Mercenaries update for Front Mission 1st: Remake is slated for release in early 2024.

Developer MegaPixel Studio has announced a major free update for Front Mission 1st: Remake. The update, slated for release in 2024, will bring along a host of new content, including single-player scenarios and a new local multiplayer hot-seat mode.

Titled Mercenaries, the update also brings with it a new roster of playable mercenaries, as well as a new commander character that players can choose. The new mercenaries are described by the studio as being meant to introduce players to the new content.

The upcoming hot-seat mode will allow players to take part in multiplayer skirmishes on a single device. The mode essentially has players take turns in deciding their moves, and will feature new skirmish maps.

Front Mission 1st: Remake was originally released back in November 2022 on the Nintendo Switch. The game has since been released on more platforms, coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC back in June.

Being a remake of the classic Front Mission, Front Mission 1st: Remake brings with it a host of quality of life improvements, including the ability to pick between Modern and Classic modes. For more details, check out our review of Front Mission 1st: Remake.

Check out the differences between classic mode and modern mode in the new gameplay trailer for Front Mission 1st: Remake.

Developer MegaPixel Studio and publisher Forever Entertainment have released a new trailer for the upcoming remake for the original Front Mission, dubbed Front Mission 1st: Remake. The trailer shows off some gameplay as the game runs on a Nintendo Switch.

As the trailer shows, Front Mission 1st: Remake features two game modes: classic and modern. The classic mode features the classic soundtrack, and an orthogonal camera angle. The modern mode, on the other hand, features a remastered soundtrack, a new perspective-based camera angle, freedom in camera controls, and smaller fixes and improvements across the board.

The trailer shows off some gameplay from both classic as well as modern modes, giving us a good idea of the core differences in gameplay and quality-of-life features.

Front Mission 1st: Remake got a trailer earlier this month showing off its gameplay mechanics, which fans of the classic franchise will recognise as being largely unchanged from the 1995 original.

Front Mission 1st: Remake is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 30.

Based on the 1995 tactical RPG for Super Famicom, the remake is out on November 30th for Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders begin on November 16th.

Yesterday, Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio announced that Front Mission 1st: Remake would launch on November 30th for Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders kick off on November 16th via the Nintendo eShop, but in the meantime, a short new gameplay trailer is available. Check it out below.

Many familiar mechanics, like grid-based movement and targeting individual parts, remain. However, the visuals have seen a huge overhaul – instead of sprites and backgrounds, there are now fully 3D models and environments. The soundtrack has also been fully re-orchestrated, though the original is still available to select.

Front Mission 1st: Remake promises gameplay tweaks and a brand new mode, but these are not showcased in the trailer. Stay tuned for more details and hopefully some extensive gameplay in the coming weeks. As for the future, Front Mission 2: Remake will launch in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch, while Front Mission 3: Remake is also in development albeit without a release window.

Front Mission 2: Remake also receives new details and gameplay with a 2023 release window. A remake of Front Mission 3 is also coming.

After little to no information since February, Forever Entertainment has confirmed that Front Mission 1st: Remake is coming to Nintendo Switch in November. The original was released in 1995 for the Super Famicom before coming to the Nintendo DS in 2007. Check out the latest gameplay trailer in the timestamped video below.

But that’s not all. Front Mission 2: Remake will be released in 2023 for the platform. Based on the 1997 tactical role-playing title that was unreleased outside of Japan, the remake features more terrain effects along with weapon and armor attributes. There are also 80 new skills from the first game that are being added.

If that weren’t enough, a remake of Front Mission 3 is also coming in the future for Switch. More breaking news from Nintendo Direct is also inbound so stay tuned.

Remakes and remasters have become increasingly popular in recent years, and here are 15 upcoming remasters and remakes that you should keep an eye out for.

Remakes and remasters have become an important part of the games industry as of late. Remakes and remasters are also great ways to test the waters for bringing back dormant franchises. 2022 and beyond is looking to be a great time for fans of remakes and remasters, and here we will be looking at a few such examples:

Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes

Announced very recently as a collaborative effort between original developer Remedy Entertainment and publisher Rockstar Games, the Finnish developer is working on full-fledged remakes of the first two Max Payne games using its in-house Northlight Engine. Given the massive popularity of this IP, it seems fair to say that expectations and anticipation for the two games are very high. The two remakes are still in the early stages of development, and fans will have to wait a bit before they get a chance to play them in all of their high-fidelity glory.

Forever Entertainment is remaking the classic tactical role-playing RPG. It also confirmed that Front Mission 2: Remake is in development.

Forever Entertainment of Panzer Dragoon Remake fame is teaming with Square Enix to remaster the Front Mission series to Nintendo Switch. Front Mission 1st: Remake will be releasing for the console this Summer – check out the spiffy first trailer below.
